There was a thread on here last month about them having an ad during it, but it wasn't said if it would be short, long or a simple "Sponsored by" one.
I hope we get one similar to the opening of the February event. This ad seems similar to that one.
The one thing I can think of is if there was some breakdown in communication between Sony and a more external marketing agency, and the latter just took the '2013' thing from the Feb announcement and ran with it in their ad without really running it by Sony.
However, otoh, I don't think Sony would be greenlighting a newspaper or TV marketing budget for PS4 at this point if it wasn't coming until 2014. A Champions League ad touting this would be harder to fathom not being run by Sony fully.
I guess we shall see!
Surely it does? It saysCVG and MCV seem to think this 'confirms' a 2013 EU launch. Not in my eyes. It doesn't confirm anything.
2013?

Happy DS4!
the pad will be released 2013.
Console 2014.
I love the smell of new gen - it's been too long (sorry WiiU)
I love the quantity of power marketing words used; "greatest","amaze","ultimate","push the boundaries","wonder","legends"
Edge said:Update: Sony has sent us this in response:
We announced at the PlayStation Meeting event on Feb 20th that PS4 would be coming in 2013 the adverts are simply re-stating that message. More information about PS4 and all PlayStation Platforms will be announced at E3.
I can't help but think the marketing would be more effective if they just left it as:
I wonder if it'll be any good

I would say this is the best official confirmation yet. An agency most definitely won't run an ad in a big newspaper without documented signoff from the client, in fact the agency doing the ad won't submit it to the newspaper at all but to either Sony or someone like Carat who then submits the ad.
And my take is that Sony would not run something like this unless they had a high confidence and a clear plan to launch this year, it's very easy to drop that one line out of the ad in case there is uncertainty.
Eurgh.
Rowing hype back a bit.
I hope this is just Sony's way of saying 'we want to wait to confirm this at E3', but OTOH they may just be cheeky enough to tease this this without even any internal confirmation of Europe being 2013.

2014 for Australia only confirmed.
If they have this message on the electronic ad boards at the Champions League final (which they'd be silly not to, really), it'll generate a massive amount of interest.Just so people get a bit of perspective of the scale of this CL advert:

Last year's final was viewed by around 300 million people. Massive way to announce your next gen console.
Fucking yeah.

Nah, they just don't want to pre-reveal any information before their UCL advert airs tomorrow I bet. Only one place has even had the rumour, so if there is an advert Sony must have bought the space through an associate and kept it all very quiet indicating that they want to ensure maximum impact and no leaks.
The message in the advert is consistent with that.

Rushy from evolution has just tweeted both the original advert and the "fucking yes" one lol.
