No save states it seems, I was nearly at the end of the tutorial when breakfast arrived, minimized, came back minutes later and had to restart the whole thing...

ouch, that's a good thing to know! Seems like they still have a little way to go, I hope they will update it in the coming weeks.

Hi guys,

It was a long time ago since I posted anything in here, but If it's alright I'd like give a quick update on our project.

We've been working on Heroki for more then 3 years now. It's a spare time project by 4 guys and we're building Heroki in our own 3D engine so you can imagine the amount of work it has been so far (and stil is).

So far, our work has paid off really well since we can now oficially confirm that SEGA is going to be our publisher for Heroki. :) See: http://blogs.sega.com/2013/09/05/heroki-pax-prime-2013-screens-wallpaper-and-more/

We have polished the visuals a lot (build new shaders, texture polish etc.) and most importantly - we've added lots of new gameplay. Here are some new screenshots of the new build:

Anyone using this SNES emulator? Seems impossible to play platformers be it does not register two button presses at once. Foe example Y + A in Mario for a running jump.

Yep.

I only played some JRPGs with the onscreen controls. Used a wiimote for other games.

I'm pretty late to the party on this one, even though I don't think there is a party. I just recently started playing Order & Chaos Duels. Holy shit is that game addicting. I've never played card games like magic and stuff so it had a bit of a learning curve but once it clicked it became crack. Great graphics and effects too.

Saw this on Toucharcade.

Any Arma impressions yet

I posted a litte bit about this yesterday and I've been playing it more since. The controls are very X-Com and generally work very well (it's tricky to get people inside structures though, but not insurmountable). There is a fairly detailed upgrade mechanic in place that I'm just digging into, you get a good control over what you can upgrade between weapons and skills.

The game itself is baws hard though - so far I've made about 10 runs at the first level, each one ending in death and disaster. Mostly my fault for dumb tactical decisions, and I guess it follows the path set by the ARMA games - it's very unforgiving! And there are no mid-mission saves which is my biggest bugbear (and the reason I've still not finished the damn first level yet), so you have to do a perfect run or do it all again.

Crashes a fair bit on my iPad 2, had three crashes in about 2 hours so far. The game autosaves though, so I never lost progress. Graphics are good, it's generally well presented.

All this said, I am actually enjoying the game and plan to play more. Just be warned it's X-Com Ironman from the start whether you like it or not.

Guys, should I play Plants vs Zombies or just skip to the sequel? Which is better and why?

I have now only one star left and can say PvZ2 is awesome and perfectly playable without purchasing anything (I did as I wanted to give them some money but I rarely use the two plants I bought).

It is an awesome game and I prefer it over the first one. It may not have any exlicit minigames (yet) but there is everything in the gameplay from strategy to action.

Two answer your question, play both.

Finally finished the first proper mission in ARMA, feel like a tactical god. There's a good stealth element to the game, it's good to set up ambushes and backstab suckas.

This or X-Com?
Also, answer my post above please :p

X-Com 100%, it's just a better game. Still ARMA is 1/4 the price and has its own charm. I'm grateful for it since I have an X-Com hole in my life now.

As for the emulators, yes I was jailbroken. No idea about this new app, if I wanted the snes emu back I would just jb again.

At least it seems like a good pinball machine! Apparently Star Wars Pinball (stand alone) was free right now, good shit.

XCOM is really good. I finished it recently, and then fired up a second campaign right away with the Second Wave additions. However, it suffers from major framerate problems on some of the busier levels. I'm playing on an iPad 4, and I had single digit framerate in some fights. That gets really frustrating when panning the camera and selecting units.

Addicted to 868-hack. Feel like this will be a mainstay on my idevices. Such an amazing game. When I first bought it for 6 dollars I was expecting to be disappointed. It lives up to the hype. I need to make an OT or something. Could probably discuss this game a bunch. So many tactics. So much depth.

There needs to be more talk about this game in this thread. It's a crazy turn based rougelike time eater. Buy 868-hack

Any impressions on Ascendancy? It's on sale now, but the UI likes terrible and the sequel is supposed to come to ios this year.

You pretty much nailed it. It is ok, not terrible or anything. But there is no reason to play it over Starbase Orion, especially with a potentially (?) better sequel coming out.

Ok I bought this, finished the tutorial, and I have no idea what the fuck I'm doing. Maybe I should play it when I've had more than 4 hours of sleep.

OP suggestions/impressions of recent titles?

I've been sick so I've been out of it for a few days but I'd like to refresh the OP to account for the first week and a half now of September. :)

I'd say ARMA could go in there, seems a good game from my hours of it. X-Com lite.

Since I know some of you fellow iOS gamzzers are in it via my dev account:

iOS 7 GM seed
Posted: September 10, 2013
Build: 11A465
1.2Gb large

Out for all the various devices that have had the beta. You who are in it will need to update to the GM seed in iTunes (will have to download the build on your own). This will not become available OTA to beta users (beta and public releases use two different OTA paths).

This works without a developer registered device FYI and is the same build that will be released to the public on September 18th, for those who wish to get in on iOS 7 a bit early. :)

I would get it for my phone, but I don't wanna lose the jailbreak. I'll just wait for the potential jailbreak in a few months. And if they can't hack it, I'll stick with iOS 6.
