What the hell? I leave for 15 minutes and you brought the place down already, Bird?

A man, both wise and weathered, stood up in front of you all and said...

The BBQ sauce is ready sir.

if the rumours are true, it basically comes down to 3 options for me. Quit my hobby, go pc only or eat the shit they serve.

I tend towards eating shit.

Honestly at this point... there's three days left. Three days.
It's not worth letting rumors - especially old ones - get you down.

Is the plan for the Gaikai thing to be like.... a Playstation version of Spotify for games? For $100/yr you can stream any content off of the Gaikai system? If so, that price becomes a lot less bad.

A "Spotify for gaming" at $8/Month sounds too cheap: More than likely the added cost of Gaikai above PS Plus would cover the cost of streaming to their partners (which probably want to see money to allow Sony to stream to their services).

I'm intregued what "left to the publishers means". Is it if a publisher wants to use DRM, they have to stick a code in a box, cause our approach is the same as last gen? Or is it that the architecture is built in to the system for ease of access DRM for publishers (a la MS)?

If Thuway is still around, where did the pricing tiers come from? That wasn't in the kotoku piece and the DRM up to pubs?

You gave additional info - be curious if you are recanting that as well?

as for the thoughts of how can you play f2p if behind paywall? Is MS doing that with some of their F2P (rumored) games? It's still feasible. It sucks, but feasible.

Nothing more is coming from me, and this information is old. I'm shutting my mouth and quitting. Besides BBQ Parrot is on the menu, Gopher's favorite. :)

Dude, it's the principle of it as much as anything. We don't pay it on pc. We don't pay it on ps3. We don't pay it on ps vita. We don't pay on Steam. We don't pay it on android devices, nor ios. nor on wii, wiiu, ds, 3ds, etc etc etc.

I don't mind paying extra for things such as ps+ or gakai. But not where it robs us of half the game if we don't pay microsoft and sony extra.

Yep it's principle for me .

Does anyone know what the sound of 2500 jaws hitting the floor at the same time sounds like?

You soon will.

Sorry Gophie. I can't get excited. This crazy ride has emotionally drained me. Someone show me something to restore my faith! Anything hype! Pleaseeee!

love on your sleeve
Probably uploading them to official sony servers or actual streaming like with ustream is paid. You can probably save your videos to usb and edit on pc later or upload directly to youtube.

I can definitely understand the live stream function being behind a paywall. Basic photo and video uploading needs to be free otherwise, don't put a damn button on the controller for it.

That applies to DRM too?

I don't think Sony can stop publishers from online DRM. If EA et al want to make their games require a constant internet connection they can and Sony technically can't stop them.

As long as Sony isn't providing the backbone for it, doesn't support it with their first party lineup, and makes the publishers do it on their own I'm ok with that.

We'll see just how many publishers want to foot the bill for 100% online required single player games that will only reduce their sales potential.

so here's my question.

we've got PS+ tier for 60 a year and then this Gaikai thing for 100 a year.

I think with Gaikai, they will probably allow a pay-per-game system in addition to one that gives you big packs of games with the subscription. It'd be pretty worth it IMO if that was the case. Imagine getting a few dozen PS1/PS2/PSN/PS3 games every month!

thank god i don't work weekends. it should be an easy sleep i hope. but that means sony will be setting up and preparing their speech which means leaks could happen which means shit will happen. lol.

Avatar quote. I hope this has double meaning. Free online and no DRM.

LOL, I actually worked with the guy who played the husband in this commercial so I got a real kick out of this gif.

Good to hear about online, I'm a plus member and will probably continue to be. I just hope everything turns out like Gopher is preaching, I'm thinking it will.

And to think poor Thuway just wanted to get the bad stuff out of the way so we could enjoy the conference megatons. Rapid backfire, lol.

I'm glad now it seems that basic online will stay free.

that's the question, if the box is designed to shut you out or have timers then its fucking worthless. If sony just lets publishers use there own servers for authentication and online passes via the internet (this is the best option) then Sony wins the day.

We as consumers can choose to not support said publishers.

For such a price it should be.

All I want from Sony is $399, free online, no restrictions on used games, no DRM, and a robust and diverse set of exclusives. Do that for me and we have a deal.

----- thuway is stupid and speaks out of ignorance with old information.

Still appreciated man. Most wouldn't go out on the limb with their info without quadruple checking and knowing the official statement is mere hours away. I and I'm sure many others appreciate your willingness to share what you've got to the best of your knowledge, variable though it might be.

Second time this week I go to sleep and dream about The Last Guardian. Last time this sort of thing happened was right before E3 2009. Please be a sign of good things to come.

It was all very strange. The game took place not only in the fortress but in the vastness around it too. Catbird was all flying happily too.
