STEAM Announcements/Updates 2013 - Summer sale start date? No one knows, don't ask

Was hoping someone here used them at some point. CoH2 is kind of hard to pass up at that price.

Got Xcom from them at release, no problems.
Just read the game description and see if you're able to activate what they're selling. (example, their copies of Guild Wars 2 don't activate for North America)

A lot of Steam-activable games bought outside of Steam will have "Retail" on their name when you activate them. Don't worry, it doesn't mean anything. If the game is listed as not having any additional DRM apart from Steam, then that's it.

If you are in doubt though, I suggest you use "Enhanced Steam". It is an addon for Firefox and Chrome, and will give you a lot of additional information on games, including any DRM a game may have.

Thanks!

Does anyone know about using steam in internet cafes? I would love to play my library in one but I wonder if steam's DRM will freak out at me installing and running games on different computers every day. I know some games have install limits but I can't figure out how to track that.

Usually internet cafes have their own system in place which prohibits the installation of second and third party software.

Oh rock of ages, do not crumble, love is breathing still. Oh lady moon shine down, a little people magic if you will.
Anyone having anything nice to say (or anything at all) about Risen 2?
YES! I've had the privilige of playing like fifteen hours thanks to a very good friend, it's been sitting on the top shelf of my steam wishlist ever since. It's so atmospheric! Such a delightfull game. If you like pirates, this is going to get your blood pumping.
Combat needs some getting used too, but with the right skills is quite fun vs other pirates. Monsters are annoying, but fixed with a patch (wich makes them way to easy :p). But that doesn't matter, since it's an RPG focused on exploration. Glorious exploration.

There are some weird graphical glitches surrounding teleporting bushes, no idea if that's fixed or not, but beside that; the game is frigging beautifull.

Far from perfect, but a real delight if you can look over it's flaws. Wich you will, if you like exploration and pirates.
I know I do.

EDIT: Wait what, it's on sale? I didn't see that. Five bucks is a great price. The website's language is giving me some problems though. :p

I wonder if it'd be possible to install Steam on an external hard drive using your home computer and then be able to use it on an internet cafe machine?

I would like to do just that. I'm concerned that steam will flag me as an account sharer or something.

It's my GOTY 2012.
It looks gorgeous, the open world is huge and beautiful, the story was good enough to keep me interested till the end and the writing was nicely done.
On the other had it had problems with popups (can be fixed through an *.ini entry), the combat could be better and the animations are not on AAAAAA level.
To me it feels more like a 3rd person adventure (with great atmosphere) but I like that. I know USGaf seems to hate the game but if you think it could be for you don't hesitate and try it ;)

Oh god.. The suspense this time is going to kill me. Now to wait every day of July/August until we finally see a STEAM Summer sale. Let the memes roll in.

Judging by the demo, Sniper Ghost Warroir 2 would be at least 10x better without your spotter who holds your hand through the game.

Just to get the ball rolling. I predict 11th July as the sale start date.

I couldn't risk waiting for him. I jumped on it when it went on sale 50% off steam couple of months back. Oddly enough, that sale happened when tony was trying to get keys.

Gabe's money got to them first.

Rhode Island is actually quite jumpy, considering that because they jumped the gun the company is currently out of business.

Crusaders Kings II is heavily discounted $10, so I assume you meant "nothing worth buying that I already have", right? ;)
I got it at amazon for $18 April 9th last year. I hope that $8 was worth the year long wait for you.

Fantastic ports. I've really been enjoying working my way through the first one so far.

Not really THAT fantastic. They kept the Xbox 360 controller button prompts on every screen and in-game as well. If you go to the controls menu it's the keyboard buttons on a 360 controller. Pretty fucking sad actually.

I certainly do enjoy pirates, and that's like the only reason I'm even considering getting the game.

It's my GOTY 2012.
But you guys might have won me over. And I do prefer broken games with wonky things going on made on a lower scale budget over some AAA-perfection and hearing it feels more like a third person adventure game might be exactly what I'm looking for.

Thanks for your impressions.
