Sony: Gamescom to be focused on the PS4's lineup

3 UK retailers have changed their release date for PS4 to 13th December , hoping they are wrong :/
Which ones?

The source of the 13th December rumour the other week was the Toys'r'us UK website, which had that date since day 1 after E3 conference - they wouldn't have known the date back then.

Sony needs to be earlier or at the same time as Xbox in all 13 Xbox launch markets. If they want to focus stock in key markets, focus on those 13 and follow up ASAP everywhere else (but still 2013)

December 13th is very late for the UK. No chance to build up consumer demand or get news reports on sales etc and have people react to it - too close to christmas.

13th December is way too late.

Don't forget that they might need to ship extra stock in. Then we looking at delays over Xmas. So I'm sure Sony wouldn't want that. Mid November would be best for them. If delays, it could just work in favour of Microsoft. UK is Xbox market at the moment. Parents would see new xbox in stock and end up getting that.

Very.co.uk was one of the others , didn't know ToysrUs had the date since E3.

I'd tend to think it means nothing , I doubt ToysrUs or Very sell much gaming stuff at all , would be unusual outlets to be leaking the date.

Parents are not going to be walking into GAME and impulse buying any of the new consoles , there is no way we are going to see these sitting on shelves until after Xmas .

Hitting into things 200mph and nothing happening, that shit needs to stay on last gen.

I haven't seen a racing game in my life that had believable damage. Burnout Paradise was probably the closest in that regard. It's sad really :/

People are saying these games are about racing and not crashing, but when shit inevitably hits the fan, I want to see how bad I messed up!

Based on what was shown at E3, not me.

To be fair, they did have car and barrier deformation in the E3 demo, beyond what you see in a lot of current gen. But it was not mind blowing.

Driveclub is easily going to be the most discussed Gamescom game on gaf. If E3 was a 35% build, what kind of arbitrary percentage are looking at next week?

Doesn't matter. Many armchair analysts will speak if it's a 20-40% jump assume that jump in visuals instead of thinking that it may be better optimized but not necessarily better looking. It already looks fine so I'm not sure why some are so critical when it's doing some cool things.

I dont understand the disappointment that it's not going to be Vita-centric.

There's a bloody new console coming in a few months of course want to see more games for it.

I would agree, and even Burnout Paradise came up short. I played a round of road rage last night and I forgot how unsatisfying it is to smash people into walls from the sides, the vehicles just don't crumple the way they should. I for one would also like to see actual drivers in the Burnout cars too, it's just silly not having them I think. I want to see how far I would be thrown if I hit a barricade at 200 mph, it doesn't have to be super gory or anything.

As always it's very difficult to make everyone happy. If it's focused on Vita it's "OMG PS4 has no games!", if it's focused on PS4 it becomes "Vita is dead, officially confirmed LOL".
They need to create the right balance.

It depends on their ability to make a vertical slice.
Evolution works in way where the whole game comes to life during the final months of development. That approach is not really good to make demos.

Dirt 1-3, GRID,...

there's a rumor floating around this morning in the vita thread that borderlands 2 is coming to vita.

Gearbox said right after launch that they wanted to port it to Vita and were looking for a capable studio. Lots of people went on Twitter to suggest BluePoint games who had already ported MGS HD Collection and PlayStation All-Stars to the Vita, both really good ports.

I don't think we know what they're working on so I wouldn't be surprised if Sony threw some funding around to make it happen since BluePoint also did GoW 1&2 HD and Ico/Shadow of the Colossus HD Collection before their Vita collections, so we know that Sony has a good relationship with them.

Edit: We know they're assisting on Batman Arkham Origins Blackgate by providing the game engine: http://bluepointgames.com/bluepoint-engine-batman-arkham-origins-blackgate/

Don't think that would take their whole team, though...but that's just conjecture.

If the rumor that the e3 build was based on old devkit specs, meaning the e3 demo was pretty old - we could see a pretty big jump. *fingers crossed
