Also, I'm going to be "silently" watching some shows now, like Revolutionary Girl Utena and C³-bu, so don't expect posts on those from me unless something big happens.

Utena is worth making posts over due to the thematic discussion that's usually a result.

Oreimo END FOREVER

I'm more relieved that it's all over than I am angry, though that was still one of the most ridiculously awful things I've seen. I think I might watch one of the shitty imouto shows that aired because of the recent incest popularity since at least those don't take themselves that seriously and are sometimes smut-filled.

Sailor Moon the Animation overview

Well this took a little over a month to do overall, but I did it, I rewatched Sailor Moon in time for the reboot, and to be frank, I was a bit intimidated to do this, but I'm rather glad I did for the most part. Might have a weird opinion on this.

Sailor Moon

Where it began, the search for the Moon Princess, the beginning of Usagi changing from a whiny crybaby.... to a less whiny crybaby with toys given to her. Understandably, I'd probably put her at the bottom of the Inner Senshi list (granted, even with everyone in it, she'd still hit the bottom.) Watching this was basically reminding me of whatever I saw of the dub as a kid, with bits and pieces missing from it (I never saw the Dub ending thankfully). The Sailor V plot line is very underutilized, as the attention shifts more to Sailor Moon and her antics, but I'm leaving that up to filler distorting that reason (or it wasn't).

Tuxedo Mask, who in a way, is rather annoying in how he shows up due to saving Sailor Moon in a pinch, was rather well developed over the course of the season (more than I can say about Cure Muse), and the other later Senshis got their share of development as well. Minako suffered the most though due to showing up towards the last quarter of the show, but still got a bit of development. In a way, this season was pretty vanilla as far as things went, yet despite that, it still manages to stay interesting, while having interesting subtext that would be difficult to find in the genre later on in life (unless it's grimdark), it makes me question that it's a kid show. The ending for the first season was rather spectacular though, probably the second most satisfying ending in the series. Villains also had their share of development, or at least everyone beyond Jadiete. Think what interested me the most was Zoisite and Kunzite, if only because of their gay relationship. Anyway, I left pretty positive with this season, and then it led to...

Sailor Moon R(ough)

And boy, did I pick the right name. The actual R stands for Romance, and there's a shit ton of that in the filler (which was boring) and the real deal (which was mostly boring), and quite frankly..... it was Rough. Roughroughrough. Skipping the filler at least, what bothered me the most was not Chibiusa like some people, but rather Mamoru being a douchebag. I mean he was smug as fuck in the first season, but it was nowhere near as bad as this. Every time Douchebag Mamoru was on screen, it became painful to watch, especially since he was prominent for a good deal of the show. However, post douchebag Mamoru
and converting enemies
, Rough became good again, with Stupid Sexy Chibiusa at the end to boot. Villain wise, I also enjoyed them, another good thing of this arc.
Considering a good chunk was saved, but the higher tier villains got killed due to Wiseman's actions, redeeming themselves except for Esmerelda or whatever
It ended on a better note than what it started out as, but frankly, there was too much bleh surrounding it beforehand that I liked this season the least.

Sailor Moon S(exy/Spinning)

Again, living up to the name (fuck it, all of them did) there was some sexy undertones, on top of a lot of spinning. Microsoft could use Sailor Moon. The villain cast here was quite possibly the peak of Sailor Moon... or rather maybe half of them. Death Busters are invaders from out of the Solar System, and yet the villains are rather down to earth in comparison to the rest, and it was utterly satisfying to see how the villains differentiate from each other. This season also gave us the Outer Senshi Neptune and Uranus (almost typed Uterus), who recieve a healthy amount of development over the course of the show.

