IGN - World exclusive hands on with GTA V

Well that certainly was a lot of cockgobbling in there. I can already foresee the avalanche of perfect 10/10 reviews that complete ignore any flaws this game might have.

Why are we okay with only having seen actual gameplay in the last couple months? Why are we okay with today being the first hands-on?

I don't understand why we're putting so much faith into Rockstar, generating so much hype, when we've only been seeing the actual game for a month.

Reads like PR trash cant take this stuff seriously.
The writer is trying way too hard to hype the game.

I feel like GTA 4 had waaaayy less than that.

Other than shooting the pigeons (my least favorite GTA side activity) and a handful of stunt jumps, that's it for collectibles in GTA4 if I remember correctly. The add-ons did add some stuff, like base jumping challenges.

WHy are we okay with it? Because we have no choice and will buy it anyway?

It scares the crap out of me that they ain't mentioning framerates. It makes me think the will have a lot of fps drops.

IGN often does this thing where it's rosé tinted glasses in previews. GTA4 had abysmal performance even on powerful pcs when it came out. I'm worried!! This game is my most anticipated sequel in a long time!

Judging by Rockstar's past (There have been a ton of stories about how they are INCREDIBLY restrictive of their previews- I remember when GTA4 was coming out they were keeping a real tight lid on everything) it wouldn't surprise me if they only let IGN write the hands on with the caveat that they were restricted from discussing performance issues, etc.

Just speculation, but I'm pretty certain that's the deal...

Do they have any smaller pictures? these 600x300 ones are still too big.

Also IGN gona IGN, the usual 'world exclusive' contract for them and a the usual wad of cash (in the form of ad deals for their website):

I can't speak for everyone, but I'm OK with it because this GTA is no different from any other. R* never shows their hand early. The result is a ton of hype and sales. Plus, I've never been let down by a GTA game, why would their very-late-generation-learned-from-our-mistakes GTA game be anything less than stellar.

meh zero fucks given until I see some actual pick up and play gameplay!! fuck screens and fuck "impressions". I want to see footage of someone playing this already, and not some beefed up trailer either. I was hoping IGN would have some gameplay vids but I'm not surprised it's more screenshots. lame

Remember when GTA4 was released? There was no gameplay video at all, and then some leaked on YouTube and was shut down by Rockstar right away. I suspect it'll be the same this time around.

After how they handled the hype leading to GTAIV,I'm never gonna trust IGN ever again.
Or any other site for that matter.

I can't help but think that rockstar is going to sucker punch us. Once we all get it for the current gen systems, they'll announce a next gen version with added stuff. Asking for us to but it all over again.

I've got a lot of faith in Rockstar. It's how their marketing of a game works- and it works well. There's more mystery and wonder to experiencing these games than a lot of other titles that we've seen/read a ton about.

That being said, the amount of video/screenshots they've given us has been more than ample for me. It also feels like way more than usual concerning a GTA title.

Reading the IGN article, it was exactly what I expected. Surprised jizz didn't scroll down my screen like the scene in Spaceballs.

However, the game looks fantastic. Its going to be a long two weeks!

Has Rockstar confirmed whether property is customizable? I want to decorate my safe house.

This preview was okay but lacked substance IMHO.

"- they did fly under a bridge and a "1 out of 50" bridges prompt did appear"

Hell yes.

50 bridges sounds a bit excessive. Perhaps these are aerial stunts akin to those in saints row 2 where any structure you could fly under, or between in a narrow space would count as a stunt.

There's a lot of land in GTA V, and a lot of potential room for bridges. If Liberty City had 14, then I can see how Los Santos and the Blaine County has several times more.

I see they haven't lost their fondness of hyperbole.

I just want to know if the characters and cars feel great (as in, better than what's in IV).

This reads more like an advertisement than a preview. That whole bit at the end that "next gen starts on September 17" and "next gen starts when Rockstar says it does" sounds it was written by a diehard GTA fanboy rather than an objective individual.

Whatever, I'm not getting this game either way. GTAIV had the highest hype levels in the media and ended up being boring as hell. I'll wait for impressions before I dip into this.

Has there been any info on how the shooting feels? If GTA's shooting ever landed on par with other third-person action games, it'd be amazing.
