WOOW insane anime....@_@ I love it
As in they have no buffer.
The week starts and they churn out the episode basically hours before it is submitted.

Usually studios have a few episodes done to buy time tmk.

lol that's a little crazy well with like 18 weeks left I'm sure they will be a week they miss or is this going continuously til the end.
Also holy shit you know a show is good when it goes by fast as hell lol 24mins felt like 5

Episode 7

The 2-minute flashback at the beginning scared me, haha. I thought we were in for a full-on recap ep. Unfortunately the time constraints are starting to show, that starting recap was obvious filler and I think there was less animation while they were using the 3DMG in the first half.

But this episode really pulled together in the second half, man.
Mikasa's scene was a big improvement over the manga, goddamn. It's much more exciting and a lot more effective having her actually fight back, and the animation was fantastic. Is that the part Tanaka did? Looked great. .gif where? The music and Eren shouting "Fight! Fight!" gave it a really big impact.

The fighting titan was also well done, it was fantastic when it knocked off that other titan's head. Wit may be bad at scheduling but they know where to spend their animation budget.

Interesting -- the latest news post on the official site says that the 3rd and 6th Blu-ray volumes are going to each come with a special "Blu-ray Disc Visual Novel", in cooperation with Nitroplus, that tells some flashbacks and side stories for some of the characters.
What's that? Like a CYOA VN thing? I hope Connie and Sasha get some time. Maybe Levi.

Don't see how they're going to do that when they have to make a new episode every week honestly. Once a show starts airing, its kinda boned.
They could conceivably take a break between cours 1 and 2, since they only have 25 eps instead of 26.

...but when will they find time to animate that OVA in the summer?

As for me, episode 7
When Mikasa was despondent, Titan is approaching, their is a few scenes of something flashing, and then there is some weird pomegranate looking thing sitting there after she finally "wakes up". What was that? Am I dense? Will it be explained later?
That's the Pomegranate of Vengeance, it becomes the new new MC after Mikasa is eaten by Gabe Newell for asking when Ep3 will come out.

No spoilers!
But seriously, does anybody know? I thought it was the lopped off finger at first, but it doesn't really math the size/texture/etc, didn't melt, the screen time they gave to it seemed too extreme for it to not matter.

I think the stuff flashing is supposed to be a cross section of a muscle. After the stuff with Eren as a kid she said she was fully in control of her body. But here whilst she's sitting there waiting to die, her muscles twitching and then she fights back without realising. The pomegranate is just a pomegranate, it flew out of the stall the titan hit. It's not in the manga anyway.

just watched the episode and i love it. once again the show continues to please me. second half once again was great. good animation all around. cant wait to see the gifs

When is
a pomegranate just a pomegranate? Is this really a spoiler? Questions like these need answers. I looked at a screencap. When I saw it initially I thought it just looked like a pomegranate. I have now confirmed it is a pomegranate. The question is whether I can be arsed to research pomegranate symbolism?

I've been waiting for peoples reactions to this episode, good to see it was handled well. Can't wait to get home and watch it myself!

That was really good. Especially the part when
Mikasa rallies the rookie's to keep fighting and not give up, and also the part when she gives up in front of the titan but then is reminded of Eren and finds the will to carry on.

Next episode is going to be great. Can't wait.

I just heard that in Buddhist cultures there's an urban legend that they taste like human flesh, maybe that's it.

Also, I am not sure that spoiler tags are necessary when you are talking about pomegranates, lol.

HOW DID THE SOUNDTRACK GET THIS FUCKING GOOD?

Even the pieces they reused was placed in much better scenes.

This was a much much better episode than pretty much all six preceding. The framing, the action, the animation, and the direction all took a huge step up. I would say this is the first episode for me where everything really clicked. They greatly, and I emphasis greatly, improved on the scenes in the manga not to mention added characterization. This was so much better.

Okay, am I the only who thinks it's pretty obvious who the Anti-Social Titan is? He isn't a Titan that's for sure as Titans don't kill other Titans and they sure as hell don't box. It's obviously meant to be us, the viewer. That Titan is a rebel, he's raging against the machine and lashing out at his "oppressors''. He's so full of hated and rage that he turned into a skeleton titan.

HOLD IT ONE FUCKING SECOND. (Ep 7 Stuff.)