I think Sexy/Spinning was actually going pretty well, however, about halfway through, it felt like it started falling apart. Mainly because the Inner Senshi became practically useless, not recieving power ups to keep up with everyone, and eventually lose their way, and it was rather annoying too, considering they're not really limited by being a certain race like in Dragonball Z. This also applies to villains, mainly because ofthe way they rushed the rest of Witches 5 after Mimete. It was like acknowledging that they spent too much time playing with the first three subordinates, and so the rest just got swatted down. This actually bothered me considering I constantly made jabs at it when possible during SuperS. Plenty of subtext for this season, plenty of sexy too, but not enough equal opportunity. Enjoyed the Hotaru/Chibiusa stuff though since it made a difference.

Sailor Moon SuperS(illy)

The so called "Precure" of Sailor Moon, with the delicious undertones still existing here, and primarily Chibiusa focused (considering she's no longer relevant after SuperSilly) with wanting to love an Animal. It was pretty damn creepy, often reminding me of relationships in Yes Precure 5, but worse considering Pegasus was pretty much in animal form almost all of the time. It did however, have some of the more boring episodes in the franchise, but not in a constant streak to keep it down like Rough. The villain cast was... SuperSilly, being a bunch of Circus freaks, and this does actually bring down the tone of scenes that would be more touching somewhere else since it's hard to take it seriously. There was also some rather repetitive enemies considering they actually reused one like.... 3 times. However, it gave some respect to the Inners in the second half of the show, actually powering them up, and 158 was rather spectacular, filled with imagry and a bit of perversion. 159 being a good follow up afterwards.

As stated earlier, Chibiusa got a shit ton of focus, and I think it's mainly to flesh her out before she's written out of the series, which you know is okay, even though she had some character development in Rough, but there's no kids in the future, that's dumb lol. Being that I don't mind Chibiusa, I was okay with this one.

Sailor Moon Sailor(/Lewd) Stars

Well this didn't pull punches. The filler arc set before the real deal was actually better than SuperSilly in its entirety. However, afterwards, it just upped the scale in regards to danger before remaining consistent till the end, where it just ramps up the scale of danger to the point of having a great finale. It treated the Inners rather well, although Outer Senshis didn't get much development (well, Pluto and Sega Saturn. Uranus and Neptune just became even more in lesbians with each other).

Being that Mamoru was written out of the show, we had Saint Seiya be our replacement, along with other Sailor Stars who... can change their gender upon powering up. It spent time developing Usagi's relationship with Seiya, with others kinda having... mood swings every now and again. With our villains, we have our most powerful villain, and her subordinates bringing a flair to the crew, although I will have to say I'm disappointed that Aluminum Siren was a Punch Clock, even though she accomplished finding the real Star Seed to the end of her battles. It was rather ridiculous with in regards to expanding the Sailors beyond Planetary names, but it did give me amusement sometimes. I wasn't too fond of having two gut punches though, but it really was a test of Usagi's idealism simply put. Although.... there were a bunch of weird "cheat on Mamoru vibes" but she remained faithful to the end. Dreams were also made this season.

Don't think I have a Sailor Rankings for the Inners and whatnot. Could be Jupiter > Venus > Mars > Mercury > Moon. Probably. Although I guess my series ranking would be;

Lewd Stars > OG > Sexy/Spinning > SuperSilly > Rough

I guess we still have PGSM and the mango left.

Attack on Titan 19

It's fucking nothing.gif!

The last two episodes remind you all of exactly what is wrong with this show. Last episode we drug out and drug out and drug out a simple plot point to the point that it consumed the vast majority of the episode, everyone asking the same question again and again and again. This episode answer's that question! After half the episode is spent on a flashback and the other half the episode is people running in place on the worst little CG background you ever did see. Like seriously, all that fucking shit about "CAPTAIN LEVI WHAT ARE YOUR ORDERS SIR?" only for it to be . . . nothing.

I mean, the plan itself was fine, but they talked it to death to the point where it didn't matter. StatementRestatement is the method of this show, and they just seriously drag things out for way too long. Maybe if everyone wasn't screaming brutally obvious things again and again and again every fucking episode I'd care more, but I really, really don't.

