GTA V 360: 2 discs, install from Disc 1 play from Disc 2. PS3: 1 disc, 8GB install

I see people are comparing GTA IV and RDR between the two consoles and people don't believe that the PS3 versions of both games are in fact worse than their 360 counterpart. If you have 2 consoles, play it safe, wait for the graphics/performance comparisons.

unfortunately I had to get rid of my 360 so all I have is a PS3, I dont care if the 360 version is better just not RDR type of difference, PS3 RDR was disgusting.

O wow, I can't wait to go out and find the other two characters in the city somewhere.

Amazing.

Has there been any talks about a "next-gen" or PC version?

Rockstar Blurbot said:
The only versions of the game that we have announced are for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation®3 which are set for a September 17th worldwide release. We don’t have anything to share about the possibility of a next-gen or a PC platform release at this time and we are completely focused on delivering the best possible experience for the consoles people have right now.

That is all they have said and that is all they will say till several months after the 360/PS3 version has been on the shelves.

“Will we ever see some GTA V gameplay?”

Yes. Soon (or in September if you don’t want to see it before you play it… it’s up to you) – the first Official Gameplay Video is on its way...

Omg. I.. must.. resist!!

Get everyone to buy it on 360/PS3, then 6 months later suprise announcement and release on PS4/One/PC and everyone goes and buys it again!

Rockstar haven't used pre-rendered cut-scenes for their last few games, I doubt (and hope they don't) start now.

Well that is my explanation for the incredible jump in quality in the last trailer (in cutscenes).
The lighting especially isn't something i expect an open world ps360 game would be able to pull off.

If they didn't hats off.

What about people with 12gb PS3's? that dont want to delete there IGC

Difference there is you can put in any 2.5" 9.5mm laptop HDD. I got a WD Black 750GB for example.

On 360 you are limited to MS HDDs or USB drives. Fine if you only wsnt to play this game and nothing else, or never buy DLC or play demos

You need to calm down a bit dude.

Lecturing other people? No idea about games I have finished?

.....

The grass is the only obvious difference. You feel differently, that's cool. No need to get all wound up about it...

Having bought and played the 360 version AFTER the PS3 version. Everything from shadows, to lighting, and "crispness" was instantly obvious to me. It was a "wow" moment when I played.

I'd NEVER claim it's just grass after playing both...especially on a 46" 1080p screen from about 6' away.

Now I'm trying to decide if I buy GTA V day one, or wait for a PC release. Is there news on that?

I know GI said they're showing it off on PS3 but have any of the trailers shown button prompts yet? Just curious. I know the Red Dead ones were all on 360. Luckily you don't have to worry about doctored videos with R* like you do with Ubi.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
Max Payne 3 had in engine and pre rendered. On PC anyway.

Same on 360/PS3. Majority of the cut scenes were high quality 720p videos, which is why it took 2 discs on the 360.

almost all chapter transition cut-scenes were videos that masked the loads, one of the reasons the game moves so seamlessly from location to location.

8GB install?!?!?!

My hard drive is only 20GB......grrrr

It will be more than 8GB, its referring to the PS3 partial install. PS3 only does a partial install, not a full one like xbox 360. Considering it needs two discs on Xbox 360, Im going to take a guess that with Both discs install it will be close to 16GB in all. 8GB with just the 1 installed.

"This initial install will require an Xbox 360 Hard Drive or an external 16GB USB flash drive with at least 8 GB of free space"

Guess I'll be buying a flash drive or deleting everything on the HDD

This is modern games development, they can profile every single frame of a cutscene to within an inch of it's life, the quality of the cutscene only really has a bearing on what the engine is capable of doing. They are clever enough now they can switch to a higher detail models or textures for certain shots if they really wanted to maintain the overall quality.

8GB is REQUIRED for 360, for the disc 1 install. The second disc you can just pop in the drive and play the game.

Since they're forcing an install here, I'm going to assume the data is going to be 'additional content' as it appears on your 360 HDD (think the 2nd disc from RE6 that had multiple other languages, or the 2nd disc from forza 4 which had more cars and shit but you only had to install it, didn't need it in the tray).

whelp .. more games should've gone with this route, it's a simple yet clever way to avoid disc swapping COUGHSTAROCEANANDMASSEFFECT3COUGH

Meh, I'll pick up the PS3 version on release and then for the PC when it gets cheap, mainly for the mods. Going by past history I expect the PC version to be announced shortly after the New Year for a late Spring release and a next generation version announced in the Summer to come out in the Fall just in time for the holidays in a "GOTY" type package. Plenty of people will double dip for that even if they already bought the current gen version the year before.

I'm sure there will be a lot of improvements on the PS3 side compared to how GTA IV and RDR performed given how many years its been. Probably still won't completely match the XB360 version but it should be closer at this point.

That's not true. Since the Slim, you can buy 3rd party HDDs. I've had 320GB non-MS HDD for about 2 years... works well.

Goodness, I am so ready.

Been playing a lot of Saints Row III and TLAD to pass the time- I love the idea of extremely customizable vehicles. I want to see Midnight Club's customization with the shooting mechanics of Max Payne 3. It shall be glorious!

Also- great news on the one disc to play, one to install on the 360.

Getting the PS3 version regardless of difference. Not just because I don't have a 360 anymore, but because it's my console of choice.

I'm glad I won't have to hear about this stuff when the PS4 is out.

*shakes head* Comments like this really are making gaming news sites simply intolerable as of late.

I just hope GTAOnline is closer to RDR multi than GTAIV multi (free-roam-wise)
