I just read a comment on Beyond3D with a guy named "Rangers" saying he STILL feels KZ: shadow fall looks like a PS3 game (in a thread stating Naughty Dog and GG are using scheduling techniques for PS4, like they did on PS3) He said, aah, I thought it looked like PS3+ ?...
Are people that fucking blind? This game is looking phenomenal!

Probably just trolling.

I could see why some people would say that because the gameplay itself looked like anything else we have seen this gen (hopefully they show something better at E3), but the graphics? Nope, they looked amazing and even when I saw it on a shitty stream I noticed how much better it looked.

GG always had doubters, yet they always hit a home run on release. KZ2 and 3 looking better than the target render (people said would be impossible to pull of on a ps3). Its just funny how people are that blind to the truth.

You're blind to the truth apparently, KZ2 is very good looking, but no, it's not better looking than the render, or even as good looking.

I don't agree with this but I have in the past described the final result as "admirably close".

Lol. Well, it didnt have the smooth animation. But certain aspects did have a greater level of detail. The fire and textures of the helghast were pretty bad in the target render IMHO.

I hope helghast soldiers behave less like cartoon characters in this game. That's why I never thought playing as the Helghast was viable in this franchise. You'd be surrounded by clowns with funny voices. They don't seem "human", for a a lack of a better word, and what I mean is that it's almost like they're missing higher cognition. :lol I did like Hakha in KZ1, but he was a far cry from the grunts.

Not that the "heroes" are much better, mind... :p

I was blown away by the trailer as were many others but I don't get how anyone can say it looks like a PS3 game or just that it doesn't look good. Every single piece of the game play we saw was fantastic and I'm really looking forward to seeing more of the game.

I kind of know what you mean, besides more polygons and better explosions, the target render looks bland.

^ Exactly. The mouth movements and general animation of the vehicles were very smooth, but most of the texture detail simply wasnt there. The fire moved about like a sprite. Deliberate flaws in the CG to make it "appear" in game, though the facial animation alone wouldnt be possible on PS3. Everything else would have been.

If you look at the part where the troop transporter blows up, or generally the explosions where things break up into tiny pieces, Im sure it could have been in KZ2 and 3 as in engine pre-rended scenes (like COD setpieces) but Im glad GG didnt do that. The KZ series dont need the fakery to keep us coming back for more.

The lighting alone blew me away. Im expecting big things at release, GG says the FXAA anti aliasing was temporary and their working with Sony to create a new form of it. Im sure as impressive as KZ:SF looks now, our jaws are going to hit the floor at release!

I cant wait to see what a future EXO Bi-pedal looks like next gen ! :D

To be honest I concur with the people who think kz was more impressive on ps3 at the time than kz launch on ps4. Infamous is a lot more impressive for me.

The animations in general where the biggest disappointment in KZSF video. Some of them even looked poor by PS3 standards or unfinished as hell, like the soldier walking down the stairs. I really was expecting much better than that from get go, especially considering the animation pedigree in the series. The NPCs were also kinda bleh. The scenery and technical stuff was great. I definitely understand some people being underwhelmed(not enough to call it a PS3 game though), especially compounded with the rudimentary, familiar gameplay showcased. Personally I'm expecting massive improvements all around, otherwise it'll be kinda disappoint to be honest.

With next gen focusing on post-processing effects (occlusion, dynamic world lighting, motion blur) and the new AA that GG is working on, its all going to be smoother at launch.
GG has said they currently have physics running off the CPU.. so Im guessing they'll improve it on the GPU side as the plan is to have all physics rendered by the GPU and sound running of the dedicated sound chip. Currently, both are running on the CPU. The demo they showed was also very unfinished and running on the 2GB PS4 dev kit. I apolygise, I think it was on the 4GB dev kit.
But we havnt seen footage at all with it running on the 8GB dev kit yet.
 
i am with jett. the animations in that demo were ps2 quality.

The thing is, SniperHunter, the animations were bad, but I didnt see post processing at all running yet.
Its like,

Planetside 2 with motion blur / occlusion Off looks bad animation wise.

With it on though, the entire world (vehicles, people) appear smoother in motion.
Im certain animation is lacking the next gen feel as they didnt have the motion blur on yet.
 
post processing was in place. i saw motion blur and dof being used a lot. with more ram they will probably increase the shadow resolution....

Rangers (B3D) is our own specialguy. He's probably the biggest 360 troll out there on B3D.

Rangers is known for his Xbox bias, and Sony antipathy.
 
Rangers (B3D) is our own specialguy. He's probably the biggest 360 troll out there on B3D.

If rumors are to be believed, there are rumors Naughty Dog and GG are working on the PS4 game The Order:1886 together :) .Maybe they'd help out on Shadow Fall too. Lots of First party studios help each other out.

I enjoyed reading troll messages because they helped me change my point of view and I started to watch and think from a different "angle".

Most of the time the result is : yes, you are a troll and you just give nothing to me and my knowledge.

So, now, I skip troll messages with a smile and I enjoy more the interesting posts from people who have something to say.

The graphics were nice, and I hope they stay away from next gen bloom and brown/grey; animations were clearly unfinished and people talking about that video as if it's a clip from a finished game don't get it.

My concern is the gameplay. Looks like a bland shooter to me, and the industry is moving beyond that. We need better gameplay or the game is doomed to mediocrity.

I really hope Killzone will continue to be a "bland" shooter because Killzone is all about an immersive world and awesome action sequence. That is what I want from the next Killzone!

I mean, I recall (from KZ2) the first scene, when the ISA landing to the planet. Just one of the most amazing moment in the gaming !

Give me more of KZ2's SP and less of KZ3's SP, and I'll be happy.

As a SP campaign, I thought KZ2 was a really well crafted game. Very few games have a satisfying conclusion. That is honestly my biggest issue with most games - their endings suck.

Give me a battle as epic as Radec and I'll be happy.

The animations were clearly unfinished, no point bringing up when it's so obvious.

Everything I've read about these types of demos is that they are a hassle and are often thrown together as quickly as possible as they tend to use a small splinter group from the dev team making the game. So no surprise there.