When does this shit end so that these goddamn miscreants can sit down and think about what they've done with their lives before being paid money to "animate" and "direct" a "show" ever again? Because all of them need to do some fucking soul searching. I don't know if WIT does other shows, but I sure as hell don't care to find out anymore. Not after the travesty that is this show.

Wolf's Rain 1

With the news of Keiko Nobumoto's return to anime scriptwriting, I figured that it was high time to get around to this work of hers. Her writing in this first episode certainly does not disappoint. This is an excellent example of how to introduce a fictional world. There's no forced exposition, no text scroll backstory. Tidbits of info about what's going on, the decaying state of the world, the relationship between humans and wolves, come out naturally in people's conversation, but much is left vague, and justifiably so. What Paradise is and how Kiba intends to find it is unclear, but for that very reason his search is evocative. The art direction and especially Yoko Kanno's mellow soundtrack creates an atmosphere pleasant to soak in and that hopefully the show will maintain for the course of its run.

Kingdom 2 Episode 10
tumblr_mrrcv80JJ61qbxqfpo1_500.png

Honestly fell asleep mid episodes from how boring it was and thus had to rewatch it only to zone out yet again. I wish we wouldnt spend so much time with the faction of the harem and Lu Buwei, its just really dull aspect to the story and feels as if it adds nothing to the major battle that is underway way elsewhere. Worst yet both characters involved are already antagonists sided and of questionable moral character so its just hard to care for them and their story in any meaningful way. Still it did have a bright spot there
or rather sad, when the servant girl was stabbed by the assassins all brutally. Praise her perverance and dilligence in surviving that trial and tribulation.
.

Xin and the other factions is the action we need, meet more and fight hand to hand or something.

Makai Ouji - Devils and Realist 07

Never knew Hamlet was so kinky.

I just realized that is this basically a harem series with all guys since the main protag rather turned a blind eye to any form of romantic demonic agreement with anyone of his potential suitors demons. And it's kinda infuriating.

I don't know that I can bring myself to watch any regular anime right now, because I know none of it will be as fucked up as what I watched last night. It's like when you hear about those people who can't get off to regular sex because of all the crazy porn they've seen.

I'll ease myself into it by hatewatching the most recent episode of Attack on Titan, I guess. Can't wait for 24 solid minutes of people doing nothing at all!

If you want a show that has a protagonist that's really fun to hate, I'd recommend Death Note if you haven't seen it before. It's not as screwed up as School Days, but it is a hell of a lot more enjoyable.

Oreimo S2 - 16 [END]

Man... I don't know what to say. Picking up where I left off on episode 12 and plowing through the rest until I reached the much talked about finale, my heart was racing with so many emotions. Would
Kirino really end up winning, how would Manami deal with the unfolding events, would her reasoning convince the two to stop their forbidden relationship, would they pull the bullshit copout at the last second and claim that Kirino was adopted and not related to Kyosuke at all, etc.
Holy shit was this episode a rollercoaster of fears. I
give them credit for sticking to their guns and having Kirino win, and not doing any adoption twists to try and lessen the blow for people that are against the pairing. Even though they threw in the whole 'we'll only be a couple until graduation' resolution near the end, they made it pretty obvious that the two are still in love with each other which in my book provides a satisfying ending.
I personally had a blast with this series. The majority can hate on it as much as they want,
the best girl won. #smug

Yoko Kanno's work on Wolf's Rain is quite possibly one of my favorite soundtracks of all time and some of those tracks I still listen to on a daily basis even after all these years. It's just excellent stuff all around.

Recap haters be damned. I loved Wolf's Rain.

This was a fun episode. Of course, I didn't need the reminder that my own summer vacation is pretty much over and that my first day of classes is on Tuesday. ;_;

Ending was funny with them all ending up in make-up classes (except Reika, of course) anyway.

One of the greatest shows of the last decade. One of the most beautifully drawn and scored shows as well.

Just skip the 4 recap episodes.

Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust

Haven't watched this in forever but have been wanting to since that thread in the OT a few weeks back. I figure most have watched it but I still feel like I've crawled out of a time capsule and so who knows? Maybe it's a relic nowadays.

Personally, I think it's one of Yoshiaki Kawajiri's (Ninja Scroll, Goku: Midnight Eye, Wicked City, Demon City Shinjuku) more accessible works. So many of his other films fetishize violence and sexuality to the point it seems like it overshadows other aspects of a work. Don't get me a wrong as I'm a big fan of his and I really dig that but I can also recognize when something might be too much for the average viewer. Thankfully, Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust eschews this. That's not to say neither is present but it's very much a film where the striking visuals take center stage.

Examples.
It's in stark contrast to the original Vampire Hunter D in its presentation. The original embraces this horror atmosphere to various degrees of success. It's actually one of my favorites and it helped me get into the hobby back in the day after some midnight showing on TBS (Turner, not Tokyo). I was stunned such a thing existed. The rest is history, as they say. Bloodlust however is far less horror and much more fantasy (with sci-fi elements) adventure given the chase format and the various locales visited that hint at how the world once was.

Story is straightforward enough in that it opens with a young woman being kidnapped by a vampire. D is hired to retrieve her and conflict comes from not only the vampire but a rival crew of bounty hunters after the same goal. Of course it's not as it appears given that
the woman willingly went along with the vampire due to their mutual love and desire to find a place they can coexist peacefully.
.

I think the highlight of the early part of the story is this send up of a Western movie where D comes into town to buy a horse. The female bounty hunter enters the local saloon while armed to get the attention of the local sheriff so she can tip him off to D's presence in the town. The sheriff and his posse make an attempt to run D out of town but the elderly man who sold him the horse intervenes
as he recalls a story of children kidnapped by vampires years ago. D was the one to save the children but was run out of town shortly thereafter. The elderly man was one of the children he saved and saw it as a longstanding debt being repaid to D.
To those uninitiated with D as a character, it's a good glimpse at not only who he is but what he is given the whole dunpeal thing is mostly paid lip service until then.

Never really felt the third act was earned however. The retreating vampire has this nebulous destination in mind throughout and the only hint we're given is him briefly reading a letter in German. Always struck me as this sort of 11th hour final boss nonsense that's unfortunately something of a black mark against the film as a whole. Others might find it more palatable but it's a hangup I've unsuccessfully attempted to get over these many years. I suppose it might work as this test of desire that everyone faces and provide thematic closure to it all but that doesn't mean I have to like it!

I do wish this was available on bluray though as the old DVD I'm watching reeks of lost detail in what was supposed to be a theatrically released film.

The moe-est show of fall 2013 will clearly be Gingitsune.

Give me those furry fuzzies!

This seems like its gonna be a feel good kind of show. I hope so.

There were certain romantic element with Koreneko, yes, but it always felt that it was a background element which was made just to support the main siscon element. In fact, when Kyosuke and Koreneko went out, you could see how Kirino was developing a strong jealousy which strengthen her ''attraction'' towards him. Yes, I agree, the first season was good in a sense there wasn't a strong implication of the incest element, but you gotta admit, there were teases throughout. Butts, thighs, him looking at his sister awkwardly.

and yes, I agree, the second season was bullshit. As a fan of the first season, the second season threw everything out of the window and made it a bad harem anime with a lot situational bullshit. This however, had and underline theme of Kirino getting closer and closer to Kirino amids all those stupid situations.

Yes, I agree with you incest is just creepy, disgusting and wrong. But you were watching a show that had it and it doesn't change the fact that ending was sort spelled out throughout.

0retty much. The ending was extremely obvious. But people stull I think didnt expect it to actually GO THERE.

She's too good for the show.

And her name always reminds me of that Austin Powers movie.

You mean the James Bond movies.

Dog & Scissors 5

Good lord, Masochist editor might as well be named best girl of the season.

