Japanese Viewers Loved Sony Japan’s PlayStation Press Conference

Sony Computer Entertainment Japan and Asia’s 2013 press conference is history. The PS4′s Japanese release date has been revealed, and we have not one, but two new PlayStation Vita models coming (even if one doesn’t have its own screens and controls), but since a lot of the content was targeting the Japanese viewers, did they like it?

According to Nico Nico’s rating system, hell yes, they did.

After the broadcast a menu was displayed to let the viewers vote their appreciation of the conference, and the results was pretty much a landslide victory for the positive options. Here’s a breakdown:
  • It was very good: 70.6%
  • It was pretty good: 18.1%
  • It was average: 5.1%
  • It wasn’t very good: 2.4%
  • It was bad: 3.8%

Japan is apparently happy if these stats are anything to go by.

Lock and mock if old.

Dynasty Warriors: check
Yakuza: check
Hunting games: check
Idol games: check
Miku: check

Why wouldn't they be satisfied?

Says a lot about Japanese gamers. I hated most of the conference with the exception of Deep Down and PS Vita TV.

Personally, I thought the Vita announcements were lovely.

The PS4's lineup was definitely underwhelming, but Vita / PS3 brought it back up.

And, I thought the PS4 would be launching a lot later than February 22nd. :)

I'm kind of surprised at this.

I thought they'd be more pissed that they have to wait till next year for PS4.

Probably for the best since it will launch with more Japanese games. It would be worse to launch early with essentially nothing but western titles.

Do they have real time data? Cause when a press conference ends on a great note I usually coming away pretty positive even if a lot of it was actually shit.

The new vita looks slick and that PS Vita TV also seems like a best idea.

They also hit a lot of the games that are popular in Japan.

I wonder if fans in Japan even expected PS4 in 2013.

Would be kind of sad if they weren't impressed, since it was very japan focused and possibly more games were announced than any other conference this year.

the Neogaf business professionals thought that the February release of the PS4 would kill Sony in Japan... some of you guys make Pachter look like Nostradamus

They got Dream Club too. Only need Love Plus and Oreimo to complete the collection.
I thought there was a Vita OreImo since it appeared for a half of one episode but I guess they were just showing their will to support it in the future.

Any reason why the Vita/PS4 *won't* dominate Japan?

Please dont answer seriously
Relentless February heat waves.

Edit: dammit, beaten. :(

Sony just shot themselves in the foot.

What this means is the japanese public, after hearing about this, is not going to want to purchase the PS4, nor will they purchase any of sony's products. This is HUGE. You can laugh all you want, but Sony has alienated an entire market with this move.

Sony, publicly apologize and cancel the february date or you can kiss your business goodbye.

plenty of other responses like that in the PS4 japanese launch thread

I liked it as well.
I'm waiting for the generation's glorious return of an abundance of Japanese games! (those PS2 days!)
