I saw Casey Hudson talking in that short little video and I just shook my head, he dares to show his face after what he allowed happen to Mass Effect.

DAMN YOU CASEY HUDSON! You both created and ruined Mass Effect.

Well, I do.

I couldn't hate DA2 with any more of a passion than I do now, but I would love to have another game like Origins. I'm just not sure BioWare really cares enough to bother.

And what's with playable races? Multiplayer only maybe? I could've sworn there was only a human PC again. Are they going to have the same voice actors for all races?

Also, how does horse riding work in a party-based game?

But what about the combat??? Surely that's the most important thing. Who give a f**k about horses?

Supposedly it will have information about combat. Hopefully more than a simple statement about how it's a blend of DA:O and DA2.

Threadshitting: the Thread.

If you're so into the "DA2/FFFXIII/MGS4 sucked" routine that you don't want to play the sequel, I think it's been long enough that you can just go on with your business without crapping up every thread with new news about the sequel you don't want to play.

At this point it's almost like swinging by the comics thread and saying "I hate comics" or the Spanish thread and saying "I don't speak Spanish".

Just accept that the first five pages of the OT of this game will be people referencing Shit Mountain and it'll be easier. The unfortunate side-effect of releasing a serious misstep like DA2 is that a lot of people are going to write off the entire series, and Bioware is very popular target to attack right now.

This is exactly how I feel and also what makes it so painful for me to try to enjoy reading threads in general lately. Let alone comment on them.

Oh and horseback riding, open world and multiple main character races? Yes please. You have my attention BioWare.

The game is coming out in FALL 2014. It's too damn early so i couldn't care less about this game yet. Why even make a cover story this early? WTF GI...

Can't help but feel a strong Witcher influence, game is much more colorful and open world (also horse, like TW3).

I'm 99% sure they're going after Skyrim instead, which had multiple player races, an open world, a variety of colors (though a bit muted), and horses.

I mean, EA's business model revolves around targeting the largest games and trying to take market share.

As someone who played the crap out of DA:O on PC and actually like some of the elements of DA 2, i'm actually pretty excited for this.

Also: EA is usually on their best behavior at the start of every new gen and Bioware's rep is pretty much on the line, so i expect them to go all out with this one. If this turns out to be a stinker it's over for them.

Which is why EA will always be an also-ran in terms of sales. People want the original, not the knock-off.

Hmmm... something tells me it's not going to be the classic Bioware, squad-based, tactical combat that would make me consider this game.

Hey it worked for FIFA and Battlefield!

I feel there's a good and bad way to do this. Basically you need to have enough unique elements that your game is actually quite different (Battlefield) instead of a clone (Medal of Honor), even if it targets the same audience.

So hyped for this after 2 I was afraid I might not get another sequel.

Just one thing. Please give us a controller option for PC!

Wasn't the sky opening with demons coming out the plot of Oblivion? I thought Demons were from the Fade in the DA universe.

Didn't EA/Bioware say part of their inspiration for this game was Skyrim? Could've sworn I recall reading that somewhere.

Yessss!!! :D hyped as fuck for this.

Hoping Kossith (Qunari) are a playable race, but I doubt it given the religious and political differences between them and other states in Thedas.

Footage had me giddy, but was it being played on a 360? Saw the pad but I guess they could use the pad on pc . Then again the console UI was in the bottom right.

You got a point, but the cover art reminded me a bit about The Witcher. You could replace those two humans and replace them with Geralt and it would fit :p

I guess they're looking at stuff that works in other games. I found Skyrim and previous Dragon Age games to be pretty grey/brown, as opposed to The Witcher. The stuff they're showing now looks a lot better.

Wait. It says the game releases also on PS3 and 360. Is this new?

Anyone else kind of feel like developers are going to be spreading themselves too thin with 5/6 different versions of most big games announced for the next 12ish months? I know they need to maximise profits, but it also feels like we're going to have compromised games all over the place.

“I think with Dragon Age, we’re pushing all five platforms as far as we can. Just right to the edge of their breaking point,” the developers said. “There are things we’re seeing in Dragon Age in terms of what you can do as a character, moving around in the environment, and this incredible level of interactivity. We’re working on Frostbite, we’re all sharing technology, and building something really special together.”

I'm looking forward to it. Even if it turns out to be another DA2 I'd still play it. DA2 was fun, even if some aspects of it was unpolished.

The longer development time given to this game I'm sure makes it a much better game than DA2.

Seems more likely that development would be split into PC/next gen and PS360.

But yeah, hearing about current gen was pretty disappointing, though it's understandable that they don't want to miss out on a potentially huge userbase.