She single-handedly managed to convinced me of being the superior girl over the sadist and the yandere in this episode alone.

And that's after the yandere imouto pulled out the chainsaw.

You're starting to convince me. She seems pretty god tier. Or was that dog tier?

Don't mind me. I'm just dropping by to thank you guys for the huge glaring sirens surrounding the ending of Oreimo season 2. I watched the first season and about half of the second and I felt it wasn't going in a good direction. The ending sounds like a disaster.

Oh and as for Monogatari... Ararararagi's mom is the milf to end all milfs, Hanekawa should have kept the black and white style and now Araragi's town is situated in Madagascar. I love watching Monogatari again.

My sister's is on Wednesday (which is really weird).

The first day of classes at my school is actually tomorrow, but I structured my schedule so that my classes run Tuesday-Friday this semester instead of Monday-Thursday, so I can stay home all day on Sunday watching football. I had to miss a few Bucs games last year cause I'd have to go back mid-Sunday and they'd be playing at 4.

Ah I see. Think my last arrangement just had me going to class two days a week (Monday and Wednesday).

Then pretend S2 doesn't exist.

Hell I pretend that the ending of the OVAs doesn't exist.

Don't watch season 2. I certainly wish I hadn't.

That's really looking like the wisest decision.

Perhaps I should give those PSP walkthroughs a try once I'm done.

You're starting to convince me. She seems pretty god tier. Or was that dog tier?

Lower than dirt tier

And she would be absolutely ecstatic over that.

You know, I've said a LOT of bad things about this show over its run, but I'll go on the record that this was NOT a bad episode at all. It had the typical MJP hijinks going on, and character design continues to be predictably bad because Hirai has never once seen an actual nose or something. Anyway, there was a fair amount of foreshadowing of things to come and some doofy bonding over porn. Team Doberman is sent out on a reconnaissance mission and I was legit surprised that
the only person who came back alive was the one who had mentioned planning on getting married.
Honestly, though, I even feel that they managed to make
Randy a likeable character before killing him and Patrick off in a pretty punch-to-the-gut sort of way.
Seeing the commander and her friend admit to one another, not for the first time, that what they are doing in the name of saving the Earth makes them horrible people was a nice step, too. And at this point, I most begrudgingly admit that the action sequences at this point in the series really are quite nice, with
Randy's last stand being a well directed way to go down, I thought.

It helps that Attack on Titan has set the bar so low that I can't really complain about most things in MJP anymore, but I think the show really has earned some of this praise on its own right. I don't embrace the CG future of Mecha, but my opinion of this show has improved no small amount over the past few weeks.

If Oremio had ended with a fairly typical ending, then I wouldn't have batted an eyelid. But now, seeing all the vitriol (and everything in-between), I suddenly feel compelled to at least give it a shot. It's a simple case of morbid curiosity, if nothing else. I understand that in some respects, there is some horrible hypocrisy at play here, but I can't help it!

It's my favourite show, and at one point we had an anime compatibility rating of over 90% on MAL.

I don't think you'll like it at all, not even just the first season.

Watamote - 6

This series is definitely at its best when Tomoko is borderline delusional (if not completely so). On the one hand, I'd like to see her actually achieve some success socially, but on the other, the whole point of this series is watching her fail at it spectacularly.

I would like to see some form of character development, although I'm not really expecting it (I haven't read the manga; should I?).

The ending was kind of heartwarming in its own twisted way. I mean, at least Tomoko enjoyed herself.

Perhaps, but I try to avoid dismissing things outright, especially if I haven't even experienced them. I guess it'd probably be an advantage, knowing all this going in, because of how a lot of the audiences perceptions (at least on GAF) have been greatly colored by what they expected, only to have that undercut by what actually happened.

Well hey, give it a go. No harm in trying. Like many have said, season 1 is really good if you like that kind of comedy. I wish you luck, and keep me in the know. I am genuinely curious what you'll think about it.

