Yep. Most of the rumors came true. Everything leaked. One of the respected rumors mentioned being 6 months behind, and I cannot see how someone would say yesterday looked prepared. I believe the rumor.

So MS's E3 is going to be and interminable Smorgasbord of awesome games from start to finish right? I mean they know people don't want to hear that crap from yesterday again at E3 right? so they won't do that right?

This Microsoft marketing strategy of making the console look as horrible as it can look for as long as possible is quite...different.
They let tons of bad rumors build without a single good one to counter it for months, and then decide to confirm all those rumors as true while still not presenting a good thing to counter it, saving the good stuff for later.
Now that many of us are actually hoping for this thing to fail, and not for fanboy reasons, people are going to look for reasons to hate all the good features that I'm sure they have lined up for later.
You'd think best foot forward would be the right way to market any new product, but what do I know.

And that is why its so obviously damage control. This is their gaming system, coming of the huge success of their previous gaming system. People purchased the 360, subscribed, and enjoyed the fuck out of their gaming console. Those people funded the Xboxone.
Coming out of the gate with Live TV functionality for american's is hardly acknowledging any part of your base, and it isn't impossible to do both, as everyone else does.
Just such nonsense.

Ive been preaching this forever. For years I have seen so many gamers preach hate/negativity and turn around when a great game is released and buy the console. I get so sick of it. I can bet that literally 90% of all those talking junk right now if MS shows a ton of great games at E3 they will shut up and secretly want them.

15 exclusives can mean a lot of things and these last few years are clearly evidence of that.
Sometimes I really wonder what is going on at Redmond. $400 million for that BS NFL stuff? I hope that is not true. I mean if it was like Monday night live I could see that....

Keep dreaming they are heavily invested in the TV junk. It will be talked about again on E3 stage. Also don't be shocked when Kinect 2.0 games are the focus with a few bones for the core gamers. MS has made it very clear core gamers are second class citizens on this machine.

There should be no part of a conference that people don't like. If there is something in your conference that you think people will not like you should reconsider the entire strategy of your product.
I know they can't cater to everyone but if there is a segment of your conference that you don't think will be received well to this degree, you have to reexamine the vision you are presenting.

When one feature is talked about more than another does that mean its not the focus? If Sony talks about their online/connectivity and UI features for most of the conference and less on the games. Does that mean they dont have a focus on games?

Microsoft's E3 has been terrible for about.. 8 years now? If everything doesn't leak first.
Both can be done, and was done. I don't know why people are surprised that people would complain that their gaming console reveal showed nothing game related. They showed CGi that was worse than the previous gen, and this is a good thing to some of ya.

Do not believe their lies. E3 will be just as much "tv tv tv sports sports calladutee dog" as ever. They know the mainstream also pays attention at E3, and they know how they want to pitch this thing.
They said straight up beforehand that there weren't going to be many games at all, that it was laying out and announcing the platform itself.
I still think the event was rubbish, but you're acting like they didn't say so before.
You weren't expecting to at least some games teased on a console launch and you are happy they discussed watching TV instead?

I could explain thier aim, but tbh, you're beyond all rationality. A conference dedicated to nothing but games is what you're getting at E3. But again, it won't be enough for this forum.
That is the other big question and in my mind the biggest. Simply put MS has had ample chance to buy up quality studios this gen and refused. They have started to build up some but nowhere near what they need.

But there was barely any hardware talk at the XO reveal, in-fact, they were overly vague about it. It concentrated mainly on TV and services. Which doesn't usually happen even at E3...
Also, weren't you the one that said this 1 hour reveal from Microsoft would be great, all about the games and without the filler? Lol.
As a consistent lover and owner of 360 I have been critical of many things Microsoft gaming in the last few years.
They deserve this critisicm.
The folks that built the 360 are long gone and these guys have a lot to work on.
Number one: core, non-kinect, not just XBLA, software.
I was impressed with the Sony briefing and the tech they are bringing to the table. Not to say I wasn't impressed with anything I saw yesterday, but MS better bring the software.
And that is that.
I think they are in a kind of panic, and probably lying their asses off.
I do remember reading the supposedly <<internal>> microsoft letter around a week or two before today,
when the news where out about some of the drm they are trying to sell us, namely the always on line thing.
In that letter, they flat out lied, saying in an elevated manner "of course our console can play games off line, amongst other things"

imo this is just about how honest microsoft is right now, or maybe even worse now than then.
so, of course they would offer the confirmation (the part that people dont like) of the drm rumors now at the beginning (but still not in the hour that don was on center stage), so that maybe they will have in 20 days a slight chance to wow those of us that have the memory of a hamster. oh, and their newly targeted brand new demographic. lol.

You better sit down before you bust a artery. Backpedaling in that they said "This is for the system and features, and e3 is for games." There were several pre conference posts here that you missed and apparently everyone here missed. The Xbox One is a games console just as much as the PS4. Proove me otherwise. "But but but the press conference....".
Why can't the xbox one do both games and features? 360 and PS3 did it. In fact, the PS3 was sold originally about doing this exact same thing, and it turned out alright.

So, it's been almost eight years since the 360 and they decide to reveal their brand-new system with the part from E3 people don't like? Great plan.

The E3 conference is all about the games. I thought it would be the other way around but does it matter as long as the games are shown?

depending how things go after e3, maybe it will change, or maybe you will be able to see it too. always in my opinion, completely out of any kind of inside info, of friends in places etc. just a simple guy
I'm not sure why it's a problem if someone changes their mind about a console, any console, if it goes from having no games they want to several games they want. Isn't that normal? It's all about the games at the end of the day no? It's why the weaker, less feature-rich system has won almost every console and handheld generation no?
