Am I missing something or is there no way to scale the UI? Stuff is too small at 2560x1600 :(

I can't even remember the last big budget release I played without a scaling UI.

I didnt' even bother messing with settings. Ran and looked great on medium(preset) on my asus g55

If only SweetFX really did have msaa ;)

Still can't believe the whole of the internet hasn't found a way to remove that bloody HUD...

lol well im going by what they call it in the SweetFX Configurator

also would love to know how to make the hud smaller. :/

does anyone get Riven vibes with this game.....so good.gif

I dont understand why people would want to SweetFX this

afaik that always seems to bring up more contrast and tint to the colors, and this game is already fucking screaming strong colors at your face

you guys are gonna pop your eyes out

For the aa. I don't know why you'd want to change the colours much though.

As I said in the OT this game has the perfect level of saturation - the slightly washed out aesthetic is gorgeous and stops it from looking garish like The Witcher 2.

SweetFX is just an easy way of injecting SMAA, I always leave that other crap off.

Anyone tried to changed VsyncTo60WhenUnder30 from False to True in XEngine.ini? I can't play right now but it might change the drops of FPS from locked 60 to locked 30. So if anyone might want to try this?

I am using D3DOverrider at the moment with my 7850 to enable Vsynch and triple buffering. Works great. No more tearing.

The game moment I mentioned before, where I said that something needed to happen to move the story forward. In that particular level, I could see objects floating, missing platforms, trees without branches, etc. When I realized what was happening, I figured it might be the Poolsize because I read someone here mention that it was causing game breaking glitches. So I reset the Poolsize to 400 and tried the game again, and it loaded all the missing objects fine, howover it still failed to load the game moment and couple of other NPC interactions before that - probably due to the fact that glitches somehow sticks with your save file and so even with the Poolsize reset, the game didn't correctly read it properly or something and still remained glitched.

The thing about the Poolsize glitch is that, even though it might not have yet caused a game breaking glitch, it will completely omit certain interactions or objects that you won't even realize should have been part of the game. For example: the time you get your first Vigor and pass this gate. Just after that, there's an NPC interaction with a coin. When the game was glitching, I simply passed that gate, the NPC interaction never happened because they did not even load, and I didn't realize I was missing something.

It's strange. I still maintain to play the game without touching any texture settings.

it wasn't the poolsize it was changing bUseBackgroundLevelStreaming=true to false. its true by default.. had poolsize at 640 for 4 + hours no problems.... your game my not be fully installed or something.

Sweetfx isn't working for me and I don't have d3doverrider or fraps running. Not sure why it won't work. I am putting all the necessary files in the binaries/win32 folder.

What am I doing wrong?

I can confirm that bUseBackgroundLevelStreaming being set back to true fixed a game-breaking bug I encountered.

When it was on false I ran into a loading screen that never ended, tried three times. Set the value back to true and it loaded in 2 seconds.

Haven't had any issues with Poolsize, yet.

Okay now this is starting to piss me off.

Everytime I try to start a new game, the game freezes at the loading screen and crashes. I've tried lowering the quality, re-installing the game, restarting the PC, verifying the integrity of the files, rolling back to the 13.2 drivers (AMD) and un-ticking Steam cloud.

Can anybody help me out with this? This is beyond frustrating now.

I'm having the same problem, although I haven't re-installed the game. Hoping to find a fix before that. Let me know if you figure something out, if I re-install and it's still crashing on the first in-game load screen, I'll probably lose my mind and do something awful like play it on console.

Anyone? Is there anything special I need to do because I put the files where I do in every other game and it just won't work.

Sweetfx worked for me once when I tried it with the configurator. It doesn't work anymore but quite frankly I don't care the game looks amazing already. I think I'm pretty set my screen tearing issue is no more as vsync and triple buffering via D3DOverrider seems to have fixed that. Also I don't really have much stuttering anymore as I think I put on 59 as my frame limit in MSI afterburner and I did the poolsize increase in the Xengine.ini in the documents folders.

Running on GTX670 with i7-3770k with 4GB of RAM cuz I don't have 64 bit Windows 7. Running 60fps unless I'm loading a new area then it dips a bit but it lasts like half a second. Not bad.

Okay yeah it works using the configurator.. not sure why that matters though.

OH I'm a fucking moron. This game is DX11 so you use the dx11 files. That's probably why it didn't work when I tried manually.

It can do whatever you want. It's like having Photoshop in a running game.

So I'm gonna pass along something for nvidia users that I never see get mentioned, and that's enabling the smooth afr behavior in nvidia inspector. I've been playing around with it and I'm not exaggerating when I say that with it on it truly feels like vsync isn't even enabled. Just really smooth and jitter free, with of course no screen tearing. Definitely something worth trying out with no apparent negatives are far as I can tell.

Just so you guys know (and if anyone has a spec similar to mine, I'm running the game at a constant 60 FPS (expect for when it's loading) with wverything on max and not overclocked.

