XBOX ONE Reveal: UI faked from the start. Very choppy, and CBoaT

Sorry to break it to you, but the share button wasn't faked.

Weren't people harping on a few months back about the footage at the PS Meeting being different from the footage posted to Facebook?

In any case, the point still stands; unfinished sofware.

It's different though. CG trailer serves the purpose as an announcement for a game. It has nothing to do with quality or performance of the game.

Yet there's many people who think that GC trailers = the final quality of a game.

So I don't get what you are trying to say.

Microsoft will almost certainly have the most robust console OS for this next generation, that's a given. It's the other two that have far more to prove. It's definitely the area of least concern about Xbox One, put it that way.

On stage presentation on the other hand is representation of the performance of the hardware they're selling. If what shown is not the actually performance then it is false advertisement.

Of course its not different. CGI trailers have been used to fake game-play since it was first possible including MS's presentation and Sony's with things like Deep Down, Killzone 2, tons of MS footage, and I am sure some stuff from Nintento. And those had everything to do with the quality of a game or its supposed performance. It is complete and utter horseshit to allow it. But its allowed and this is just one more stupid thing that got faked.

I was the one that made that thread. It turned out they had two playthroughs on their page. The demo one, and a different one. I mistakenly took the different one as the only upload. They didn't fake it.

y'all should be ashamed

No, there were two links on Facebook. One was a new trailer that people mistook for the Share button footage; the other link was the actual footage from the conference.

No, your comment about the "hate" being balanced.

Without tarring everyone with the same brush, I see a lot of people willingly ignore potential issues with the PS4 when they are raised and many more jumping on the Xbox One funeral party highlighting issues over and over again.

I'm all for debate on the pros and cons of each platform, but certainly at the moment it seems to have swayed too far into the negative. I myself have issues with the Xbox One and how Microsoft have poorly handled the reveal, but I like to think I bring a reasonably balanced view overall.

Yea the same people who failed to notice there were two Killzone videos on the page, one being a trailer, the other 15minutes of recorded game play.

I believe someone made a thread on that, but then it turned out the OP was looking at the wrong video on the Facebook page

This would be like someone running a CGI demo of a first person shooter and saying "look how responsive the controls are" while holding a controller in their hand and miming the playing of the game and then after the conference they show the game slowly responding to the inputs from the controller.

I just feel like we're all better off waiting for E3 rather than hazing it before they really show off everything. That video is pretty icky, however.

I dunno. I'm no fan of MS, but I don't blame them for not having the kinks worked out with 6 months or so until launch. Let's wait and see what it looks like closer to november.

I wouldn't laugh right in the face of those still hopeful that the system will work as shown at launch before it doesn't work like that at launch.

Yep, and Sony didn't try to make it look immediate. There was a slight delay during the demonstration of KZS, which I find refreshingly honest. And no, as you say, it wasn't faked.

Everyone constantly complains about how slow the XBOX UI is.

they spent a bunch of time talking about it on the Bombcast recently.

EVERYONE expects the new one to be super fast and snappy, MS kept talking it up.

But it's okay for Microsoft to pretend at their reveal right?

No but rightly or wrongly, it's expected. When I saw this video over two weeks ago, I certainly wasn't surprised and using the magic of common sense, I was able to deduce that the OS would improve between now and whenever this thing launches.

Yeah, this is fair. Making a big deal about the performance of a faked presentation is deserving of scorn.

This is my only issue with it.

Early OS having performance issues is expected. Demoing something prerecorded? Sure, no worries.

Not mentioning that its a mockup? SHITTY
Touting the performance of said mockup? SHITTY

Both deserving of mocking.

Why is it people always just go, "Well, Sony too!"

This is disappointing, the only 'snappy' piece of their whole reveal and it was faked. There we have the legendary CBoaT coming straight out and telling us to accept an alarmingly television based device AND having another credible rumour saying most of Microsoft's first party games are heavily Kinect integrated AND the DRM is bad and not going anywhere.

I literally was allowing myself to get genuinely excited for E3 because 'it's all about the game'. The problem is starting to seem like, yes, they have games and some will be awesome but the games are merely the smoke in mirrors to keep holding onto the core while focusing on a new demographic, something that has been shockingly obvious for the last three years.

God damnit.

I think the point of that GIF isn't the response time by Kinect, it's the extremely choppy way it handles that action.

Logically speaking having 3 OS and 8gb DDR3 RAM is a total bottle neck in computer hardware. I imagine it will be choppy to an extent not to mention your internet speed will be a factor to how fast stuff loads.

Looks like hot garbage.

Not released though, but kinda weird that they were so far behind on it that they had to fake the whole thing.

of course it runs like 5fps because its not connected to the cloud yet, once it will be hooked to the cloud for infinite power, it will run @ 120fps :)

we'll see how it looks @E3 with live demo

You don't think Sony wants that demographic too?

I said this as it was airing. Anybody that owns a connected box like this knows how long changing channels is.

It was always 100% faked. If MS somehow revolutionized channel changing speed, that would be newsworthy.

On the plus side there is finally a non bashing Youtube video about the Xbox One with more likes that dislikes.

Its slow because they ended up doing waaay more with Live than they initially planned for thanks to facebook, twitter, netflix, hulu, and etc blowing up. The Dash used to be pretty fast back at launch.

Yep. I don't understand why anyone would trust Microsoft and their sales pitch on Kinect, when the original Kinect was gimped compared to the "concept" for Kinect. Milo was a complete fabrication.

I could understand them doing a faked video for the stage presentation, but to not have something running the stage demo in close approximation is when it turns from a question of feasibility of running a demo in a large and loud room to becoming a snake oil salesman.

People shouldn't be surprised about this, they did it for Xbox (Raven Demo), Xbox 360 (Madden among others) & Kinect (Star Wars).

Am I crazy for thinking they will NEVER get the TV part to be super responsive and fast without lag? Aren't you just controlling your cable box with the Xbone? If so, you're limited to how fast your cable box can respond to commands and process signals.

My cable box from Comcast isn't terrible as far as cable boxes go, but it is still pretty slow and there is often a noticeable lag between the push of a button and a response. You cannot instantly switch channels or quickly scroll through the guide.

A Verizon Fios box I've used at someone else's house was WAY worse. Like astonishingly slow. I don't know how a computer connected via HDMI could speed that up.

But the other stuff - the laggy video in the corner, the faked presentation, I don't really care about that. I thought it was pretty clear it was a demonstration of a concept not a real live demo.

Now if they can never come close to what they showed, that will be pretty shitty and they'll get deserved hate for it.

The difference is that Sony never pretended they were doing a live demonstration of the OS. They were just showing some screenshots and video. The only part that showed real time was when the Guerilla guy hit the share button and uploaded the video. And that was legit, so.

The thing is, you don't bring a balanced opinion and it's actually offensive for you to get all self-righteous about it. It's okay to be biased but to go to a mountain top and look down at us plebs is foolish to say the least. You like the Xbone. It's really is okay, we all have our preferences.
