SCEE exec teases "an amazing big title coming to Vita" [Not an indie title]

I like how both Nintendo and Sony are sitting on big announcements for WiiU and Vita that might move units right now, but wait for an event where they're 100% guaranteed to be overshadowed by new consoles.

We don't know if that's true in either case. Nintendo is bouncing from E3, and their little Direct or whatever could be well before that event, and we have no idea what Sony is doing with the Vita. The Vita was totally MIA last year...

who said this?

Talking about E3 last year. Sony actually had a shitload of games to show but decided against showing them at the conference because they didn't think anyone would want to see a camera pointed at a Vita screen for the demo like they do in Japan. Yea.

They should borrow Jeff Gerstmann's sweet new Vita. Maybe he can rent it to them for a nominal fee?

Well, he did say it's a 3rd party publisher. That would mean:

-EA
-Ubisoft
-Take-Two
-Zenimax/Bethesda
-Sega
-Capcom
-Square Enix
-Kotch/Deep Silver
-Namco Bandai
-Warner Bros.

To list the big ones and technically, these guys have published and are noteworthy IMO:

-CDProjekt Red
-Valve
-Crytek

Now, of all of these, I'd cross out Kotch, EA, Crytek, Bethesda, and CDProjekt based on their to-date, minimal efforts on handhelds. Ditto for Valve, as much as I wish it were otherwise.

So that leaves:

-Ubisoft
-Take-Two
-Sega
-Capcom
-Square Enix
-Namco Bandai
-Warner Bros.

Now, Randy Pitchford saying just about anything means all of nothing nowadays, but he has been vocal about wanting Borderlands on Vita, if Sony foots the bill. Ken Levine likewise, although his word holds a lot more word than Pitchford's, IMO. Take-Two publishes both of these franchises, so it'd be at least worth keeping Take-Two as an option. Not to mention GTA's presence on the PSP.

Of the Japanese publishers, the only ones that really have anything big that are getting the kind of hype we're seeing would be Square and Namco Bandai(as in, Souls). Capcom has said no to Monster Hunter, and outside of that their current franchise selection is mostly fighters. Sega has PSO2, but that doesn't seem like the kind of game that would have someone in SCEE jumping in glee, does it? And aside from that, it's already been announced; if this is the big announcement, it'd be a massive disappointment as far as hyping goes; we knew it's supposed to be coming.

Disclaimer: I want to pick up PSO2, do not jump me.

Meanwhile, Warner Bros. has a fairly limited line-up of games, and we know there's a Batman Metroidvania coming to the PS Vita already, so I'm not sure what else they can add. Ubisoft on the other hand has stated loudly that they want to do more with the Vita. So they're fairly likely. That would make the runner-ups:

-Ubisoft
-Take-Two
-Square
-Namco-Bandai(by a thread, assuming they can get From Software to make a follow-up to Demons Souls)

^This is all speculation based on two minute's worth of thinking.

Dude works for SCEE so is it safe to say this is probably a European developed title?

That would narrow things down to basically Rockstar and a few others.

It has to be

Square-enix made several Final Fantasy remakes for the DS, what would it take to get a FF VII remake on the vita?

Given how expensive development is these days, I doubt FF VII will ever come to the PS4. But why not Vita? There would be much lower development costs, and I guarantee folks will buy it.

Perhaps SE is waiting for a rainy day when things are really desperate. It worked for Nintendo with Ocarina of Time on the 3DS. But Nintendo does own the rights to Zelda whereas the Final Fantasy + Sony bandwagon drove away long ago.

Was this necessary? One silver lining: when he's on his "permanent vacation" enjoying a fat ass severance package and planning his next move, he'll know you'll still be here bitterly posting away at night and flipping burgers by day.

Damnnnn! Yeah I agree though, what that guy said was completely inappropriate.

If I were Kaz I'd have those photoshops all over my office wall.

This is so awesome to know.

Hey guys why don't we play a game? :)
Let's gues the game! XD
One game only per post.
Clues: big, not indie, not port, third party publisher game.

There are many rumored candidates, but i don't want to be obvious so i say gta 5 stories.

I'm gonna take a wild guess and say Half Life 3 is going to be a Vita/Steam exclusive.

ULTROS!

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.
Chrono Break will be something that will shock me.

Understatement of the year.

They are still actively involved. FF X/X-2 is coming to the PS3 and the Vita and they already confirmed a FF for the PS4 in February. Also, there are strong rumors that Sony is even helping fund/develop FF Versus/FF XV, which might be a PS exclusive.

This would actually make sense. I don't care what Wada says about needing to top FFVII, the only reason holding SE back from a FFVII remake is console development costs.

I choose not too. It'll happen after 5 & 6.

I think you mean after 6, I hate to break it to you but they recently remade FF5 for IOS and it has truly terrible sprite work.

Think what they did for FF4: complete collection except instead of good sprites for the main characters they kept in the aweful placeholder character art...

If it was not for the character spritework I would be port begging. Love me some FF5.

My guess for the reveal is either something from take two or from square. I think EA would be a dark horse (something that they previously haven't released on a portable going to the vita)

this show is not Breaking Bad why is it not Breaking Bad? it should be Breaking Bad dammit Breaking Bad
Final Fantasy VII: REBIRTH would definitely be cause for fainting, and a hospital check-in.
Heck, it would also shake the Earth.

I haven't been following the thread since after a few pages, so I'm not sure if this was brought up but: could it possibly be GT 6? I'm not sure if that has been confirmed for the PS3, but even then maybe it could be a cross-platform game.
