SCEE exec teases "an amazing big title coming to Vita" [Not an indie title]

No handheld Persona 5 please. Rather it be a big screen experience not hampered by storage space, kthx.

New Tales game or Type 0 would be lovely.

I would honestly rather have it on vita for portability but I really think ps3 and vita is a likely scenario.

His smirking on stage after he announced one Indy game after another, like he was King Shit was making me mental.
Huh? If someone is on stage at a big conference, announcing games for the platform they represent, what facial expression and posture do you think is appropriate for them to adopt? Should he be frowning, shrugging and maybe let out a little sigh as he announces each game?

To comfort you, here's a pic of Reggie announcing Super Mario Galaxy 3 for the Wii U:

He is teasing us again :(

A new JRPG huh? Not going to get hyped... not going to get hyped
HYPEHYPEHYPE
That almost sound like a damage control to be honest.

"What you guys are still not satisfy? Well erm we still have unannouced games! Just wait!"

So it was Football Manager? Blah, I would rather play that on my iPad to be honest. The big screen is more confortable for this type of game.

Isn't football manager a port?
According to this summary it shouldn't be it.

Here are three facts for those that haven't been following the thread but are speculating on what it could be

1.) It's a third party game
2.) Not an indie game
3.) Not a port
4.) It's supposed to have a lot of replay value

There seem to be two camps of thought in the Vita camp.

1. Those who recognize that the Vita needs high profile, exclusive games that are system sellers-that are vital and necessary for NEW USERS to BUY the system-and raise the install base and give the system a more visible profile to ensure the systems longevity

2. The "Fuck You, Got Mine" crowd who already own a Vita and insist on only being happy for intermittent Indie game announcements, and couldn't care less if the existing user base grows.

Indie games are not going to move units in a drastic number. Fact of life. I loved Journey too-for the 2 days I played it. It's great that vita is getting a good amount of Indie titles, but they should supplement the main titles that sell the system.

If marketed correctly, I can see Football Manager Classic falling in category 1 quite easily. And if all else fails, handheld Minecraft will shift units.

No, there's a third camp.

3. Those who recognize that the Vita needs high profile, exclusive games that are system sellers-that are vital and necessary for NEW USERS to BUY the system-and raise the install base and give the system a more visible profile to ensure the systems longevity but also realise that ain't going to happen so there's no point in constantly banging on about it.

This camp get a bit fed up of every single game announcement being clouded with 'well that's not a system seller!'.

So essentially the second camp, just worded differently.

No, because apparently the second camp don't care if the userbase grows. They also don't seem to care about the intermittent retail releases on the platform. The third camp differs in these areas.

I was only humouring your pointlessly reductive theory anyway so don't worry about it too much.

I'm just bummed out over the complete waste of potential the system has had. If that lineup is what Shahid was getting so worked up and excited about-to me it's a sign it's pretty much over. To me it's comporable to if Tim Cook can't out in stage smirking and acting arrogant and then unveils a rotary phone.

You're totally short sighted.

ANY game can cause buzz regardless of it's creator's pedigree or financial investment.

And buzz sells systems. Nothing else.

Oh, just read that it's not the handheld version and it will share saves with the desktop version.

Hmm, yeah, I think this could be fairly big.

Been a while since I last played the desktop version of FM (mostly focusing on handheld versions). What's the difference of Classic Mode to the standard?

Believe me I'm with you on the wasted potential. The whole thing has generally been a huge kick in the bollocks.

It's more streamlined. Not a bad thing in this case though. You can autoresolve the games without spectating them, "program" your team with tactics/strategies for predetermined scenarios (ex:"if we're losing by one score at the 75 minutes mark change the tactic to 3-4-3").

Please do not let me serve on a jury. I am actually a crazy person.
So, did someone ask shahid if FM2014 was effectively 'it'?

Wasn't it Minecraft ? Anyway, he did a great job, negativity is in fact overwhelming here sometimes for people who work on those projects. Most big Sony studios are busy on supporting the PS4. The Vita has better chance of selling as a companion to the PS4 and as an indie-on-the-go platform than as a straight up competitor to Nintendo who actually put time and money into creating big original titles for the 3DS.

I'd buy one myself, if it wasn't for 32GB cards that cost 80$. And I'll need to see how well Gaikai works on it.

The only game announced at Gamescon that interested me was Minecraft. I was seriously disappointed otherwise, and 99.9% of indie games do not interest me.

Please tell me the hyped game wasn't already announced.

Personally, if that "amazing big title" is Football Manager then, I am sorry if I sound terribly harsh here, I wouldn't put any stock into anything Mr. Shahid says ever again :\

God damn you're dramatic.
TGS will bring a bunch of cool Japanese games. Hopefully a few 1st party Japanese games as well. I liked the vita games that were shown & the PS4 to Vita remote play way flawless which I doubted it would be so they made a skeptic into a believer. I didn't like Borderlands 1 much but a game like that would be perfect for sleep mode of and on sessions Killzone Mercs beta is great Vita has great games coming and the indy games look superb.

The guy loves his job give him a break. I will say though what disappointed me was certain members here hedging bets on Demon's Souls or Dark Soul's Vita luckily I didn't buy into that.

I think Shahid and co. have done an absolutely fantastic job. We mentioned this in the Vita thread, but for people who don't distinguish fun received from an indie as different to a triple A - mad bastards, I know - then it's only going to get more amazing.

I'm happy to have indie titles I've played before now with me on a portable, and I'm making a concerted effort to purchase present and future indie titles on the Vita because of convenience AND performance. Couldn't be happier.
