Microsoft officially pulls DRM from Xbox One, announces new policies

Oh my God this is so amazing. Thank you, I didn't want to miss out on Forza and Sunset Overdrive. So amazing gamers won.

PS4 is still my prime console now, $100 cheaper, more diverse lineup, more powerful, and they were with gamers from the start (on top of being unable to trust MS now), but Microsoft has now earned the right to be in my house again at some point this gen and I can't wait to play the games I would have missed up until that point :D

Awesome. Jumping back in!

This happened because we made noise. Every single one of you that made noise - you won. Everyone that said "be quiet and wait for details" - you were wrong.

Good job to everyone. Videogaming saved for everyone.

I guess we all know who wins Neogaf 2013 Post of the Year now.

Curious to see sales wise how it improves them now. I think its their new coke coke classic moment right there.

Still going with the PS4, but this is amazing news. I'm glad they didn't barrel forward with this any further, pretty obvious it would have been a disaster.

But I kinda think the damage has been done, at least in public perception. They still have an uphill battle. And the PS4 is still $100 cheaper.

If the reason they dropped the Online Passes was because they were counting on the consoles to have those systems in place, yes, I can't imagine they are that happy.

On the other hand, they got other stuff on their sleeves to keep monetizing used games and move them towards becoming services more and more.

We need a list! Fuck them.

Well damn.

Will make a potential decision between the bone and the ps4 that much harder if I get around to buying one in 2015 or so.

Welp there goes family sharing. :(

It sounded so good too.

Yuuuup. It's a pity they couldn't find a compromise to make the irate happy while still allowing some of the more interesting features of their all-digital plan because the complete revocation of the Family Sharing thing they were talking about blows.

Welp. I don't know what to say, really. It's as anti-climatic as it gets.

Hold on, friend! I'd love to share with you some swell news about the Windows 8 Metro UI! Wait, where are you going?
This fucking sucks!

No more sharing
No more installing and not needing the disc
No more instant game switching

Thank a lot internet rage, you suck.

Now I have to choose between buying everything digitally so I don't need disc or I have to buy discs if I want to share games with my family which I'll likely either never get back or I'll get it back with scratches and fingerprints.

Really disappointed right now.

"We're not afraid of Sony."

Uh huh. Sure you weren't.

Still won't buy one Day One, but I'll definitely look into it after a while.

Thanks, Microsoft.

And I agree with the poster who said essentially this: So, those of you who defended the DRM: You're not going to buy it now, right?

I just really don't think Microsoft has this together. Core "values" turned upside down at a whim, a big black featureless box, so-so hardware at a higher price point than the competition, downright goofy PR... it just feels like they aren't actually anywhere near ready to launch a new system.

Glad they saw sense and kudos to them for making the required (but hugely embarrassing) u-turn. Brand has definitely been damaged, but they should be able to bounce back.

Now about that price......
