What I do is start downloading the game and leave the PS3 on. I also have my PS3 set to shut off after 3 hrs of inactivity, so it's usually download at 8pm, system shuts itself off 3 hours after downloading the last item. Then my PS3 is set to auto update at around 4-5pm, so it will automatically install my downloaded titles when it wakes up, so everything is done by the time I get off work.

my main problem with psn is that it usually takes at least a full day for me to download any full retail game.

do you get uncapped download speeds as a ps+ subscriber?

Unfortunately not. This is something they need to fix on the PS4, especially with them charging for multiplayer.

Yeah I noticed it wasn't on sale either earlier on today. Possibly a mistake or maybe it's later on in the week?

3 Month trial just expired and thinking about resubbing. Are there any good deals right now or should I wait? I remember hearing about spending x amount of money on PSN and getting credit, or buying a year of ps+ and getting an extra month. Is that still going on?

BB has a year for $40, but you have to sign up for their reward zone (free). Deal ends on the 6th.

Also I noticed at least in my area the best speeds are usually 2am EST to about 9am EST. I just learned that if I got anything over 12 GB just let it auto DL/ install those hours and the next day you will be good to go. I had 30 GB finished and installed doing this before. If you try right after they update and if it is a big game it is just not worth waiting there with speeds at that time and installing.

I've seen it as early as 11am (GMT) before, but it's usually there around 2pm.

Tip - the free games are often listed for free when you manually search for them before they get added to the IGC list.

Morning y'all fellow GAFfers, today is PS Plus Update & Download day, hoping to add all the games on the Web Store soon so I can put them to basket.

I also hope they make a good deal on a Full PS Plus year soon. It's been a while since the last one on the PS Store which I paid 37€.

Ok question, because I see it come up all the time of course. Are anyone else PSN downloads fast like mine? I downloaded like 25 gigs today because of the July update and it only took like maybe 4 hours for all the downloads then an extra little bit for the installs? For the past year or two my downloads have been this fast. I'm on a 1st gen Slim with a wired connection.

Just got to say that this service is incredible. Been a subscriber for over a year now and it's been amazing (and free thanks to the Sony Conference). The amount of FULL retail games I have is nuts... hope it continues like this on PS4.

With the upcoming catalogue of PS4 games, it wont. The only reason why PS+ is so awesome is that we're at the end of the current generation.

My hope is that Sony will continue to offer PS3 games among the PS4 titles in order to bring some value. I don't want to subscribe to PS+ just for playing online...

The fact that Sony has created a version of Drive Club for PS+ shows that they know we expect 'big games' out of PS+. That philosophy has been at the core of the IGC since its inception in 2012. Just look at all the good games we get for the Vita and that's a struggling platform.

The vita ones are sometimes up the night before. Alas not this month.

We're getting DriveClub+ in order for Sony to show that they care about PS+. That's great. But I don't expect we're getting showered with the good games (KZ:SF, Knack, etc.) from the get go. It's just my assumption. It's a business, not a gift shop.

The first months of PS4 they will probably give mostly indie games. I think Tretton said something about Don't Starve on the E3 Conference.

Pretty sure they will. PS+ covers all Sony platforms, there will still be thousands of PS3 users to don't upgrade straight away, and they'll still want value from their subscription.

Hang on, I've just thought, - Is online still going to be free on PS3? I've assumed the paywall is for PS4 only, but I could be wrong.

Who's expecting those games from the get go? Although Knack I can see going to PS+ after 6+ months.

Just look at the Vita to see how awesome PS+ on a young platform can be. In November 2012(9 months after the Vita's release) we had these games: Uncharted: Golden Abyss, Wipeout 2048, Gravity Rush and JSR.

Yeah I missed that one fellow GAFfer. I prefer one Year discount price since my PSN Wallet would be ready, I can always get another 20€ Card but I hope they do another one of those deals again, it would be nice to have some more PS Plus before PS4 arrives.

I have done quite a few tests on this, and it is very much so. Pausing/cancelling downloads while installing is recommended, since the alternative can be an installation that takes hours. Also, at some occassions I have seen installatiosn fail while running downloads in the background. This has never happened while I have let the installer run for itself.

This pretty much. And I have 180gig, with less than 10gig free space left. What the hell do I have on my drive? beats me. They should have an option to delete games folder you haven't played for a year.

EDIT: I grabbed the BF3 PS Plus edition and when it goes to the Basket it tries to charge me, ugh. WHY?

I would love to pick up the Ratchet trilogy for super cheap.

I hope Ratchet: Gladiator comes this week too. Insane how it's being held hostage. NA have had it for ages now.
