I mean, the game release in 75 days. It will probably go "Gold" in 30 days.

There isn't a beta, per se. It's just DiCE fulfilling a preorder gimmick-promise.. When they launch the "Beta" (lol) 3 weeks before release, no feedback you provide is going to alter or affect the retail launch. No design changes will be made to the game. Those discs be stamped, brotha.

At best, you see a day 1 patch for some rock glitch someone found on the single map they let people "beta" (lol) test.

This game has likely been in real closed beta since early summer. That's where the real beta work is taking place. The 1-map, 3 weeks early beta is just a carrot that dice is obligated to give people who preordered, cause EA said so.

I dont' know why it irritates me so much, but playing one map a few weeks early it's not a beta :p. They should just call the preorder bonus "early access" or something

** Post below says Dice says the game is still in alpha. I find that surprising. Regardless, no one enters beta 30 days out.

Below is the full list of specializations that will be available in Battlefield 4. Note that we are still in Alpha stage, so all names, designs, and fine-tuning are subject to change. This will give you an idea about the type and variety of specializations in the game. Some of these are universal, some of them are tied to one of the specific playable soldier types – and most of them are new to Battlefield 4.

Oh I get theres a massive difference, just not sure why you're blaming consoles.

If Arma3 was to come to the ps4 the depth of that game would be gimped to appeal to console players, the same happened with the bf series when you look at the richness of bf2 vs bf3. I'm gonna still enjoy bf4 tho but good thing I'll have Arma as well.

So the chinese just took over the old russian gear or what? The engineer and sniper look just like the russian bf3 classes. And why do recon classes always look so douchey? want to punch them everytime I see them in BF3.

They should also restrict engineer classes to shotguns only, like they used to. fun times lol.

Guess I'll be buying this. Metro is cool and all on rotation, but I can only take so much. Just like CS, Office 24/7 or dust 2. Sigh

won't those new extras make group effects more difficult? explosives gave you extra C4, rockets or mines. If I chose rocket now the C4 guy won't have extra C4s.

i think all those perks listed above will be grouped into 4 slots paths, and in every game you unlock one slot after another. you will unlock the perks of your chosen path, and your squadmate enginer for example will unlock his.

The Chinese Support and Engineer look fucking badass, I like the new Russian Engineer as well.

Do you guys have a preferred class?

I loved to hold an area down with Support in BF3. Something about taking something unwieldy like an M240B, setting up the bipod and just turning it into a laser of death was satisfying as hell.

Same here, support is by far my favourite class. My favourite weapons are the M240B+bipod, PKP Pecheneg+bipod and the L86+grip when I'm attacking. The MG36 is also fun when you're bored because it's actually a shitty weapon that is hard to master and get any kills with.

Looks awesome. Though, all the 3 assault dude look a bit too similar. I would have liked for each faction to be easily identified.

And boo for Armor. That's just going to lead to everyone taking it.

As someone who generally aims center mass... armor will dick me over. Guess I'll have to start aiming higher.

Whats up with all the models with masks? Are they used that heavily in warfare? I'd much rather be able to see player's faces ala BF2. It gives soul to the characters and makes me feel like I'm not shooting a faceless bullet spraying machine.

You shouldn't be punished for aiming where you are supposed to, though. I doubt it will cause too many troubles, especially given the way the specialization system works now, but I'm definitely weary about it.

Chinese engineer and recon look totally sweet.

Russian recon seems to have a big cock.
I seriously need to go to bed. 2 am. Why I am still up looking the cock of a Russian recon?

Americans are again the most boring looking ones.

American support is probably my favorite (amazing because I hate the US support in BF3) but Chinese assault and US recon are pretty cool too.

Still don't like non-gasmask wearing engineers, but at least they aren't quite as dumb-looking as US engineer in BF3.

Well, if you don't like armor, you probably won't be happy. It's the first spec (which means always active) for the "offensive" bro bar. The offensive bro bar is also universal (all classes can use it) but some of the specs in that option are kind of shitty (less fall damage?) so maybe people will choose other options.
 
Tiers I can see, but I'd still like to be able to pick within those tiers what I want... IE; pick a T1, now a T2, etc etc. And then be able to stack like three T1s and no T2s, or some shit like that.

I think this would cause people to all use the same shit by default (like mag in BC2) and I kind of like the idea that they make you choose from a list of pre-sets. usually I'm an advocate of full customization, but here I wonder if this isn't better.

We'll see soon enough I guess.
