Shocking News: Rockstar won't be showing GTA 5 at E3

Rockstar skipping E3, but has plans to reveal more about GTA 5 over the summer.

Rockstar will not be attending E3, parent company Take-Two has confirmed.

Instead, the publisher intends to reveal more details about GTA 5 at events dotted throughout the summer.

"This year, our labels will not have a booth on the show floor," said Take-Two president Karl Slatoff during the company's financial results last night (via Seeking Alpha).

"Both Rockstar Games and 2K have instead decided to focus their marketing and PR efforts on a series of events throughout the spring and summer. Our team, however, will be present at the show, and we look forward to seeing many of you there."

"Our philosophy on the show is that we like the show, we participate in a meaningful way in the show," he later added. "It's a great place for the industry to get together, and we're highly supportive of it. This year it just didn't make sense for us at the same level."

Rockstar's E3 absence joins sister company 2K, which confirmed last month that it would not be exhibiting at the show.

E3 begins in just a few short weeks on June 11, where the majority of publishers are expected to offer more details on their next-gen line-up.

We need a gameplay overview series for GTA V like R* did for Red Dead, L.A. Noire and MP 3. GTA V skipping E3 is expected, R* beat to their own drum.

Highly unlikely. Next Gen versions will come, but only be announced after GTA V and all of its DLC has been released for current gen.

For the most part, I need to play this game. All the videos and previews and stuff are just an appetizer.

For those thinking GTA V is going to be on next gen consoles, lets make a bet.

I wager Red Dead Redemption will get a PC release soon. Why? Because if GTA V ends up being not available day one on PC people are going to get all sorts of pissed. So, the bet is what will end up happening and when; Red Dead Redemption on PC Vs. GTA V Next gen.

My wager? Red Dead Redemption on PC, and there won't be any next gen version of GTA V.

I would bet real money CoD, Battlefield and GTA(If not a 720 port, then repping the 360 version) will appear at the MS conference in some form or other. Any questions pertaining to exclusivity or anything I wouldn't be sure enough to bet on... but the biggest third party stuff is obvs gonna be there if it's anywhere.

I still wouldn't be surprised if MS or Sony managed to at least bring on some guys for an announcement. With the start of a new generation I'd want to show the heavy hitters.

Maybe even some new tattoos, who know's..
