Nate Wells: "And I REALLY can't prepare you for the best MP ever conceived" (TLoU)

I imagine they want the focus to be on the single player, and want people to discover the multiplayer side of it themselves. I am sure there are a lot of studies/data out there that show that games that offer multiplayer often people jump straight into that ans not even bother with the campaign. Which is the exact opposite of what ND wants. In fact I would lock the multiplayer until you played through the campaign.

Then I am hoping it is something very different than your regular deathmatch, conquest or attack and defend. And not a regular deathmatch with asymmetrical teams.

Yeah it seems to me that an easy "get" (so to speak) would be a seamless drop-in drop-out type setup where you can just spawn as a random desperate NPC, sort of similar to Day Z.

Ohh standalone MP that I don't have to pay for if I want to play the singleplayer game, AWESOME Nate.

If I were a publisher, I would totally be happy to oblige this silly opinion. Want no multiplayer? Ok, the game still costs sixty dollars, and you can download an MP-less version. And if you decide you want to play it later because of everyone who's not crazy when it comes to MP in video games raving about it, it'll only cost you ten bucks.

Sounds good to me.

Why are Naughty Dog pretending they make fun games rather than graphically impressive showcases?

Oh no, another person who doesn't enjoy a game and so goes on to bash it and says its not a good or fun game, never heard of this happening before...

Believe it or not, and I will blow your mind here, MANY people do find these games fun, exciting and enjoyable. Yes, how can ANYONE have a different opinion to you right...

Anyway, I don't think the MP will be that good sadly, I mean we haven't really had any news, from modes, footage and what is to be expected. As long as the SP is good and long ( seems to be) I am fine.

Imagine playing in an area full of clickers with 4 other players. The fun you could have throwing bottles near other players to attract the clickers to them ... Or how about rounding clickers up together! Get them into a room and lock the door.

lol its like if a game has good graphics is suddenly said that people only like it for the graphics.

Imagine this for MP:

16 players in massive city. Objective survive: you can explore the city for items which will be randomly spawned in different buildings, rooms, furniture etc. and when confronted with other players you could either team up or kill them for loot. Kinda like Day Z. Night comes and tickers come out. Last man standing after the ticker assault wins.

That is my main wish for the MP, A massive hunter style mode ( except all survivors maybe) which consists of surviving, looting and making tough decisions.

You can team up or go alone or be a bandit, last survivor wins.

To make it not last too long, there could be an option for a timer or something

This style of mode alone would be enough.

A multiplayer mode that capitalizes on restricted resources and the tension of stalking other players punctuated by brief, intense violence could be really good. The theme, mechanics, and pace of the game provide a great foundation for multiplayer modes that aren't just dudes running around shooting each other. I'm sure ND are fully aware of that.

This is sort of what I'm thinking too. Maybe a few different scenarios to be tossed into. Another would be you're on a team from the beginning, against another 1-3 teams, and each starts on a different end of the city and the goal is to make it to the center to grab some item before the other and then get the hell out of the city with it.

So you'd have team-based puzzle-solving, traversal, platforming, etc, mixed in with setting traps, ambushes, and standard gunplay.

Though I am afraid that any open-world is too much to hope for. Doesn't look like the single-player has it, after all.

I want to believe, but I never play the MP on games that primarily focus on SP.

Poor man's Sully.

But that's a cigar.
It's classy.

Other way around, singleplayer only fifty dollars, want MP go download for ten dollar extra.

Stupid idea.If the MP is part of the game ti should not be a separate download of for no reason.

I also doubt the MP would get the support it needs doing it that way.

oh shit, guys.

Dave's got the Fair & Objective Scale!

Hand it over! We've been looking for that thing for ages. If you wouldn't mind. Before you leave the thread talking about such a mediocre dev. Thanks.

Uc2 was one of the best mps ive ever experienced on a console i wont through out his claim. If anyone can do it ND can. along with visuals they give us some of the best controls and gameplay!!!!!

I'm a little confused. Is there ANOTHER fair and objective scale? I have it at around 9/10.

when i hear multiplayer for this game i think about the way it was implemented in demon's/dark souls and hope it will be something along those lines. something different than what we usually think about upon hearing the word "multiplayer"

in any case im looking forward to trying it

Well hopefully the multiplayer actually functions most of the time unlike Dark Souls.

He also said that Daft Punk are 99% popular because of their persona/helmets and the other 1% is from Kanye. -_- I can't take his opinions anywhere near the word 'reality'.

OT: Looking forward to what they have after enjoying both UC2 and UC3 MP a lot.

make sure the pudding isn't too soggy but that just ruins everything
I'm usually in the "please don't shoehorn in multiplayer" camp... but something about this... I have this feeling...

Yay, I'm excited! I hope I enjoy it. I'm kind of done with Uncharted 3's multiplayer since it just isn't as good as Uncharted 2's is, so this should be the next multiplayer game I put a lot of time into. :)

No TPS will ever compare to a good FPS. The reason being with TPS you can see around walls without giving your position away.

By the many reviewers who raved and gave Uc2 high ratings not only for its sp aspect but also its great mp. By the many that awarded it the most awarded game in history yes for its visuals but also its all around appeal and great gaming in all aspects including mp. By the many upon many gamers that still play this mp to date and is always well populated.

I think you would be hard pressed to find many that didnt think the mp was great besides a few trolls onneogaf or maybe some ppl that genuinely arent into this kind of mp.
