Close to 3/4ths of the way there with 20 days to go? Unless this thing drops off the face of the planet it should at least make the intial goal.

Or you can use actual math and see it's at just shy of 68%, or 2/3rds. ;)

Hi-res sprites, mmmm. OP could make some nice new images (or someone can for them - I "made" these).

Ah, it's a shame this probably won't hit many of its stretch goals.

Going by the silhouettes, I was guessing that the "old school" TV would be for a pixel art version of the game.

And then I got sad knowing it wouldn't come true.

I was thinking animated cutscenes. The TV would be supposed to make you think of cartoons. I doubt it's a sprite version. That would be almost like making a whole new game.

I'm a backer and neither the Kickstarter nor email update links seem to work.

Edit: had to copy and paste the link in the kickstarter. The email one said it had been downloaded too many times.

Oh man, we'll be ready for the OT a whole year in advance! ;P

Also, WF Facebook page linked to a pretty decent interview Matt Bozon did with Nintendo Life
NL: Does your experience to date with the Wii U help with that version, and can you tell us if it’ll have any unique features to utilise the GamePad?

MB:
Yes, it’s good to have a couple of Wii U titles under us. Our plan currently is to have inventory on the touch screen, with the option for players to use off-TV play.
Nice. I wonder if they would bother doing the same for PS4/Vita.

Gives all the fucks
I now want to see a Shantae outfit for Patricia in the Wii U/HD version of Mighty Switch Force 2.

Edit: Wouldn't happen, but how neat would it be if they made the outfits cross-unlockables for having save files from both MSF2 and Shantae on Wii U?

The link that was provided in the e-mail went down w/in like 2 minutes, but they replaced the link on the backer-only update on the website.
Just make sure you copy the link in the backer update and add www in the URL otherwise it won't work.

No one posted the last update?

And in new…news…we have another local event for everyone in Southern California!

"The WayForward team has teamed up with Giant Robot to have a super awesome Shantae party (and Patty Wagon will be there too)! Virt will be making all your favorite funny noises and anyone who attends will be able to play Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse and Mighty Switch Force! 2. The Shantae: Half-Genie Hero trailer will be playing all night and who knows what else we can pull out of our pirate hats ;) It's a week from today (Saturday, Sept. 21) so if you’re local, come on over! If you aren’t, come over anyways!"

Since the Ace Attorney's 5 digital release doesn't seem to be this month I decided to use my credit on WayForward games.

Was able to Grab Shantae GBC, Shantae RR, and Mighty Switchforce 1 & 2.

It's now 7,253 backers @ $288,772 with 18 days to go. The funding has slowed down quite a lot. I was hoping that we'll be able to at least achieve that $700K stretch goal, but at this rate, it might not be possible. :(

Sadly. It will be difficult reaching the stretch goals unless Wayforward gets some big support/promotion or something.

I wonder if they should have waited until sometime after the 3DS Shantae's release to do this Kickstarter. Then we would have three Shantae games on the 3DS, the series would be fresh in everyone's minds, there wouldn't be the confusion I've seen about "is this replacing the 3DS game?". As a bonus, then they wouldn't be competing with Mighty No. 9, not that there was any way for them to know about that.

I think what screwed WayForward up is that they were teasing a bit beforehand, then had a countdown for it. Right around the start of their countdown they got blindsighted by Inafune.

If Inafune announced Mighty No. 9 before they started their countdown they probably could've just delayed it a month.

I'm just really hoping it hits the target goal so we actually get this game.

All the stretch goals sound like they have a lot of ideas on how to expand on this, it's unfortunate that they don't look like they will be met. Still though, I'd hate to see those ideas go to waste so I hope it will become DLC and would happily buy it all.

When I saw the announcement for Mighty No. 9, at first glance I thought the Wayforward kickstarter started early and it was a follow-up to their other "Mighty" games.

Then I saw it was a Mega Man game from Comcept and I was like "this is awesome, but poor Wayforward."

I don't plan on playing this game, it's not my cup of tea, but I thought I'd share something.

I hate this thread.

Every time I see the front page of Neogaf, and the word "Half" I flip out.

That is all, Continue.

Yeah. They are really unlucky with the timing of their kickstarter.
It should of made 400.000 already.

Sounds like you have some issues. Edit: Just saw the post under mine. I know that feeling bro!

On the thread. I'm glad they are going to make the goal unless something goes wrong.
But sad that the stretch goals all seem pretty far away

Stared at this post for a minute or two before I finally understood.
Nobody wants to make Half-Life 3. I'm sorry. Maybe next next-gen?

I think there are several reasons why the Kickstarter might be going really slow:

- Shantae is not a big popular series, there simply aren't that many fans.

- The Shantae games have been fragmented over a bunch of platforms and the release timing is always horrible. They released the original on GBC in 2002, they released the sequel on DSiWare (lol), and the 3DS eShop entry still isn't out. This makes it hard to really form an attachment to the series.

- Maybe the Shantae games just aren't that great and not everyone who played them are really interested in kickstarting another entry? I dunno, I just finished the first one the other day and the design is kinda crummy.

- The majority of casual action platformer fans looking for something classic to latch on to have Mighty No. 9 to keep them busy right now.

I'll admit that I really don't care for the first game - but I get the impression that I would have loved it if I had played it when it was first released. (Or ideally, a few years prior to that...)

I think the initial funding goal is a bit high and that it launched too close to Mighty No. 9. (Especially since it was afterward.)

Getting a strong initial surge is really important for Kickstarters that are based on existing IPs. Lots of people will not donate if it doesn't look like it will meet funding right away, even if it's something they wouldn't think twice about had it already met it's goal. (Or was at least really close.)

I still think it will make it, but it's in a pretty perilous position right now.

Usually the last week doubles the first three on successful projects, so I'm not too worried. I think it ends up at around 600-700k.

Also, I'm not sure the Skullgirls folks have been prodded yet- though many are probably broke due to all the funding they've done in the past year.

Unsure how much it would cost, but a port of Risky's revenge to PC might do some good also.

the first one is okay, but risky's revenge is a masterpiece! imho
First one makes a lot of mistakes and feels a bit amateurish in terms of design. It's still an impressive little game.

Risky's Revenge is excellent and fixes every problem the original had.

I'm not worried about the game getting funded, just about the stretch goals.

I think I've said this a million times already, but they need to reveal and detail the fucking goals. Project Phoenix for example made it to a million just by dangling "World Map" in front of backers, just like Mighty no 9 will most likely reach the PS4 goal. No one cares about ??? and sillhouettes.

I haven't really been following this thread because I can't donate until the Paypal option is available. I'm pretty confident this will make it, but I have to say that seeing all those nice looking stretch goals pains me. I was hoping it was doing better than this. :[

But yes, Risky's Revenge is really great. You should give it a try duckroll.

The first one's nice enough when it comes to GBC platformers, but I've never been fond of those so that's not saying much. It definitely is a flawed game but it has some neat ideas, I'll give them that.
