GTA V has gone gold.

The amount of detail in GTA IV goes unappreciated.

I failed quite a few missions often, and you end up realizing that each mission has multiple variations on the 'car dialogue' (the talking that happens while you drive to your objective), dialogue for failing depending on how you failed etc. I wasn't aware that there was different dialogue depending on the missions you had done previously, and in what order. I'm amazed that there is different failure dialogue for letting a person die, abandoning them or wrecking your car. And this is on a per mission basis.

Amazing stuff. It'll be interesting to see if GTA V does something similar, with the multiple protaganists ("You let Franklin get shot, Trevor" for instance).

I'm sure GTAV will -- RDR did this too. It was a good feature of GTAIV that the reviews gave some credibility too... Luckily too they realized that it was masking a bigger problem, that people were really tired of having to drive to missions over and over again, hearing the same dialog. So, thankfully, they changed how that works.

Also really glad that when you die you keep your weapons. In GTA:SA, I never "died" ... If I died, I'd just reload the save. I find in RDR I am much happier to "die" because it has auto saving and no big penalty for death... like loosing all of your weapons.

I read somewhere on GAF that the embargo is up after the midnight launch. IGN will post their review on Friday though.

Deffo dont want to put a negative spin on it, its impossible tbh, especially with the positivity from everyone inc IGN, their pretty much promoting the game... but dont they generally say if a developer is confident of their game they will release a couple weeks before launch, so the review gets around, thats what they did with The Last of US and that just picked up momentum... They released a week before E3 I think it was, it wasnt out until after.

I would not be surprised that the reviews will probably release on Monday, with IGN being one of the first. I forgot how it all went down with GTA IV.

Just listened to the IGN Australia podcast where the guy talks about his hands-on time with the game. He sounded sincerely impressed, game sounds neat

Not really. Plenty of bigger games that don't need positive reviews to get the word out have late embargo dates. Red Dead was the day before release and that's sitting at a 95 on Metacritic. Skyrim was a day before and that got a 96.

Alienous - Seems to be the one under pressure tonight then.... looking forward too it, hope its a good read :D

Nein, I'm dealing with Grand Theft Auto Online. It would probably be best to separate the crew requests, and deathmatch tournaments from the
"Oh my God, did you see what Michael/Trevor/Franklin done"
that the GTA V OT will eventually consist of.

I'm looking to see what Buckethead is going to cover in his OT, and I'll cover the GTA Online specific stuff going forward. That OT will be up a week before GTA Online's release, so a week after GTA V's release.

I noticed this when playing the vanilla, TLAD and TBOGT all the way through last year. I know people wanted crazy mini games and shit of that nature but the amount of detail that went in to conversations was a huge deal for me. I was immersed in the story and setting moreso than any other game in the past because of it.

I think they just want as little spoiled about the game as possible before release.

Of course on conspiracy central NeoGAF, people will say it's because they're waiting for all the cash drops to be delivered to all the reviewers.

One thing that sticks out for me is how they mentioned the brightness of the game, the graphics, and how it feels so much more brighter than IV, and has that feel summer "hot" feel to it. I do think this has to do with how much time they have spent with the game in polishing it and optimizing the game.

Obviously NYC gritty compared to the sunshine of LA makes sense but I can't wait to see the brightness of the game, and also they mentioned the shadows being very well done.

The detail in GTA IV was insane. I was just playing this last night, and Little Jacob lights a fatty, causing the car to billow out smoke. Then as he gets out, he throws the evidence out the window.

Then at another point, a guy was running from the cops, and ran into someone who was looking in their trunk. Guy with the gun falls over after running into the guy at his car, and the policeman than arrests him. He's on his way to the police car, and someone comes out of nowhere and hits the guy. Person in the car drives off, with the policeman getting in his vehicle and taking off after the car.

Really impressive.

I was wishing that he talked about how the shooting feels. That's my major complaint about GTA games. From stuff that R* has said, and the look of the videos, it seems to be a lot more intuitive. Really hope that's the case

Like bosses!

