2013 High-Res PC Screenshot Thread of Let the JPEG Die Already

Thanks Midhras (and also One3rd... great CoJ shots btw) :)
Thanks, I've been trying some different perspectives and camera positions and having a free camera with the dev menu really allows this to happen. More games should open this up, or at least provide tools screenshooting and machinima. I can't count how many times I've purchased a game based solely on the screenshots posted on forums like this one or after watching a talented user created machinima. This really should be seen as a marketing tool.

Cool! Are you able to remove the HUD and player body or are these accomplished using the "wall hug" method?

You may want to tag your screenshots Alo81. I have some idea what franchise some of them come from, but have no idea what specific game each one is. It's also one of the thread rules.

Yeah I normally do but I'm just posting dumb - low effort shots showing off weird stuff right now so I didn't give it the proper "labeled and organized" treatment or anything like that. I'll tag the ones from the last page in a bit

So, I have yet to go on with my third-person removal experiment. I've been very busy, but I downloaded this again, and man did I miss it. The setup around the maserati gave me so many nice shots, it was very hard to choose. I thought it was very cinematic.

Edit: Two threads, so two angles, eh? The bullshot one is better though.

This was what the scene. I added the black because I'm using it as a wallpaper :p

And, also, cause this is a panorama. Thats about as tall as the image could possibly be, haha.

Only two screens per post, ZeroShift.

And dammit, I like the look of vanilla Skyrim, but after seeing some of those ENB shots I'm torn again, and almost embarrassed to post these.

Maybe I should try that ENB from above, and just lock the FPS to 30.

They just added character configuration to Chivalry. Looks pretty neat with being able to customize your characters logo and colors...except for all the neon everyone seems to be using. Not sure hot pink was a favorite among the knighting class of the times! These are some shots without that heathen coloring.

[...] why is motion blur not possible with it? Per-object MB would be excellent in skyrim.

Ha ha! I'm nowhere near as knowledgeable about ENB as the guys that regularly haunt enbdev.com. Per object motion blur on Skyrim is a problem though as the game uses different calculations for near and LOD objects, causing massive problems when you move about. I think Boris did leave open the option to look into character only motion blur, but I bet the appeal of merely that couldn't outweigh the problems he'd have to overcome to get it in there.

I've never been a big fan of motion blur myself though, as I've not seen many games that do it right. Could be nice though. I could think of some crazy cool shots possible when you had character motion blur... in combat and action shots and the like.

I don't have any recent stand-out shots for Skyrim, but I feel this post justifies the insertion of two more, both with Real Headache Clouds:

I think Skyrim can look fantastic vanilla, especially when using huge draw distances, uGrids tweaks and downsampling. I mean just look at what Duncan Harris did with it way back in the beginning. I just think the nifty things ENB offers can add to that, even if you're not going for full-on gaudy. Incidentally I have been trying to stick a mite closer to vanilla in my new attempts at getting a config into shape than in my earlier efforts. Why don't you whip up a config that IS almost vanilla, with added imagebased lighting, skylighting, advanced shadows, SSAO, reflections, etc.? I mean even for the memory and stability functions alone the current enbseries are a major thing, I feel.

Like these Misery shots. How is the performance at 5k rez? I had massive performance drop with anything over my native 1080p after applying this mod. Come to think of it I had one of the Complete versions installed before and then installed misery 2.0...maybe I need to do a complete re-install.

Understand. For the record. I didn't point it out to be fussy, but because I was curious what some of the games were. Cheers for updating. =D

Yeah, you should probably do a clean Pripyat install, as the Misery authors explicitly state. You're probably combining a few shaders that dunk the performance now. I only have an EVGA GTX680 (2GB), and it performs admirably, never dipping below 30fps at 5K (anamorphic though! I only have 2160 vertical pixels) and mostly I'm at 40fps.

My main problem running at this resolution is that I can't read anything with respect to item descriptions and dialogues. I REALLY desperately need someone to hand me a convenient font increase modlet, or a magnifying glass. I've tried editing the game's config files, but I'm quite stumped by them.

I use an ENB currently, but purely for the ENBoost speedhack. I have been thinking about doing just what you mentioned, but haven't had the time to start looking into it yet. I'll give it a try tonight or tomorrow.

Can't turn off the hud currently, the first picture in my last post I got lucky with as I managed to die which removed the hud and kill the enemy at the same time which made for a neat looking screen.

Not diggin that Betrayer look. Bit too harsh I think. Looks like all the contrast from Midhras' shots went into that game :p
Heh, I will say Betrayer looks much better in game. I think the screenshots can come off nicely still but in game you get used to how the world is rendered in a way you can't get from a still. The lighting and shadow usage is all very dynamic and actually kind of incredible. Best looking wind yet, feel Crysis 3's wasn't frequent enough.

My NMM told me that I couldn't add more mods to my game, having passed the 11111111th mod barrier. So yeah, I'm using quite a lot of mods. Besides all the textures, clouds, armour and skin mods, the look is mainly derived from the ENB w/ SweetFX build I'm now working on (working title FeverNB, as I started it while incredibly feverish). Without it, my game looks totally rubbish.

Also, I've set myself this goal to try and not lean on a high contrast, overly saturated look. Quite hard, as that stuff has a tendency to creep back in... but I'm trying.

11111111th ? WOW, Can't imagine keeping track of that. I basically gutted my previous installs to start over. Are you going to release your config to the public? It's seriously the best I've ever seen. I like your goal of moving away from high contrast/over-saturation.

11111111 is binary for 255, the maximum 8bit number of mods. Or I should say plugins. I bet with texture mods combined I run well over 300 mods. And if you think my config looks good, I invite you to head on over to the enbdev.com forums, and watch what those pro's are doing in the ENB gallery for Skyrim. Some of that is pure shit, but quite a lot is absolute genius.

I wasn't aiming at a general release (unlike my Fallout 3 config, which I really DO want to release someday), mainly because the plethora of functions makes giving support so incredibly tedious. But when I'm moderately satisfied, I'll probably throw it up and share a link on my Flickr or something. I'm currently working hard on making it look good at all times of day, and possibly in all four score or so weather types. Current enbseries releases allow for a LOT of configurability.

You can get this game for pennies right now

Yup, got mine. What a deal! Had everything but DS3 and Crysis2 but still well worth it...and the money goes to charity.

Arrows can deflect off armor too. It's neat.
Cool. Now I wonder if there is a way to inject color into the game? =)

I'm fairly new to using photo editing tools, and was wondering if it is possible to accentuate specific colors in an image without tinting the rest of the image? Like in the one below, would it be possible to increase the blue in the character without injecting a blue ting in the rest of the image?

Maybe it's just me, but the particles spit up by the tires look so.. out of place.

This shots incredible.

Thanks dude.

I love it when you screen Chivalry. Here ya go:

Its the city where it never rains but its always wet, haha. And yeah, it could be a bit diffused better. In motion it looks excellent though.

Ooops. A new page. More of the no rain wet city:
