I really hope COD isn't as big next gen I am really getting sick of hearing about that franchise and needs to go into obscurity. I wish the frat boys would pick another game to be their "go to" every year, like the Yakuza games. Then we may finally get Y5 in the West...
if Nintendo hasn't locked up the franchise as an exclusive.

I have a feeling a lot of the bigger Japanese devs will make a comeback this upcoming gen.
And I have never liked FIFA. Seeing that Edge article sneak peak of next-gen PES gives me hope at least.

League of Legends is big everywhere. Look on Twitch.tv. I am kind of bummed if it is 720 exclusive. Well, only if you keep the stuff you bought with the PC version. Otherwise, sticking with PC version.

Are MOBA games even a big deal for consoles? They seem like one of those genres that's designed for PC's. Sort of like RTS titles. They can work on consoles, but if you've got an option then you go with the PC version.
That would be the obvious counter. The one to Hawken is probably going to be Planetside 2.
But either way, I can't see the MOBA genre being huge on consoles - this genre just doesn't seem like one that can be played well with a controller.

I don't know how Minecraft even works but I have really hard time seeing MOBAs like LOL or DOTA doing anything for consoles. People have played them on the PC forever, the fanbase is there, the game works there, the professionals are there... I just don't know what console version is gonna do. Just seems so fuckin pointless. Stuff like Hawken I can see.
As a huge MOBA nut from DotA days of old to the HoN/DotA2 I just can't see many people wanting to play them on consoles. I'd imagine the people who hate PC gaming for some reason just going for other games instead. They don't want these games.
Edit: Just to be clear MOBAs can be big on consoles but if it happens it won't be LOL or DotA unless they are completely reworked and basically a whole new game just riding on the name.
Maybe, but Sony made quite abit of progress with Valve this gen despite them not developing allot of games anymore. With some of the things Gabe has said about Sony, I could see Sony and Valve partnering for DOTA on PS4 if they were going to put it on a console.
Who knows though since Valve is pretty quiet about pretty much everything these days.

I've been thinking about that. The only way I can see it working is if Xbox LoL doesn't have cross-play to PC, because KB+M is much better than a controller for League.
Not to mention that even if League is free-to-play on the Xbox that no one will pick it up. The entire LoL target-market is on PC, and I just can't see it working without cross-PC play. It would be cool to use the Xbox to stream LCS, playoffs and Worlds to your TV though.
Also these last two pages of CoD and BF exclusive talk is hilarious, don't you guys keep up with old news?
This year is different, we've had no leaks so far. All bets are off at this point.

Games from Valve no doubt will appear on PS4+Durango but I reallly doubt DotA is one of them. Would they really bother making a console version? Either they would need to remake the whole game or the game would fuckin suck.
Of course you could always stick your mouse and keyboard to your consoles but at that point I think people rather play them on PC.
I can totally see TF2 on consoles again especially if the patching system is open. F2P is gonna be big on next gen consoles.

How do you fellow PS fans feel about Insomniac making a Xbox exclusive game? I was always more of a Naughty Dog and Ape Escape fan so it doesn't bother me much.
I think Xbox will be more powerful than PS4. MS has Epic, Crytek, DirectX team etc...they will 1up Sony for sure IMO

Insomniac has really only made one really good game this generation.
Don't think anyone cares much about them outside of their already ps-exclusive IPs.

Depends entirely what they show. If it's something like Fuse they will be the laughing stock of the forums. If it is something that looks like Insomniac at its best (platformer action or whatever) that looks really good then there could be salt.
Fuse kinda makes Insomniac look bad right now :/ They made one of my favourite games of the gen (ACiT) but I just don't know what is going on there anymore.
As long is they make another Ratchet I am fine with it.
I think more GB of GDDR3 ram, but strongly doubt a boost in GPU power.
Would probably need to be a separate community altogether, the console community would get demolished by the PC one.

yea I played the demo for Fuse and Ratchet and Clank A Crack in Time recently. Wasn't impressed by Fuse at all, but I liked the Ratchet demo. Resistance 3 was a pretty good FPS IMO (better than Crysis 2 and Crysis 3).
I hope Insomniac is successful with MS.

yea I think Fuse was a low budget game. To be honest, I haven't played a single decent "EA partners" game.
At this point, it isn't even clear whether DirectX is a technology Microsoft plans on continuing development for, there seem to be no plans for the future.
Epic's future as a games developer is in question as well (beyond Epic Fortnite), but their studio People Can Fly could potentially produce new Gears titles.
Crytek is an independent studio, they are producing an exclusive for MS but are in no way affiliated with Microsoft.
I have only really ever cared for R&C from Insomniac so its not a huge deal to me because MS will never be able to get an exclusive R&C.
Not only that but LoL community is one of the most aggressive/unfriendly communities out there just try playing a game and make one mistake you'll never hear the end of it.
It would be hilarious if Riot actually has a team working on League for console whilst we still have to put up with weekly server problems and the disastrously outdated PC client.
Sony has Sony, ND, Guerilla, Santa Monica, Quantic Dream, etc...
Listing third-party devs is a pretty null argument. Isn't the PS4 GPU supposed/rumoured to be AMD anyway? I've no doubt that AMD would be more than happy to work with Sony to make something more powerful than whatever MS uses.
I'd like to see the PS4 be more powerful than the Xbox, simply because I enjoy the status-quo we have going on this gen, but ultimately I'd rather see them neck and neck on power.
It would be pretty weird isn't the whole reason they avoided being bought by Sony so they can remain independent and make multiplatform games, minus their existing properties?

Valve makes too much money with steam/TF2/counter strike etc. The PS3 port of Counter Strike GO was complete ass, it hasn't even patched once and the game still isn't out in Europe. I think Valve is done with consoles.

Personally, I would be fine with Insomniac making a 720 exclusive. I enjoyed Tools of Destruction and Resistance 3 impressed me (aside from deleting my save data), but I feel they have dried up their creative wells a little, and Fuse hasn't interested me much. I am tired of R&C as well, unless they add more depth. Enjoyed their humour though.
Not necessarily multi platform, but they do want to own their IPs. Microsoft publishes games they don't own the IP for, such as Gears Of War and Alan Wake. They usually have clauses such as rights of refusal for sequels and the like, but the developer retains the IP. Sony doesn't do that, they want to own the IP.
