I love the Sony translators so much

Vita TV seems to be a solution to my conundrum of choosing to put my ps4 either in my room or the living room. Very nice solution.

Somebody stole Yoshida's comfy chair and he has to stand :(

Remote play is awesome, I'd buy PS4 for this feature alone.

PS4 link app has 'remote play' and 'second screen' options - wonder what they'll use that for?

When connected to vita TV, will it be encoding to 720p (which might stress the remote play more) or will it be vita native res upscaled to 720p by the vita TV?

There's definitely a visual hit when you're using the PS Vita TV to play PS4 games. We played Knack, one of the console's flagship launch titles, and though it looked good, there was definitely something a bit off. In a way, it almost looked like we were watching a YouTube video running at 1080p--it was serviceable, and looked good, but had minor tinges of compression.

That's the (relatively minor) bad news. The good news is that it played flawlessly. During our 10-minute demo we experienced no lag whatsoever. It felt as though we were playing a game running on the hardware, not a game being streamed wirelessly to it. So while you're not getting the full-fledged next-gen experience (especially if you're playing using a PS3 controller, as we were), you're definitely getting an extremely solid experience.

That's pretty cool they got hands on. I can live with the compression artifacts.

What they'll use second screen for? Same as the Wii U controller really and it's something Sony's already done in a few PS3 games (like LBP2 and Sly: Thieves in Time).

The Engadget hands-on with the new vita also says that remote play has no lag:

Remote Play functionality was similarly impressive. There was zero perceptible lag between PlayStation 4 on-screen action and what we were inputting on the Vita.
The same sentiment applies to input directly on the Vita for the PS4 game we were playing: no lag, as if Knack were a game being played locally on the Vita.
They went as far as saying that it is better than the Nvidia shield for streaming games. This isn't Vita TV per se though.

So my brother lives in another country. If I buy him a vita tv, pair it to my ps4, send it to him with a ds4, he'd be able to play my ps4 when I'm not using it? Cos I'd totally do that if that's possible.

Slowly maybe, but yes. You'd need good upload speed.

Yes. All dependant on the connection between you.

Can do the same now with PS3 and PSP/Vita. It's just shit at the moment.

Maybe OP could put those Engadget and Gamesradar comments about the lag in the OP?

Ah so they even played it with the Vita instead of the Vita TV. This is fantastic news. :D

as impressive as it is that there is no perceptive lag, im pretty sure they would have played literally less than a metre from the ps4, i'd be worried if there was any lag that close.

Im sure the further you are and what type of connection it is, the lag might be noticeable.
Wont bother me, as I mainly game at home from about 3 metres from my consoles :)

Is that a white light on it?

It would be great if that LED changes colours for different operations i.e. like VITA remote play and indicates it on the PS4.

And lol @ translators voice. I was thinking that he was doing that to match the Japanese people's accent of speaking English.
