Don't be so quick to make assumptions. I'm not even a huge fan of the MGS series. I am, however, a supporter of voice actors who is very irritated when iconic VAs are fired without warning, whether their acting is subpar or not. He didn't deserve this bullshit and neither do his fans.
I think it's a reasonable assessment, but he's come to this conclusion for the wrong reason. So I guess he is being unreasonable, I mean if your argument is simply hayter is solid snake; voice acting quality be damned, because I'm used to it and identify him with it.
David Hayter wrote the screenplay for the first X-Men movie. I'll take Sutherland.

Do people really not value Voice Actors that much? I consider voice actors just as vital as real actors in TV/Film.
Although I do admit that it's easier to replace voice actors with people that sound similar. But damn.

I'm sure I'll probably be in the OT, doesn't mean I'll buy the game.
The only way that I will buy this game is if Hayter is in it, and it has to be more than a Cameo. If he is still voicing Solid Snake like some people think and he's actually in a substantial amount of the game then I might buy it. Otherwise I'll just Youtube his part and be done with the Series for good.
The reason I'm dismissing it is because of the way Hayter was treated throughout this whole thing. Not even a phone call to tell him they weren't going to use him. After 15 years, how can they just replacing him without even contacting him.
That's why I will not buy it. Fuck Kojima! There's no way I'm wasting my money supporting his bullshit.

I'd love to see Joey from Friends (or, as true fans of Our Great Master Leader call him, Matt LeBlanc from Episodes) as Raiden.

I was addressing the idea that the best thing to happen to him for 20 years was The Lost Boys, which was false. And he's a good gruff action guy, which should suit the game pretty well. But hey, let's just ride this train of stupid comparisons off the rails!

The quality isn't the question here. You're upset because your preference isn't being represented.

That is going to be interesting. Can his acting redeem Kojima's shitty writing? Stay tuned.
Everyone should at least wait and see what it turns out like instead of immediately deciding mgsv is a no buy and the franchise is dead.
Kojima choosing to never make another Metal Gear game again and working on new ips for the rest of his career would upset a significant number of fans. I guess he's never allowed to stop working on the franchise.
Might also just be a sting because he feels betrayed?

I'm sorry, but when the game is fully revealed at E3 (or wherever) I can't imagine that a lot of fans won't cry foul at these iconic characters suddenly sounding drastically different. Just look at the YouTube comments.
If Kojima quit Metal Gear for good, I guaran-damn-tee you that Konami would fill his shoes with someone else. So I'm not sure what your point is supposed to be.
That's exactly how I see voice actors too. It'd be like if they made a new Iron Man movie without Robert Downey Jr. Nobody would watch it.

I too think YouTube comments are an execellent barometer of sensible and common opinion.
Old Big Boss didn't look look like Snake in Metal Gear 1 and 2. He didn't look and sound like Snake in 4. His clone that actually looked like Big Boss didn't look and sound like Snake in 2. There has to be a point in this timeline where he stops being Naked Snake and starts being Big Boss and that point is now.
