Low yields means higher productions costs per inch of wafer at the fab. Which potentially means they'll be selling the boxes at even higher losses to consumers. And if supply is constricted at launch 3rd parties will lose money on Xbone games.
I don't think Microsoft are in a good position to lose as much money this gen, not with the poor sales of both Windows 8 and PC's in general.
Something tells me we'll see a lot of CG smoke and mirrors.
If things are as bad as some are making it seem though, no amount of money is acceptable by any smart business to associate itself with a seeming sinking ship. For this reason, I doubt a lot of this is as bad as it seems at the moment.
There is also the chance that MS will release a half-assed system and release a "XBox One MKII" in a couple of years time once they conquer the R&D proper.. slimmer, quieter, more productive, (still DRM tho )
I am more interested if we even see live gameplay demo from actual Xbox One.

Also Sony is lunching WORLDWIDE.
So what happened to SenjutsuSage and his overly dramatic claims?
XBone is a damn disaster... so this means no possible WW launch right?

My bet would be that they thought Sony would not go first as Sony could not afford to go first. Somehow Sony is still trying to, but whatever.
Nintendo could recover, theoretically.
With the Wii U? I'm pretty optimistic about most things, but I feel the Wii U is a lost cause in terms of wider publisher/developer support. It'll continue to bob along with first party titles and a smattering of digital titles, but it won't realistically be able to compete with Sony if MS were to ever drop out of the console race.
And if MS were to ever drop out, it would send a pretty clear message that if MS, a company with their seemingly never ending pot of money can't make a success of it, what chance does anyone else have.
Most likely. It'd be better to at least launch in North America this year.XBone is a damn disaster... so this means no possible WW launch right?

I'm at a loss of how they thought that 2013 would not be the time to launch? I'm curious to think how long they thought they could ride the 360 out? Till 2015? That makes no sense.
If that was the case the whole team should be fired. With how fast this generation has been slowing down they had to figure sony would launch in fall 2013. Someone said we don't know shit about this industry but almost all of us could of told them last year Sony would launch in 2013. What they think sony would sit around doing nothing as sales completely tanked this generation.
Ooh man, now you're making me miss Kittonwy.Either masking his/her writing style to avoid blowing cover, or it's Kittonwy.
Thanks Chub. It was getting annoying.Added to OP about crazy's writing style. Maybe people will stop asking now.
Microsoft's in a very tricky situation here. If these rumours are true and they're having major issues, the responsible thing to do would be to delay the damn thing until you sort it out. Rushing the 360 led to the RROD issue and a $1B price-tag, and the end result wasn't a major lead but a dead heat. With all the bad PR they're getting already, I don't think they want to add production delays, downgrading, and (potentially) broken consoles to the mix.

Dude was full of shit. Anyone trying to argue against maths is full of shit.
They have ample time and resources. Doesn't stop them from flushing money down the toilet on trying to enter the consumer electronics industry. Their only success in this industry has been the Xbox 360 and well...I don't think anyone who made it happen is still around at Microsoft.
As Buttocks says, Microsoft has poor leadership. This is not new, they have failed to enter the consumer electronics industry so many times its not funny. They've flushed enough money down the toilet to completely fund a small country.
Why does crazy buttocks on a train type like that?
Yep. They are going to try and hide actual game play as much as they can.

Read between the crack my friend.
its definitely not as bad as a sinking ship.
The Xbone and the PS4 have roughly the same actual silicon budget, yes? So the consoles are likely to have very little in the way of a cost discrepancy, outside of how much each one is willing to subsidize it?
