SCEE exec teases "an amazing big title coming to Vita" [Not an indie title]

I think Shahid and co. have done an absolutely fantastic job. We mentioned this in the Vita thread, but for people who don't distinguish fun received from an indie as different to a triple A - mad bastards, I know - then it's only going to get more amazing.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but there are also people who DO enjoy indie games and retail games. I don't feel it's right to only play indie games on the vita though. Once in a while, I just feel like playing pretty games that last a long time and have a more meaty gameplay in them with tons of options. I'm happy we're getting a lot of indie games, but retail games shouldn't be ignored or only release a very small amount of selection every year.

People who like indie games are doing the same thing the other camp is doing, dismissing an entire variety of games and people's concerns because you're only after your needs.

I never said a bad word about indie games in the past, and I don't have reason to. But if we're going to get fewer and fewer retail games every year, then people have the right to complain about the lack of those games.

Right now there's little to be worried about, we're going to get a good amount of retail games between this year and early next year. But I'm starting to get worried what's going to happen after that.

Why do people act like there are no big retail games coming on Vita at all? Go play KZ M beta and wait for Tearaway and Batman.

2 games for the west in 2013. Thats nice but where are the others?

Japan vita is doing ok but everywhere else its a flop. Batman is not a system seller.

They shouldve paid money to ubi and activision to make yearly AC and COD games/bundles along with the console versions. Seeing as how those are the best selling games on the system and are system sellers

Please tell me do you prefer an unknown quality game or a crappy CoD game.

They have a home console launch to handle this year so I think focus would be on that. They did announce BL2 and that other game Murasaki Baby. Maybe we will get a couple during TGS as well.

I understand this is nothing compared to what 3DS is offering but selling a 40 dollar handheld game without Mario written over it in the west is difficult (not impossible) even for Nintendo.

I feel Sony is trying to get a general feel good factor among the indie community so they can snag some cheap exclusives like they are doing for PS4. They must be betting on Remote play to move some hardware in the upcoming 6 months.

It fits most of the clues (though not all - "more than one game"; "a publisher, not a title"), but I don't think Shahid has said anything to confirm it outright.

He have better not confirm it if it is true, because its going to get ugly everything. Best let everyone continue to fantasize that the vita has an unannounced amazing big title.

Which is all the more why Sony should have used everything they have got to push the Vita last year at E3, but everyone went "well its just vita's first year" and then point to 3DS' launch period in defense for the Vita and acting its like not a big deal, and how 2013 will be when the vita shines.

They were too short sighted to see the upcoming release and announcement of the PS4 at that moment of time. The Vita has a larger room for revival back then. The room gets smaller each time an event passes.

Fantasize? I can bet with you that the Vita will have an unannounced amazing big title in its future. And no, I don't have any insider info on that one.

At one point the PSP was gonna get an Elder Scroll spin off game; that was eventually cancelled. An "Elder Scroll Travelers: Skyrim" would be beyond amazing on PSV.

Yeah, a dungeon crawler ES game could be amazing on the Vita. Something along the lines of the Ultima Underworld games.
It could probably be great looking too as dark dungeons and caves don't need draw distance that goes to the horizon. It could even have average looking models and surroundings as long as a bit more work was put on the lighting, animations and textures.

So... Phantasy Star Nova pretty much fits all the hints:

-Its a 3rd party title
-Its not a port
-Its not an indie
-Something you can play for hours at a time
-Between this and Football Manager, Sega could be seen as the answer to "not a developer, a publisher" and "more than one" hints.

Yeah that's pretty much it, plus it's exclusive to Vita.
It also kinda explains Sony talking about JRPG recently.

Yep, the title is definitely Phantasy Star Nova and if Shahid was talking about it, it gives me hopes for localization.

Also according to this news, over 70 people are working on Phantasy Star Nova and 200 are involved in development, which is a pretty big number.

No news yet but people are speculating that may be the case due to the big investment Sega is making on the game, and based on the hints given by Shahid.

In other new, if we get this but not Yakuza 5 I will personally destroy all of you : )

That's just speculation though and, in relation to this topic, I doubt Shahid would hype a game that will probably never be localised. So, the question remains - what game was he talking about?

Not really a "big" title though...speaking relatively based on the IP.

Besides that the criteria is pretty broad, save maybe the last one which is vague.

That does make sense.

Can someone refresh my memory, is this big amazing title the same one that caused a co-worker to shed tears of joy in another tweet?

Shahid is at it again. According to his tweet, he proposed a deal on bringing one of the most requested games to the Vita.

does that mean "localize"??

the last tweet sounds like " I am convincing every higher-up to bring a game only japan is getting so far, you thank me later"