I like those "Day of release" reviews. Sitting in line, waiting for the game, critically reading every review!

I did this with AC2. I bought it midnight, but I didn't open the shrink wrap until the next morning after reviews. GTAV, though, I'm going in raw.

That's genius! I'm telling ya, GTA IV gets a much MUCH harder time than it deserves.

I'm gonna say it: Niko was my favourite GTA protagonist. There. I feel... lighter.

Whoa, never experienced anything like that before. Most I've had was getting into fist fights with random peds and kiting them near a cop, who will arrest them and drive away.

It's not with the intention of actually giving any credence to the reviews, it's just to read and get more hype while you're waiting there!

No confirmation bias or analysis necessary.

We've been waiting for this game for so many years! I must not watch any free roam video either!

I still remember the first time you are able to free roam in GTA IV. Walking down the stairs, and out into the street. And the world is there, and you don't know what to do.

GTA really is something else.

Luis was the best!

Attitude, wit, badassness... And he had that token GTA "What the hell are all these crazy people doing and why am I helping them" personality down like none other!

#TeamLuis ! He was such a boss- he actually gave a shit about Tony, tried to balance between this old haunts and all the lunacy around him. Updated K109 was so rad! Lagerfeld's musings while Yusuf sending us on amazing missions really cemented my love for it!

Yeah a living breathing world so to speak, watching the cars suspension move as it rolled down a street...great physics

I remember the SA, eating to make the guy fat and going to the gym, have your own house etc....loved those GTA impressions.. Now we have GTA 5 with a ridiculous diversity in NPC characters, each going about their jobs in farms and factories.

Yeah I loved GTAIV vanilla but everytime I load up GTA to kill some time, it's always The Ballad of Gay Tony.

We'll be parachuting off Chilliad so soon!

Yeah, the weaponry, the car delivery, the club management- it felt lighter, and all about the glitz and the glam. Bus STOP!

Whoa! EVER?! I think I like Luis Lopez best- followed by CJ!

Yup. Controversial, I know. He's a, complicated, cool guy (except when it comes to family) with an interesting story and past. I really like VAs delivery, too.

Luis is a total badass and CJ has some cracking dialogue. Both are really fleshed out compared to the others ('cept Niko, of course).

Cannot stand Johnny or Vercetti, though. Tommy made me a bit uncomfortable. Can't even remember why.

Yep, the AI detail was incredible in GTA IV. Just following people around, seeing what happens, etc. There were so many instances of other people interacting, etc.

No other game has come close to that.

To be honest the traffic ign gets and the amount of promoting they have been doing, it sort of makes sense :)

The exclusive previews are just as ridiculous. It makes sense because it's guaranteed IGN will give it a glowing review, yeah. This is all assuming the exclusive review is true anyway, I haven't seen any proof of that.

I finished Gay Tony last week but played the club management for just 10 minutes or so. Seemed like a chore to me, just walking through the club and looking around. Or does it go beyond that at a certain point?

Anyway, a bit late, but preordered the game today!

Other than Luis, I think Niko is probably the best. Had more depth than all the other GTA white boys.

I think my favorite is looking to be Franklin for GTA V. All the people he interacts with are kinda dumb or crazy, like all the other people Luis deals with.

And his trailer is the best. "You Ain't Gotta Like It Cause the Hood Gon' Love It"

"You ain't got no respect!"
"I got respect for reality!"

It's strange- I'm with you on Vercetti. Like, Vice City remains my favorite GTA iteration ever, but I wasn't too keen on the main protagonist. It didn't help that I couldn't dissociate Ray Liotta from the character- that's why I appreciate the fact that they are going with lesser known (but more talented!) voice actors.

Klebitz I dug- felt like such a badass riding in the gang, and representin' for The Lost.

Holy goodness, you're #TeamFranklin too?!

We've got the same spirit ! JAY ROCK ALL DAY, although I swear Ab-Soul is the best lyricist in TDE!
