The only thing I really want them to improve are the Maps. In my honest opinion MW3 had the worst/bland/uninspired maps, ever*

*Did not play the DLC Maps.

No WiiU isn't surprising given Blops2's sales on WiiU. But if that system doesn't get CoD? That system is even deader than it already is D:

Nah. If it comes out the same month as Mario Kart, they won't really mind, I don't think. I suspect it'll get this, anyway. It'll be a last-minute port, based on status post-E3, I should think. And if it's not this, it'll be a part-Nintendo funded CoD: GHOSTS quasi spin-off or something.

Infinity Ward is making it? I thought the studio was going to be working on something different. I guess not...

I assume Call of Duty is made the same way a lot of big, yearly iteration franchises are made: lots of studios technically work on the project, but one will be credited as the core developer. I wouldn't be surprised if Infinity War, Nihilistic, and Raven all had their hands in this.

Maybe they'll repeat what they did with COD2 / COD2 - The Big Red One?

Sledgehammer making something else alongside this maybe? if IW still needs the help of them and possibly neversoft and Raven, then lol. I imagine they hired replacements since then.

likely just not taking preorders for nextgen version yet, because these things will go out before xbox is announced. they might not confirm next gen versions until e3 even, WiiU version was announced very late too last year. (not saying this will come to WiiU, just a reference for an upcoming platform & CoD)

Well as long as the engine is a new one for next gen then I'm in. I stopped buying after Black Ops since they recycled their engine more noticeably than most other companies do.

Wasn't the initial rumor that Ghosts would be the 720/PS4 game and MW4 would be current gen? I wonder how this will work. Hopefully if Ghosts is for both (I see no PS4 logo...) they develop the next gen version first.

Of all the big third party series, COD is the one I would expect to see on Wii U at least once more. Black Ops II had pretty bad sales to put it mildly, but was reportedly still the best selling third party game on the console apart from Sonic Racing and ZombiU. Plus, there's a history of the series selling decently (~1m each, with even MW3 in the Wii's dying days hitting around 500k) on Nintendo consoles so it would seem rash of Activision not to try at least once more, even if the port is likely to be quick and cheap.

Yeah, this. MW3 was developed by Infinity Ward, Sledgehammer, Raven, Treyarch and Neversoft, but only two of those were on the box.

Yeah I was kind of wondering about the Wii U absence as well, since there seems to be no listing on TESCO's site either?

I can get leaving it out of a flyer, but a website seems a bit more odd.

Pretty much every single COD game dating back to Wii on Nintendo consoles have been announced way after the 360/PS3 versions so its no surprise its not listed yet.

Like 5-10x as much if I recall.

I think it was more like between 3-4x if I recall, but I don't have a source; heard it awhile back. But either way, yeah, it wasn't even close. Not a huge surprise, since Vita has a larger install base (vs. zero at Wii U launch) that skews more towards "dudebros" that are into shooters.

No new COD or a Battlefield game on Wii U....oh my.

Eh, if it's using the same engine as we've seen the last few years, I'd still expect a Wii U port even though they haven't mentioned it yet. The porting cost is likely not very big and they should easily turn a profit as long as it sells six figures.

That said, I won't be heartbroken if it doesn't come to Wii U. It'll save me the $60, and I know there'll be plenty of other games to play end of 2013/early 2014. I WILL somewhat miss my yearly dose of wiimote/nunchuck shooter controls though. The outlook for that controls scheme for shooters moving forward appears bleak. :(

Also this. I think they'll take at least one more crack at it.

Correct assumption (it has been this way since at least MW2/BlOps 1), however, Nihilistic no longer exists traditionally. They transformed into a mobile outfit. Neversoft maybe?

I'd be disappointed to see a cross-gen game, would rather have a separate game for each gen. The "engine" nonsense doesn't bother me since that doesn't mean anything anyway--lots of studios reuse code and share code. Who cares if they use the same "engine?"

Yeah sorry, I misread a statement. It's actually ~ 4 games per hardware. Nintendoland and NSMB2 most likely are two of them.
I think Declassified was somewhere around 500k or more. Some say it is the best selling Vita game, which would put it above 600k at least since that's how AC:L sold and we know U:GA did 500k sometime last september, if I remember correctly.

I did not play DLC either because it was not available on the Wii. I agree they were bland and uninspired but I would have to give it to BO2 for being the worst.

Bakaara was a good map IMO and none of the maps on BO2 are as good as that one.

What horrible boxart.

Anyways, I think it's interesting and sort of
not really
a gamble that they are ditching the Modern Warfare name. Of course 'Call of Duty' is enough to push units, but it'll be interesting to see how this new 'sub-IP' will be implemented and advertised.

In the end, I have a hard time believing that they'll implement any large, game changing features in fear of alienating the franchise. I also like how they're still trying to cash-in on the Cpt. Price hat.