Windows 8 x64
Samsung 840 PRO SSD
AMD HD 7970
Intel i7 2600k

So framerate and everything is fine for me, but now I'm getting kicked to my desktop so windows can tell me that my memory is low, and that I should close Bioshock Infinite. In task manager it appears that I still have 1.6GB free and that my physical memory is only at 48%.

Anybody have any ideas?

Care to elaborate?

I'm going to use this guys preset.

Okay I got sweetfx working. It doesn't work when D3Doverrider is on. My game crashes if it's on.

In the Sweetfx folder there is d3d9.dll and d3d9.fx for DX9 games.

For DX11 games, there is dxgi.dll and dxgi.fx. Only use the latter ones and don't bother putting the other ones in the folder and it'll work.

PHEW.

Also, I am on a 1920x1200 monitor and want to downsample a little. If I try 2560x1600 it hurts my performance too much. If I want to do a resolution a little bit better than 1920x1200 can someone recommend how I would choose one? I tried 2112x1320 and it made the game blurry.

Running on high 1680*1050. Ran just fine for the first hour or so then I started to experience annoying stuttering (freezes every 10/15 secs). Any ideas ?

Okay, I redid my config and did some new tweaks. Looks and runs better than ever. Minimal stuttering now.

I would take screens, but FRAPS disables my SMAA injector.

So basically if you want to use Sweetfx, you have to deal with screen tearing and stuttering since D3Doverrider won't work at the same time?? Am I right?

Guys, I'm about to cry. I just tried to boot up Bioshock and every attempt to download the update I am greeted with a message that says is a disk write error. My drive is currently maxed out (SSD 64GB), but the only game I have on here is Bioshock!

What is the deal, this game supposedly only takes up 14 GBs (according to Steam) and there is nothing else that is very large on my computer. Any solutions?

I'm on a 120GB SSD and had the same issue, the whole install takes up way more than 14GB... Probably around 30 but then reduces in size once it's all done

Did you finish the installation?

Nevermind, you're clearly in game. But I don't know what to do. I'm trying to uninstall Java and Adobe, but Windows isn't allowing me to do so (keeps crashing). Why can things never be easy?

Alright I'm out. I can't get sweetfx working. Even with d3doverrider off, Nvidia control panel off, fraps off - nothing seems to work. I've used the configurator and just done the drag and drop method. I don't know what's interfering

Does anyone with an Alienware M11X R3 with a Geforce GT540M or something similar have a stuttering problem. It just appeared recently and it's giving me issues on all settings for Bioshock Infinite even though my specs should be more than adequate to run it at medium settings:

Win 7 x64
Intel Core i7-2617M 1.5GHz
8GB Ram
GeForce GT540M

I've updated the drivers to the latest and still nothing, anyone else seeing this issue?

so I'm just getting annoyed out of my mind because of the constant hitching.

intel 2500k + geforce 560ti + 4 gigs ram ddr3 + WD green hdd, how can it be I can't swing around the camera without a loading freeze!?

Read my post a few up about it. You're probably adding the dx9 sweetfx files into the folder. Use the DX11. When I realized that I was like, "sigh how did I not realize that." The readme says what you need to add to the folder for it to work.

The sound mix in Bioshock games have always had these issues. Surprised they haven't rectified them by now.

Noticed the same thing. Thought it was just me.

I'm getting a little weirdness on the audio mix. Sound levels drop off ridiculously quickly and there's like no crossfeed whatsoever. I have to stand right up on people talking in order to hear them and if they're on my left, I get nothing at all in the right channel and vice versa.

Is this normal?

Yes. It's very weird.

Turning away from audio sources makes them like instantly shut-off.

I am not an expert on the audio end of things, but you guys could try downmixing if you are using a 2.1 setup or headphones: [LINK]

I don't have the game installed at this time, so I can't test it,

If it's the two files that are dx9 related, I've removed them already. I'll try again without the configurator. . .

runs at 60 FPS locked on my 7970 on ultra..minor hitching when "loading" a new section of the city

game is beautiful on PC, looks better than Crysis 3 IMO

Yeah, I had to clear a whole ton of stuff off of my drive before it would finally go. Now I have 20GB free space :/

Alright so, I haven't tested it terribly long, but I'm pretty sure this is what finally fixed my stutter issues. (Whatever the effect messing with poolsize was having, it wasn't enough.)

Now the stutters so far seem to just be at super obvious loading points instead of me looking at a different part of the room.

Okay doing those steps seem to further improve the smoothness. I can now use Sweetfx without the use of D3doverrider. I don't really notice tearing either.

I don't get this at all. But this game is only supposed to be at max 30GBs, does Windows take up 30GBs as well? I don't understand this at all. And how come I can't uninstall Java, Adobe Reader, or anything all of a sudden? WHAT THE FUCK IS HAPPENING?

I deleted the game and reinstalled it and I'm hoping that fixes this bizarre issue that has arisen. Again, the game says it only requires 17 GBs, yet I have a whopping 28GB available. Please, Valve or Irrational: fix this.
