I installed CM10.1 on a Nook HD+. How can I get rid of the Apple ripoff application dock COMPLETELY at the bottom and have the app drawer shortcut on the top right corner like before?
The more time I spend with Android, the more I absolutely hate it. The HD+ isn't for me, I personally will NEVER use Android. An OS should not allow that much customization.

Install a custom launcher like nova or apex to get rid of the dock and more the app draw button.

Also, wtf are you on about? You ask how to customise your device while in the same post bitch that android allows TOO MUCH customisation?

This is probably the worst post in the history of GAF.

First of all, you bought a Nook.
Second of all, what the fuck?

I dunno if you can do that with Trebuchet (the CM launcher) but if you can, it should be in the launcher settings. Other launchers like Apex and Nova let you disable the dock in their settings, so try one of those.

There are no options to disable it but the funny thing is CM10 for HP Touchpad doesn't have the dock :) Both are using Trebuchet.
In any case I have given up on trying to remove the dock. Also for anyone using 4.2, the horrendous lock screen widgets can be disabled with the "Lockscreen Policy" app from the play store.

I hope Hangouts gets a feature set update soon. I'd like to be able to receive voice calls on it like I can with it running on my computer. My family and friends in the US should be able to call me without any issue.

I never leave Groove IP running because it lags like hell. It's basically useless.

The amount of UI changes from HP Touchpad CM10 to Nook HD+ CM10.1 are insane. An OS should not have wildly changing UI options from one release to the next. I was just trying to make it look like the Touchpad.

You can sort of pseudo-voice call with Hangouts. If you start up a video call and turn off the video and change the speaker settings to the earpiece then you're all set!
Not that this justifies not having a proper voice call option though, I'd much love for one myself.

I guess I've never had it happen but can you receive a voice call on it? Like if someone calls my mobile number, will my phone ring via Hangouts? Because it happens when I'm on my desktop.

I dream of that day. Just hook up my phone/email/sms/IM/etc to one contact address. Let the app control the intent of the communication. That would be ideal.

I'd love for something like that. It'd make life way easier! Which is also why I doubt it'll happen.

I'd also love for my N4 to come back.

Shouldn't be a problem in the future if/when we go all data for everything.

We all know how data is handled now though so that'll be a while.

Oh, so this is why so many people still buy Apple products.

Go back to iOS then.

The OS UI is completely up to you or the device manufacturer, if you want the bog standard Android OS UI buy a nexus device. That is what they are there for.

You must hate Windows/OSX/Linux.
Linux for anything outside servers is absolute garbage, that's true, and it will never gain mainstream acceptance, and I'm glad for it. Linux means bash (or the shell of your choice) for everything and a web server if you need any sort of GUI, everything else is garbage lol.

Windows and OS X haven't been changing that much in the last 10 years if you ignore the abomination that's W8 that most people hate. And yes, iOS is better than all of them and it's only a matter of time iOS makes it to Macs after getting enough features. Customizable, but you can't fuck it up even if you wanted to. That's good design.

I like my operating systems supported by hardware and software vendors.
Linux will never amount to anything more than a free server OS.

Anyhoo, the Nook HD+ is fine as long as you don't try to change the number of apps on the dock to a lower value, then you have no way to access the app drawer LOL. That's some fine OS design right there. Also reduced the number of home screens to 1 (anything more and you can use the app drawer) and made the lock screen completely uninteractive other than to unlock the device, which is how it should be.

Still much better than the shit B&N put on them. Glad to have bought it for so cheap. If I were willing to spend more money, I would have gotten an iPad anyway.

My partner wants a new phone and wants a phablet. H He likes the Xperia Z ultra but it's not out for ages and the rumoured HTC One Max obviously hasn't been announced yet. The Note 2 is a bit old now but how is the Optimus G pro E985?

Well, between those two you would rather have the Note II.

But it would be a lot better to wait a bit and see what the Xperia Z Ultra and Note 3 bring to the table.

New Nexus 7 rumor?

http://m.androidauthority.com/rumor-new-nexus-7-specs-features-launch-chat-asus-237310/

AE: There has not been confirmed specification as yet, but here is some basics specification , that you can look at:

7 inch LED with 1980*1200 resolution
Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 Quad Core CPU / Snapdragon APQ8064 CPU
2GB of RAM
32GB internal storage
5Mpx rear camera and 1.2Mpx front camera
Android 4.3
4000mAh battery
Wifi a/b/g/n,Bluetooth 4.0 and NFC enabled
LTE / WCDMA / GSM support

This is not confirmed specifications but you can review it

Go nuts...

Read this earlier, sounds about right to me. I know people might be pissed that it is 600 rather than 800 but this thing needs to be as cheap as possible, sounds like they are hitting the sweet spot to me.

$249 is my guess.

I would love for Sony to release a Wi fi version of the Ultra with larger battery for £399, would buy it in an instant for media and browsing use.

I agree (if those rumors/screenshots are real), although I hope Asus/Google doesn't make the same mistake again and goes with the cheapest SSD possible. Read/Write performances on the N7 are terrible.
