Looks like the compass still does the same thing it's always did:

Lazy.

Bombs and arrows were also unlimited in the Skyward Sword demo as well. I'm sure the final product will limit your arrows.
Huh, I don't know why I didn't think they'd extend this feature to 2D Zelda. Maybe I didn't think we'd see more classic-style Zelda. THIS LOOKS SO GOOD.

It's a demo

Why would they design a stamina system just to use it only in the demo? i honestly would rather have a stamina system and infinite items than a stamina system and limited items. Otherwise what use would the stamina meter have apart of handicapping the player? A system that only punishes a player isn't exactly a good one.

Anyway, video looks great. It kinda confirms my fears about very small floors, but I hope that'll only be true in this one dungeon. Apart of that it's really great -- and fast.

What's with people not wanting a compass? Compass is awesome. It should make a noise when you enter a room that has a hidden key.

Man I am REALLY into this wall-walking shit. It lets you approach these environments in such a completely different way. This is totally the defining thing in this game, not its LTTP-ness.

To prevent you from spamming arrows and hammers like you could in ALTTP.

This dungeon has 12 floors and is a more vertical dungeon, so it having smaller rooms and suchh would be normal.

This so much.

I'm pretty sure in the demos of previous Zeldas they didn't make arrows unlimited.
And if they did change that for the demo, why would they think to tie it to the stamina meter?
Maybe the demo gives you the most upgraded version of your items... I wouldn't mind having an enchanted quiver as a late-game unlockable...

Also, look: I'm excited for this game because it's been a decent amount of time since a good ol' top down zelda. But I definitely want new things, constantly. If nintendo turns this into a NSMB style "let's pump one of these suckers out before every investor report", I'll be pretty upset. I don't think too many people were hating on on NSMB when it was announced; a lot of the hate came when they milked the series.

That's exactly how it was. I didn't even complain about "bah bah" back then. I didn't care, it was a brand spankin new 2D Mario. YAHOO!

But now, with NEW Super Mario Bros. 2 reusing so much from the DS game, I just got annoyed with it. With how much this series sells, I want to see Nintendo look passionate about this series and bring about high quality music and graphics and expand the content. Instead they just look like obvious cash grabs, thinking that good level design is all people care about. Most of the levels aren't rich with new ideas anyway. Bone Coasters? Was a cool idea and is still fun, but it's not what I'd call exciting anymore. I've been getting too good with NSMB Wii and DS that these "newer" games are quick to get boring because they're so easy, especially in the beginning. And collecting those big coins have always been boring. I play for the adventure, not just for level designs and collecting stuff. The levels are supposed to enrich the adventure.

Anyway, enough about that. I really, sincerely hope 2D Mario will come back later with an improved presentation and rich new ideas. I greatly prefer them over 3D Mario and would like them to get the budget those lesser selling games get.

Right now, I would be happy if this generation can revive Zelda. The series sells okay nowadays, but I feel the game has really been losing its touch.

With LTTP 2, I don't really like the puzzle focus of the reveal trailer and that short hands on video footage was all straight forward puzzles. I hope they use the whole layered dungeons thing for lots of great action play as well. The puzzle thing is what has me most worried about this new Zelda because if they over do it, it will just end up being another Phantom Hourglass or Spirit Tracks and speed runs will be very boring to watch.

Hey Nintendo take a look at this:

THIS is the game you're competing with. Show these guys you all can still make a classic.

Speculation:

There will be online functions - maybe even co-op

A Four Swords Adventure-like coop doesn't sound bad.

Man all these videos showing the smooth and fast gameplay makes me want to preorder it right now! Too bad it's not on Amazon yet.

I think the energy meter ties into charge up time/attack power of the arrows. For example look at this video:

www.youtube.com/watch?v=CZtU94oOfuc#t=0m35s

and then this:

www.youtube.com/watch?v=IcZ8wnPWb4s#t=1m25s

The amount of energy taken up for an arrow shot is significantly different. In the first video the player does a quick shot where as in the second video the player holds the arrow for a bit of time. They both have the same amount of hearts so they can't be super far in the game from each other. I think if it isn't for charge up then maybe you can increase energy capacity so although the game doesn't outright give you ammo, it limits the amount of shots you can make based on your progression. The meter doesn't fill up that fast either, I can imagine a situation where you'd have to stop being on the offensive for a short time so you can regain energy.

Yea, there definitely is some charging in the game.

But the thing that stuck out for me in the video is that Link's spin attack didn't take up stamina/magic.

That demo looks AWESOME in motion. Insane hype levels.

Spinning tiles! Big and Small keys! Breakable floor! Feels good man. Even the small stuff like the carpet in front of the boss door.

You can hear the music in the second video. The nostalgia! It hurts so goooooood!

I didn't like that dungeon remix too much. The boss battle theme sounded cool though.

Also, there was one part in that video where the action paused so we can hear the Zelda chime. Boooooo! Not a deal breaker, but the original LTTP didn't pause for that stuff.

Also getting the impression we'll be getting rich pretty quick. I hope there is something to spend those silver ruppees on.

Hmm, the game seems to be actively running all a set of floors at once. Aka, floors aren't frozen until you reach that floor level (by falling or jumping up). There are a couple of shots in the video where you can see a clear three floors down and the baddies the swimming around like mad. Just a thing of note before you complain about not pushing the system.

Yeah. I think that can make for some interesting action sections. Have us be a litte careful when jumping down. It'd be cool to see some bosses take some advantage of the whole tier thing too. Now I'm thinking about Dark Souls and the jump stab thing. :D

Don't derail, we're having quite a jolly time in here. Also, I think that's technically port begging...

Im not port begging... Im just wondering why they are releasing so many great games on 3ds when it seems logical to release them on both systems. (seeing as the wii tablet could be the second screen). Besides, I'm not asking for it to release on a microsoft or sony console, I'm curious about nintendo to nintendo. But your right, I wont derail thread. Sorry.

It took a while for beastmode nintendo to show up for 3ds. Wii u beastmode is coming.

Oh okay I get you. I think, for example Luigi's Mansion 2 is suited to portable play. The mission structure might get frustrating on lengthened play.

StealthxHawk Does have a point.

This would be great for it to also come to the Wii U eShop, so both Wii U and 3DS gamers can play the game.

But than again, Wii U is getting Wind Waker HD and a new Zelda game so maybe that's why.

Yeah. If shit works both ways and we get a Wind Waker 3D too, then hell yes.

Wait the game doesn't have a real title, I guess that is how they can announce this more effectively at e3 and still get some early press.
