TitanFall (EA/Respawn, PC/XB1/360, Spring 2014, Game Informer Leak, All Info In OP)

This will never be on the PS4 - and I am okay with that. Sounds like another game for the uneducated "I want to shoot everyone in the face" gamer that can barely pay for their apartment. Yet they scrape up the money for Live.

MS will succeed big in America with this... and gaming will continue to spiral into a plethora of generic FPS shooters.
Holy crap, the pure grade AAA butthurt and bitterness in this post, along with all that ignorance. Did you seriously post this

I think it will be Origin exclusive but honestly it all depends on how much control Respawn has of the property outside of consoles. Maybe they can self publish wherever they want on PC? I dunno...

With EA? Not gonna happen I'm afraid. It'll be exclusive to Origin on the PC. At least with that we can avoid any issues with it being only avail for Win 8.

What about those who do want it on PS4? What's their excuse?

Given Sony's first party lineup we already know about I'd say this is pretty much factually impossible.

:) maybe to a select group of people

To others, respawns new game and a new remedy ip is infinitely more exciting than another killzone game and knack

Yep. I'm getting Xbox One for sure now. I'll get PS4 later.

What about those who do want it on PS4? What's their excuse?

According to the leak, they're taking advantage of MS's 'unlimited' dedicated cloud servers which Sony do not provide. Hopefully this means huge battles! Fuck I'm pumped for E3 next week!

knack looks sweet but honestly...everything is more exciting than another killzone game.

titanfall sounds interesting. but it's a concept that can either go to shit..or succeed. and they better pray it develops a community like halo/battlefield/cod

will pick it up for PC

Was there any other news (non-Titan related) uncovered as a result of this leak?

Surely there must be other unannounced stuff considering the issue's month of publication.

I look forward to seeing actual gameplay. Right now all we have is information. If it looks good and plays good then I'm in. Now if it looks like another CoD with mechs I'll be sorely disappointed.

I mentioned this before a ~week ago in some other thread but do you guys think Titanfall can attract the mass dudebro market? It's unfair to call that whole CoD/Madden crowd dudebros but just for the sake of conversation let's call them that.

I'm thinking with the game being more sci-fi and having MECHS(!) I have my doubts this will be the roaring success Respawn and EA are hoping for. Dudebros (18+) don't like unrealistic games with sci-fi weapons and settings. Before you say Halo, I consider that more of a 12-17 age group game than a dudebro game. I've talked to people who only CoD/Battlefield and Madden and I've asked them why don't you don't try X game and it's always that's it's too unrealistic, cartoony, corny, etc.

Halo's sales are dropping, by the way. That's probably franchise fatigue but it also could be just that sci-fi shooters like that are falling out of favor. CoD and Battlefield are the top dogs. I don't think Titanfall is a guaranteed blockbuster franchise. Might just sell a couple million. I hope I'm wrong, I love sci-fi.

Edit- couple million is prob too conservative, change that to 3-4 mil, like a Borderlands type of success, but not the 10, 15 , 20 million CoD and BF sell now.

I don't care fore Killzone, but I'm definitely interested in Knack. I think there is potential there for a action/adventure/puzzle/platform type of play.

Anyway, I'm always up for a new IP. There are too many sequels. We need some new/innovative games.

I think it's really about how visceral and exciting the gameplay is. That's what it was about with COD, and that's what it will be about here.

We know Respawn knows a thing or two about making incredibly exciting FPS gameplay, with a fantastic unlocking/experience system. They basically built the entire concept in a FPS with the first Modern Warfare game.

I'm one of those people that they completely hooked with the first Modern Warfare, and I am expecting to be a blown away by this game next week. I have a lot of faith in these guys, and I think it's worth noting that Microsoft probably wouldn't have signed this game to a deal unless they saw it in action and were very impressed by it.

It's going to be slow burn tbh. Even if it was multiplat just because the premise so far sounds like a possible hard sell. As the whole dude bro thing is any age. Sci Fi will come back into style tho, probably this gen just due to the over saturation of modern shooters

Oh, so as far as hardcore MS fans go MS will "stomp" Sony's E3 lineup. You should have clarified. I thought you were talking about in general where you know, Killzone 2 sold more than twice as many units in 48 hours than Alan Wake did in two weeks.

And I totally get why it's way more exciting to see a new game from the guys who made Call of Duty and uh, Call of Duty versus a new action platformer from the designer and/or producer on games like Sonic 2, the first two Crash games, the first Spyro game, Jak, and Ratchet and Clank. I mean when talking about pedigree what's bigger than CALL OF DUTY right? Such a visual tour de force with unparalleled design. Totally feel what you're saying.

No it isnt.

Unless like MS you pretend that PC gaming doesnt exist.

Ughhhhhh I wish we could kill this argument. We are talking about console exclusives. Stop bringing the PC into it. Was Minecraft a 100% Xbox exclusive? No. But it was a console exclusive and its doing extraordinarily well for MS.

Dayumn.

My entire group of friends will be playing this, no doubt.

I've never been pulled into Planetside 2 because it controls like BF3. Which is to say it controls like garbage.

If they can pull off the wall running, double jumps, and fast pace, AM HYPE.

They are all gaming platforms. Discrediting one of them because people think it is in some weird vacuum does a disservice to the community and the platform itself. I wish we could kill the 'exclusive' claim when it isn't exclusive.

One thing that was a common answer to "so why do you like CoD more than X shooter?" question I've asked dudebros is that it's "controls are smoother", which is 60 fps in their words. Titanfall is gonna be 60 and have that same tight, pixel-precision CoD control so maybe that'll help.

But, isn't that piggybacking on the LIVE infrastructure that PC gamers don't pay?

I am really worried this will be some kind of Windows 8 marketplace BS exclusive...

I don't think you understand.

Dedicated servers are available to rent, they are just computers that host the game.

They can do physics or AI calculations and then transmit them to the clients connected to the game.

Not connected to Xbox Live in anyway, but this is the same thing as the power of the cloud that Microsoft has been talking about.

You can bet it's gonna be exclusive to Windows 8.

No it won't be.

Game isn't even published by Microsoft, even if it was it would be highly doubtful to be exclusive to Win 8 or GFWL.

Lately, Microsoft have been releasing games for Steamworks.

It won't be an easy sell. The fact that it'll be against similar concepts in Destiny (releasing in late 2014, so TitanFall has a head start if it doesn't slip at all) and Planetside will be interesting.

The industry is buying into big, expansive sci-fi shooters being the next big thing but consumers haven't bought into it yet.

I think Borderlands is a good comparison honestly. The concept isn't going to 100% click with the consumer after just a 30 second commercial and the play style switching is going to force a steeper learning curve than what many casual online shooter fans are willing to put up with.

Well its also significantly easier.

They've grown accustomed to the various forms of crutches that COD employs to make everyone seem like they are a good player.

Hahahaha, what "argument"? Stating a game is exclusive to Xbox when it actually isn't? Why would you claim this whenever a large proportion of this forum has gaming PCs? Are you trying to mislead them?

Please provide an actual reason besides the obvious: attempting to redefine what an "exclusive" is to use it for console warrior talking points.

That one guy you know is not representative of everyone who plays shooters.

EA Partners' official policy is they let people choose where to publish on PC.

That said EA's presumably providing the servers for the game on PC, the game will assuredly have DLC, and EA gave seed capital to fund the creation of the entire studio so I would say the odds are a bit lower than the average EA Partners game.
