My guess is, the vehicles travel alot faster than they did in the older games. One way to be sure about "Size comparisons" would be to time how long it takes to walk or run across these spaces (in SA and GTAV).

We can't. Look at the airport in the bottom left. Look at the size of an entire city from the inset previous game. Compare the two.

So I guess there will also be a GTA Online OT when it's released? I will get the game on PS3 despite an empty friendlist on PSN (haven't paid for XBL in a while and I'm not planning on getting Gold just to play GTAO) so I'll need a couple of folks to play with when the time comes.

I'm pretty glad the map leaked, my hype just increased from 11 to 111, super happy with how the world seems layed out.
When including the underwater environment, it is bigger than those, plus RDR combined according to Rockstar. The map comparisons are pretty much lending credence to that claim with the landmass alone.

I wouldn't invest any stock in the severs being functional during launch day. Better to be safe than sorry and go with the disc IMO.

Chiliad wasn't that big compared to modern games. You could cycle to the top fairly quickly. The scale of V's landscape seems much more vast.
SA was only a little bit bigger than GTA4, not 3-4 times bigger, as that picture implies.
