Several years down the line, when dust has built up in the system is when heating and cooling become an issue. As long as Sony makes it easy to open up the console and clean dust, long-term reliability should not be an issue.
On the other hand, the PS3 is a pain in the ass to open up, so I could be wrong.

The PS4 does look sexy, offcourse still a bit concerned about the heat given its small size and PSU inside that box.
Outside of that as far as design the only thing that I don't like is how the DS4 is constructed, in that picture it appears to have two different shades of black were the to containment pieces meet at the bottom. I know minor gripe but still I dunno in a picture it makes it look a little cheap.

I think that's just normal for Sony standard. Consider they can pack in better CPU and such in an ultra book form factor, PS4 is just a walk in the park for Sony engineer.

tbh when I get my console, it could be like xmas, bits of boxes flying accross the room behind me in sheer excitement, the box will matter for 30min while I collect it at the store, put my seatbelt around it and drive home.

All counts so far say the One is nearly silent. The PS4 probably isn't.

Small countries need less power than the fat PS3.
I wear sennheiser pc360's so a fan noise wont bother me, I still use the phat ps3, its reasonably quiet to me and I would HIGHLY doubt the ps4 is noisier considering it is much more power efficient.

To be fair, it was one guy at IGN that brought that up. And it made no sense for him to even bring it up since Cerny sat right in front of him and explained to him how they were able to make it as small as it is.

They try to avoid it if given a choice. PS3 was weird in that it was the sucessor to the Playstation that they all knew and loved but also huge as fuck. But besides that, bigger gadgets aren't popular over here. It's mostly because of space, my ex's stepfather was the manager of Sony's Audio department and the apartment he could afford on his salary was pitiful compared to what you could buy for the same money anywhere else.