The fighting Titan TOTALLY has to be Eren. I'm guessing it has something to do with the serum his dad injected him with earlier.

Let's think about this:

1: He knows about the Titan weak spot.

2: He knows how to use human hand-hand combat. Unless Titans are normally fighting all of the time, there's absolutely no reason for them to have developed intelligence AND learned how to fight effectively. They also made a point of showing how Eren improved his hand-hand combat ability. I'd like to think it wasn't a coincidence that they mentioned this.

3: It has the exact same hair, AND the exact same color eyes as Eren. That can't be any coincidence. This show is too good to allow coincidences like that.

4: Not really evidence, but I find it too convenient for the Titan to have saved Mikasa out of nowhere without being a SERIOUSLY important part of the story. If they wanted Mikasa to survive so badly, they could've just had her fight her way past that one Titan.

Those are my thoughts. Anyone else able to weigh in?

I need next week's episode in my veins right now.

Mikasa's fight has some beautiful music

I thought the last song in particular was gorgeous, especially with the vocals. The one where Mikasa is giving the speech is another great one especially near the end when the piano starts to lay in. Then there is the acoustics during the Mikasa fight. The bass that kicks in when their spirits start to pick up after the speech...

Somebody apparently started to give a shit.

It's as obvious as it gets, for the same reasons you mentioned, but particularly because
the whole serum thing wasn't just something they were going to forget about. More importantly I want to know WTF is up with his dad. What's his role and how did he get some Titan serum? Is his occupation as a doctor legit, but also meant to be a cover for something else? Being a doctor makes it easier to get something like a serum, theoretically. And is this all tied to the government? Hmm.

Also we definitely need the OST to come out soon.

So apparently Blu-Ray volumes 3 and 6 will come with little Visual Novels explaining some character backstories. Here's what they're supposed to cover (not really spoilers, but whatever):

Vol. 3
1) Mikasa Gaiden
2) Erwin + Levi past chapter

Vol. 6
1) Erwin + Levi part 2 or something?
2) Eren + Levi gaiden
3) Annie gaiden

Watched Ep 7.

Shit started getting good in the 2nd half of the episode. Will be pretty interesting to see where things go from there.

Just one thing here, based on observations.
The Titans (or the "Abnormal" ones anyway) appear to have some sort of intelligence.
The lesser ones seem to act more on instinct, just going after stuff almost mindlessly, where as the abnormal tend to be actively targeting stuff.

Keep in mind, the Colossal appeared to be targeting the wall cannons (Eren makes a particular note of this) and the Armored appears to be targeting specific spots in the walls. (This especially holds true for the Armored; it could just bust through anywhere if it had no real intelligence to speak of.)

Mind you, I could be wrong.

ep 7

Fantastic episode with some great action and choreography, but I do have one minor hangup. The soundtrack. I'm not saying it's bad. In fact, I fuckin love it. However, some of the tracks seem WAY too triumphant for certain scenes. It's just really unfitting IMO.

Either way, next week is going to be great.

Holy crap that was a great episode. I'm loving the soundtrack so far, and the action scenes are exhilarating to watch. Can't wait till next week!

I just realized that I'm watching both this and HunterxHunter and humans are getting eaten in both.

Not a good time for humanity.

Loved every second of Episode 7. Oh man this anime just keeps getting better and better. [spoilers]The rouge titan is obviously Eren but the way it was handed was amazing.[/spoilers]

The hype is seriously making it hard not to go and read the manga.....

Just watched ep 7. Omg this show is so awesome. Getting misty eyed for Eren and we've only known him 6 episodes. That's pretty great character development and progression. And lol
Mikasa is still the only soldier we've seen take down a titan. Surrounded by soldiers young and old, in a series about killing titans, with an opening animation making them all look like titan-killing ninjas, only one of them has actually killed one up to this point. I guess they are building up to everyone else growing balls and are going to make it a huge turning point.

Also
didn't see Eren turning into a titan coming. Mikasa's memories of him and the part where she had given up made Eren's death even more meaningful. I almost teared up myself. Then they bring him back? Sort of cheapens his "death".

Spoiler tags. How do they work? Seriously I'd be pissed if I came into this thread prior to seeing episode 7.