This show never had any shame before, but if there were any examples of it it would most definitely be this new ED. It's not even more well-animated than the first ED (or at all) but it's absolutely breathtaking in its lewdity.

i haven't seen it yet but all i heard is praise because this ep was highly anticipated by all those who have read the Ln , glad that it didn't disapoint.

This fucking show. The way Manami was handled was disgusting. Both of them are horrible human beings. That whole scene was just so awful on so many levels. It feels like I'm supposed to be taking the drama seriously but when the scene is so atrocious on an atmosphere and dialog level, all I can do is laugh.

Even as a harem anime, this is kinda shitty. I'll give them points for a somewhat closed ending but they lose all those points back in the rejection scenes. There is no better way I can describe this than a shitty C-rate Toradora.

Those final two scenes are just constant shakinghead.gif.

Oh and fuck Manami. Bitch doesn't do anything the entire series but still expects to win by existing. Friendzone showing it's a real thing.

ibtX7uc0tC0K4c.jpg

Still though, why couldn't Manami be this remotely interesting the rest of the series instead of a sidewalk that everybody steps on and ignores? She actually shows some human emotions at the end.

So from what I'm getting after reading everyone's thoughts on Oriemo's ending is that they
went the brother/sister lovers route
. I've only seen about 4 episodes of this show but is that
really that bad of a thing?
Did people not like the little sister or something, don't like that it's incest, did the main character deserve more, or was it just a stupid ending?

I'm not planning on picking up the show again after me and my friend dropped it a while ago, but I might need some explanation on the backlash for the ending out of curiosity.

Haly

One day I realized that sadness is just another word for not enough coffee.
In lieu of a thoroughly tasteless pun on the word 'eating' I'm going to just go ahead and say that this proves my point...although whatever the hell it is, I guess it may be worth it for shock value?

Pupa is a tale of pure brother-sister love.

Please take note: people don't wear cowboy hats in New York.

So the Precure finally realize that they have the ability to pretty much go wherever the hell they want, in the entire world, and that that's rad as shit and why haven't they been doing that this whole time? So they go lots of places.

I'd probably stay away from the Amazon. It has piranhas and alligators. Not to mention the little tiny parasitic fish that could lodge itself in your dick if you piss in the river. Plus it's really not an ideal place to fight. They lucked out that Candy could make them into mermaids from Akanbe's belly.

You are correct, they went the brother/sister romance route. Honestly I believe people are angry at the ending because of two things 1.) Their choice (waifu) didn't win 2.) The majority hate Kirino because she's a total jerk towards Kyosuke and treats him like dirt most of the time. :lol

You are correct, they went the brother/sister romance route. Honestly I believe people are angry at the ending because of two things 1.) Their choice (waifu) didn't win 2.) The majority hate Kirino because she's a total jerk towards Kyosuke and treats him like dirt most of the time. :lol

More of 2. Also the way it's handled is done in such a shitty and aggravating way that it makes you want to throw your hands up. The rejection scenes are horribly directed and written.

This show really makes me appreciate how well Toradora was done.

Smile Precure 30

So the Precure finally realize that they have the ability to pretty much go wherever the hell they want, in the entire world, and that that's rad as shit and why haven't they been doing that this whole time? So they go lots of places.

I'd probably stay away from the Amazon. It has piranhas and alligators. Not to mention the little tiny parasitic fish that could lodge itself in your dick if you piss in the river. Plus it's really not an ideal place to fight. They lucked out that Candy could make them into mermaids from Akanbe's belly.

You're gonna keep asking that unfortunately, and this is the one tool in the set that stands out the most to Smile Precure watchers.

Also, good thing none of them have dicks or girlcocks.

High School DxD New 7

All I got to say is
Akeno vs Rias
went as I expected. After that episode seemed a blur to me. So much lewd from everybody even Kiba. Episode ended with Vali so I guess he going to be a rival to Issei and probably enroll in the same high school.
