Yesss, yessss this is gooood. Maybe this will mean that people actually watch what they say when they're posting from an account that directly ties them to their employer especially given current context regarding always online.

I am all for free speech but everything you say should always carry consequence.

Guy seems like a douche, but twitter is a fucking lynch mob. It needs to stop.

He put the statements out there for the world to see

Twitter isn't some close-knit seclusive social website, you post anything, you better damn well be prepared for what you said

Considering developers and publishers aren't even allowed to even acknowledge that there's another Xbox on the way soon, its not surprising he got in trouble for it over a public messaging service.

That's a pretty big position to fire over some Internet drama.
Creative Director of Microsoft Games Studio was he not?

Very very sad. He messed up, but I don't think he should've lost his job. People screw up, and I hate that some people will demand blood.

We live in such a shitty time when it comes to jobs and now he's marked probably for the rest of his career because he messed up. Sucks. I feel really bad for him.
Is this coming from the "Everyone wins" generation? Come on man, he made a very bad decision and no he is learning from it. It's not like he's never going to be able to find a decent job again, just probably not one that has much to do with communication.

I permanently banned my 6 year old daughter from using the PS4 for mistakenly sending grief reports as it's too hard to watch or talk to her

No, what needs to stop is people believing comments made on twitter, about topics in their professional sphere will have no consequences for their livelihoods in that professional sphere.

Companies have policies about commenting in public about such things, it always ends up bad for those doing so, that's why PR departments exist.

A creative director. The simple fact was he made too big of a scene. If I work at a meat packing company, and in my free time I make fun of people that buy my company's products, I wouldn't expect to work there much longer either.

You have to know when and how to pick your battles. This is a case of being anonymous on the internet doesn't work. People get too cocky/think they are shielded from repurcussions on the internet... I'm not glad the guy got fired over it. It was a stupid reason to get fired or forced to resign, but HE was the one that did it. No one else made him do it.

I hope he sues Microsoft for firing him and I also hope that Microsoft and other companies start teaching their employees how to use social media.

Well, he always wanted to be on the internet, so we can't really blame internet. And Aegies may try to point the finger to Microsoft, for firing their employee for a rumor that they have no answer for.

I just don't get why some people here are celebrating, as if him losing his job is a win for Neogaf.

Guy stands atop a soapbox and insults people with a megaphone the whole world can hear, under his own name, about the company he works at.

No tears shed here.

Oh god damn it. Really dumb comments, and on twitter of all places, but to fire him?

Perhaps it was a choice given to hmm. I certainly do feel sorry for him now.
Sucks if the console is NOT online required and he still got fired...
Oh man, that would especially suck.
