Several thousand aerodynamic parts and custom wheels will be available for almost all cars, and players can personalise their own custom cars in-game as well.

Glorious. Based Kazunori.

Don't buy it. I'll enjoy this and Drive Club when it hits too.

"The news was revealed today by Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi at an event held to celebrate 15 years of the top-selling series."

LOL. The event haven't even started yet.

Did you even read the post you quoted? I said it should be on both.

Why? I'd bet that Polyphony has two teams, and that a separate (much larger) portion of the studio is currently working on a next gen GT. It makes perfect sense for them to release a new GT as soon as possible for PS3 to help bolster their revenue for continued PS4 development.

It does them no good to rush into a PS4 release of a GT if the end result is going to be less than stellar. PS4 release will need more premium cars, as Standard cars simply will not cut it comparatively to all of the next gen content. This makes sense, you're being irrational.

GT6 will inevitably make Sony a lot of money at a time when they'll be making initial heavy losses with a hardware launch. Money which they can then reinvest in to the PS4 launch marketing etc. I get that. It also helps keep their loyal PS3 customers away from Durango, even if they're on the fence about PS4.

But the usual point of first party software is to drive new hardware sales, to lead the platform. This is the opposite of that. This is a publisher looking to have profitable success with an existing install base, and is likely to only delay the launch of GT7 on PS4.

Eh?

They don't need GT6 to drive PS4 sales early on since they going to sell out once they price the system right .
What people don't seem to understand is you don't put your biggest IP at launch when you going to run into supply problem and have no install base.
The earliest people could have hope to see GT on PS4 is 1 year afterwards like on PS2.

Also having GT cross gen would just be rush and hurt drive club sales .

I have a PS3 so this is fine by me...

but i still think this "press release" is kind of strange.. just looked throough some of my older press releases regarding Gran Turismo.. an the only "game" that ever was shortened down to GT was GT-academy.. just sems strange to write GT6 in a press release, unless they are rebranding the franchise a bit..

I'm ok with this.I'm sure Polyphony can do so much more on PS3 than they did with GT5.Bring it on!

And i like that it's not a cross gen title. That would've kept the quality down on the PS4 version and i want nothing to keep down the quality of a next gen GT.

Very smart move on Sony's behalf. PS4 will get a lot of game announcements in the coming months but it's good to see Sony still values its PS3 userbase who will continue to play it long after the next gen systems are out.

I will say that there seems to be something off about that press release. Looking through older press releases for the series and I can't find one example of a Sony exec or Kaz referring to it was "GT". It's always "Gran Turismo".

I'll wait for the official press release, but PS3 and no cross-buy for Vita really is a missed opportunity if true.
Don't know if I'll buy it at all, but then again I haven't bought any DLC tracks for the vanilla GT5 and those combined with the new ones from GT6 could be enough to convince me...but the price has to be right.

ITT people know the ps4 price and the demand for the system.

Sellouts are absolutely NOT guaranteed. It is a mistake to not port it to ps4, whether you like it or not.

It's good to support your old platforms, but this is a step too far.

Imagine halo 5 on the 360 when the durango is out... yea.

SONY have to sell the console that will carry them for the next 5 to 7 years, not give people a reason not to buy it.

Porting from ps3 to ps4 would not be trivial given the architecture differences plus releasing it as a retail ps4 game would only make the ps4 look like a tiny upgrade over ps3.

That is bullshit. Killer apps are what sell consoles.

It's basically GT 5 finished, what a sloppy milking of a franchise..

Of course they are going to do it this is the Madden of console sims

What the fuck are You talking about? Thats milking? So what are You saying about racing games like NFS [5 entries], Dirt [4 entries] or Forza [4 entries]?

Isn't that exactly what platform Halo 5 and 6 are going to be on? Wasn't it three new Halo games announced for 360 starting with Halo 4?

I'll pre-face this by saying that we don't have all of the information yet... so I can't be certain.

However - they're saying 1200 cars - which almost certainly means that they've stuck with the Premium/Standard setup.

If so - fuck PD. I will not buy another GT until they fix that shit.
I should be able to mod and cockpit view most (if not all) of the cars available to me.

Last GT game I played was 3. Is picking up GT5 for cheap worth it you think? Or I could just play Forza...

blasphemy

Why is everyone so surprised it is for PS3?

I mean really, you expect Sony to drop first party games for PS3, just because PS4 is coming this year?

Well people, not everyone that owns a PS3 will be getting a PS4 straight away. What are they supposed to play exactly?

This complaint comes across as sour grapes. ''I will have a Ps4 by then so fuck people that do not''.

PS4 early adopters get a racing game all the same. Putting this and DC on PS4 in first year would have been a stupid move. They would limit sales of the new IP and piss off PS3 only owners.

So much sense in this post that will be ignored by GAF

First GT I am skipping. Sucks for Sony.

lol

Why PS3?

Seems like a waste of resources developing for a console in its eleventh hour. I know the PS2 enjoyed sales into the release of PS3, but that might have been one of the reasons PS3 sucked for a few years after launch.

You're right. They should have never made Persona 4 or God of War 2.

Oh wait. They were awesome games. Never mind.

There are several Halo's on 360 including Halo 4 which is part of a new trilogy. PS3 only has one proper GT game, it deserves another.

I'm an expert

Formerly worldrevolution. The only reason I am nice to anyone else is to avoid being banned.
5 didn't even come out that long ago. I'm still not done with it. I would skip 6 either way.

They could do so much more on ps4 hardware. You'd think polyphony being so close to Sony would have access to ps4 dev kits as early as possible and it's not like the generation jump is as big as Psx -> ps2. So why not a cross gen release. A port with locked 60fps @ 1080p would be enough for me, without any of the stupid loading screens and ridiculous installs/patches.

You guys can ignore me, but I thought the event has not started yet. How could it already be announced?

This is just Sony's way to say: "Sorry Europe, you'll get PS4 next year. But you'll get a new Gran Turismo this year!"

Yeah, sure. Hmmm Madden = 1 game annually. GT =!= 1 game annually. Lemme think, what OTHER console sim is there that actually DOES relase games annually (or at least on a closer schedule than GT)?
This should probably be locked.

As the Mods at GT Planet have pointed out. THE PRESS EVENT HASN'T EVEN HAPPENED YET lol.

This. News is probably fake. Doesn't read like a real press release at all.

If GT6 does not release on PS4 as well as the PS3 surely that means waiting for GT7 on the PS4, but how long would that take? 3 years?

Surely something has got to be in the works for the PS4 so we see GT on the PS4 within a year of the PS4 release date surely?
