What about all the aunts, uncles, grannies and mommies who are ready to buy xbox one for little timmy's Christmas present?

To be fair... if the price is bad then MS will have a lot more problems than hardcore gamers not buying the Xbox One because of Used Game DRM lol.

Easier said than done. Also, you want to be proactive, not reactive. Don't give them tacit approval of these policies, as you cannot guarantee they will fail outright.

Again, the idea is to continue the press while widening the net--also helps as its not the same people being saturated with the same message ('spamming' per se. ) keep the hashtags the same so it continues to trend.

I think what he's saying is to be both proactive and reactive.

If Sony releases a console without draconian restrictions and MS does the opposite but the latter's console becomes more popular with consumers then we deserve to be Xboned. Once we have been vocal about what we prefer and have secured alternatives (such as Wii U, PS4), it's time to vote with your wallet if MS presses ahead.

Besides, for MS you'd have to do #XBoxoneUsedGames, #XboxoneNoDRM, #XboxoneNoBigBrother, #XboxoneNoSpyware, #XboxoneOfflinePlay for it to be worth buying, IMO.
Too much work :p

The train is stopping.

We best get to mainstream press. Fast. Start the second wave, release the kraken.
Not stopping, just slowing as per normal. The massive twitter response and views is because of the media coverage, since that's no longer front page news less people are being exposed to it.

This really is like the Adam Orth thing! Just incredible what all of us have been able to do in a few days.

Seriously. It's incredible what the combined power of the people here can achieve. Even if this doesn't turn out as we hope, the message is definitely being received.

As one of the older folks around here, all I can say is that I'm impressed and proud of you guys.

If Sony gives us what we're asking for (whether or not it's due to this campaign) they'll have me as a customer this generation.

It may have already been said, but this would be a great opportunity for Sony to unleash a series of commercials featuring Crash Bandicoot at Microsoft's headquarters, talking all sorts of mad sh*t.

Agreed.

I am not sweating it slowing down. It had to at some point. If we can keep a slow simmer, maybe give the sony guys' accounts a few days of rest and then make one last push in the middle of next week just as a reminder that we're still here and we still know what we want that would be good.

I mean it going totally strong now to E3 would be amazing... but unreasonable. These things have a shelf life so instead of burnout I would say... rest. And we'll kick it up a few notches later.

Though that also depends on media coverage. IF someone huge picks it up later and it starts going really strong again, we will of course nurture that however we can.

There was a suggestion earlier of making themed tweets from the middle of next week or so, per day, up until E3. Thoughts?

Makes sense.

I have to go out and deal with some work shit for a couple hours. When I get back I need to rework the OP because i've hit the character limit. So if you've sent me stuff for it, or if i've missed stuff for it... it will hopefully be updated in a couple hours. And if its still not there PM me as there's so much stuff flying through that Im likely to miss or forget stuff.

Would some kind soul do me a NoDRM Avatar? Anything will do! /completely useless.

After reading the DRM troll Yosp and Shahid took part in earlier, I think that just has to be a good sign. Here's hoping.

Wired:
NYU biz school study: Killing used game market would cause publisher profits to drop by 10%, unless they lower prices http://t.co/T53LipRm9I

http://www.wired.com/gamelife/2013/05/nyu-used-games-study/

Consumers, the study finds, are “forward-looking”: They take the eventual resale value of their games into account when purchasing them.

The study found that if the used game market were to be eliminated and nothing else changed, game publishers’ profits per game would drop by about 10 percent. However, it found that if game publishers were to adjust the prices of new games to optimal levels, they could expect profits per game to rise by about 19 percent.

“We find that the optimal price would be on average about 33% lower than the current price level, if the used game market were eliminated,” said Ishihara in an email. “So roughly speaking, in the US, game prices should go down to about $40.”

“The reduction in price is partly driven by the fact that if the used game market were eliminated, gamers would no longer be able to sell their games and get back some money (so they need to be compensated),” he said.

...

Moreover, the study examines two equally unlikely scenarios: The used game market goes on as is, or it disappears completely. We can assume that neither of those scenarios is what Microsoft is proposing for its new Xbox One game console. Game|Life has suggested in the past that retailers will introduce a system by which they buy back used games, then buy new license codes for these games from manufacturers, a belief echoed by Gamasutra analyst Matt Matthews this week.

“The actual details of the systems are not relevant to me, since the net effect of any new system will be to cut into GameStop’s pre-owned product margin,” Matthews wrote, explaining that the cost of acquiring license fees for each used game it sells could significantly lower the game retailer’s profits.

Which brings us back to the consumer behaviors simulated in Ishihara and Ching’s study. If GameStop begins to pay out lower trade-in rates for games because of the costs associated with buying a new license, consumers would thus derive less value from their game purchases, have less incentive to trade games in and less store credit in their accounts with which to purchase new games.

Well, like I said, do both. Be as vocal as you can (in the right ways) and also vote with your wallet when they are released.

That's potentially thread worthy, as it raises an interesting topic in the case of DRM and potential decreasing profits.
