Is the girl yelling "DAMEEEE!" in the Nintendoland Commercial Sailor Moon?

Nope, the girl in this ad is a lot younger than the Sailor Moon actress.

I really want to see what the advertisements in North America will be like now that Iwata is NoA's CEO. Will they stay crappy or will Nintendo get serious, perhaps get a new firm, and actually try to sell the damn Wii U.

The recent 3DS ads have been pretty good, so who knows.

Oh boy, Pikmin 3 looks beautiful *-*

That first ad is so cute! Shame nowadays we only get dubstep ads here on the west...
(Also I love Mario chase. Silly game, but so fun with the friends. My neighbours probably hate it though. People always get loud... :p)

If they can go from thisto this in a little over 12 months on what is ostensibly a modified Wii engine, imagine what they can do with a ground up game.

I gess you're bound to a happier ending using your inmagination than watching the actual result...

OMG can I please have that Pikman ad here in the US? Anytime I make a level in smash bros. that's the song I pick and I know it word for word.

Pre-ordered Pikmin 3 yesterday after watching the Japanese Nintendo Direct. I mean, look at it, it's gorgeous.

I have to admit though, this is my first Pikmin game, never played the other two.

What I learned today:
1) WiiU has superior Grape shaders.
2) Nintendo is actually trying to sell the WiiU again
3) there will be a whole lot of Peach-related Hentai in the weeks to come, much of it probably involving Luigi.

The Luigi ad is great. I really like the sense of humor around the character of Luigi.
More fun ads and less always smiling families!

I just honestly don't know what you were expecting from a HD Mario title. Photorealistic graphics? The colours pop, and the lightings good.

Color is great indeed. Is not that I want photorealistic graphics on Mario (please don't post that creepy Mario render) but everything looks so unnatural, bland and empty. They only way I have to know Mario & co. are walking on snow is to look at the snowman. Everything looks made of the same non-natural unrecognizable soft material, even the chacters themselves. Even with transparency involved, the new pipes don't look like made of crystal or pastic. They're made of "Mario Transparent Pipe Material". Lightning is good but flat, and doen't even set a versatile tone like Pikmin's. There is a lack of expression in 3D world's look. Mario games had surrealistic landscapes but they were credible and looked made of things you could recognize. 3D land seem like it's made of "videogame materials" that don't exist in the real world and don't convey any real emotion in the way they are displayed. It seem there was no effort in making them appealing because it's just videogame land, so they made it look completely artificial, wich doesn't tell anybody nothing about the world Mario is it. Excecpt that is 3D.

Mario had levels that look just entirely pactical from am art direction perspective, but most of them were extra levels in sunshine or galaxy. but having and entire game that the only thing it can say about itself is that it's a videogame... it's just bland and basic.

Also, if anyone wants to continue this conversation just with me please send me a PM, this thread was clearly not about this and I apologize if anyone didn't like how I took it in this direction.

Of course it looks "unnatural". It's based on a cartoon style, not realism. Nintendo games typically have their own style away from photorealism. Photorealistic graphics are not the only way graphics should be.

Again, I'm not saying it sould look photorealistic. I am saying that the artstyle should be able to say something bouth the world and characters. They are cartoony by nature, but so are Pikmin, Dokey Kong or Wonderful 101 and yet they all are able to communicate with the player or someone waching by looking at them. I am not even asking for graphical detail. I am saying that the only purpose 3D world graphics serve is being a videogame, instead of belonging to Mario's rich and interesting world.

Nonsense. Pikmin isn't cartoony, barring the characters and enemies. The rest is photorealistic. I have never seen a game with a more realistic strawberry or leaf in my life
I dont know sounded like cute or somethin..

Dont Nintendo have some kind of meeting today?

Yeah, it was their annual general meeting. Nothing really happened, just the instatement of people in positions as had been said in the past couple of months

That game has had 18~20 months development and still looks better than Pikmin 3 after nearly 3 years dev on Wii U hardware.

I hate to break it to you, but Wii U hardware and the dev kits weren't finalized 3 years ago. In fact, from all the reports we got, the hardware reached its final form pretty late in development.

Wastes hours checking old Famitsu software data, but that's why we love him.
So for any Japanese gafers, are these the first ads Nintendo has released since when? Late March with Game & Wario?

I'm just going by what Miyamoto said.

Since this one:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D0NNte7C8ac

which advertised Karaoke features back in April, but otherwise...yeah, Game & Wario was the last ad campaign for an actual game.
