Call of Duty: Ghosts teaser site goes live

I wish Activision/IW would take this as a chance to reboot the franchise. CoD4 was downright amazing and nothing has matched it, yet. I think it speaks for itself when the campaign can make people (including me) become so fascinated with the history and events surrounding Chernobyl and Pripyat.

Did it compel you to play the STALKER series?

Ok... honest question here. A Call of Duty Game mixed with Fatal Frame involving ghosts of fallen warriors, horror elements and supernatural add ons for the weapons is a good idea ... right?

hope it more than just a 4-5 hr campaign full of set pieces and the same MP on slightly different maps... but it won't be. Guess I can only blame myself since I keep buying them...

I don't even know if anyone at Activision is still left that understands what makes Call of Duty 4 a great game.

Call of Duty: Ghosts
Recon

If the rumors are true and Spec Ops is gone, I wonder if the game will have another hopefully 4-player co-op focused mode.

dude on the cover looks young

The original rumour list, which correctly identified the title as Call of Duty: Ghosts, said it takes place after Modern Warfare 3.

Ghost isn't one person. A series of people wear the mask and it gets passed on when one dies.

Made that up, but it sounds right.

It was the trail blazer for blockbuster military campaigns, and it did all the right things.
I had to edit in "at Activision".

I know that game fans, and myself included, understand why Call of Duty 4 is better than everything that has come after it. I just don't think anyone working on the games does, anymore.

I agree, it seems like they just toss on a new skin add some perks and call it a day.

Wife and I used to love playing CoD together but after Black Ops (first one) we just grew tired of it all. Hopefully they can do something fresh on the new consoles because it really is a fun game to play for a hour or so.

He's a symbol. An idea. A beacon of hope his friends, and a symbol of terror for his enemies. Every generation another dons the mask, and each is just as devoid of any real personality and characterisation as the last. And people will love him regardless. Because man that mask is dope.

Got it, and agreed.

It's very disappointing how the series has been unable to capture what CoD4 perfectly did.

We just re-created Army of Two.

That's why I kept buying CoD for so many years. It was just a game with good replay value as I could play here-and-there over the span of quite a few months.

I actually hope that's the case. I'm pretty sure that the gameplay would extremely suffer from an engine change. Just look at what happened to CoD 3

A French soldier caused outrage by wearing a Ghost mask, probably because it ranks above thermonuclear war in terms of intimidation. Perhaps because simply staring at it has the same effect of being water boarded for 6 hours straight, including feeling of drowning. Ultimately, the amount of enemy forces who surrendered as a direct consequence of looking at it made the French government envious.

I think they know exactly what made COD 4 so good but they can't back down in that direction anymore. MW2 set the series in a (horrible IMO) direction of many killstreaks, even more over the top multiplayer etc. The majority of CODs fans now want that. It's also the reason I can't get excited about whatever Respawn are working on until I see it, not a MW2 fan tbh BUT they did make COD4 so it can go either way. I played near enough exclusively Barebones mode in BLOPS and you had, at the very most, 1k - 2k people playing that and that was at peak times. Out of the fanbase it has that is fuck all and they removed it in BLOPS 2 as well. As much as I love COD2/COD4/BLOPS gone are the good ol days of less is more. But the fans enjoy it so I guess that's what matters, I'm a very very small minority in the fanbase today. To give you an example Treyarchs multi lead David Vonderharr said in an interview he prefers a slower, more tactical game but the fans kept saying to them 'Faster! FASTER!!!!!!!' which lead to Black Ops 2. I'd be very interested to see what type of multi they'd make if they were allowed to do what they wanted.

Man, CoD3 was awful. If they hadn't bounced back with MW I would gave up right there.
