Anybody got advice on what parameters to save on the config files if I want to save my graphical settings for individual games? I've been messing with it but no dice; even when I put on what I think are the right parameters into the custom config file, Dolphin doesn't seem to load it :/

Here's what I got for Super Mario Sunshine:

Code:
[Core]
# Values set here will override the main dolphin settings.
[EmuState]
# The Emulation State. 1 is worst, 5 is best, 0 is not set.
[OnLoad]
# Add memory patches to be loaded once on boot here.
[Video]
PerfQueriesEnable = True
[Video_Settings]
wideScreenHack = False
UseNativeMips = True
AspectRatio = 1
[Video_Hacks]
EFBToTextureEnable = False
EFBCopyEnable = True
[custom]
RenderWindowAutoSize = True
KeepWindowOnTop = False
FullscreenResolution = 1920x1080
Fullscreen = True
RenderToMain = False
FrameLimit = 0x00000001
UseFPS = False
GFXBackend = OGL
MaxAnisotropy = 4
MSAA = 8
ForceFiltering = True
EnablePixelLighting = True

I ran Xenoblade just fine without a custom build. Only thing I changed were resolution settings.

Dolphin is largely your mileage may very.

It varies on a case by case basis based on so many factors.

You should add SweetFx to inject SMAA and just increase the rendering resolution to 4x or 3x. That should clean up a lot of the aliasing.

Currently on 3x native with 4xSSAA, and I think I can hold it, depending on how the framerate fluctuates throughout the game. Unlocking the framerate sends me a good 20 or so above 40fps, so I figure I've got a bit of headroom.

How do you get SS to work through the "Please connect motion+ extension" - I dont see anywhere in the menu for it in 4.0 ~_~?

(I know I said I'll get a dongle but it was a response to a older build).

You have to use a real Wii Remote and motion plus.

You have a more powerful machine than I do, and SS ran near-perfectly for me. There were no audio problems and the only times frames dipped were at night in Skytown and at a few areas in the late-game time cube dungeon. And that's with like pristine visuals, SSAA and all.

Play around and I'm sure you'll find a config that flies.

Yeah, I think I've got something. 3x native, 4x SSAA, framerate limited to 30fps. I still get a bit of popping, but I've tried Wii Sports and I get popping there too, so I'm thinking it's not just Dolphin but maybe my audio card.

I don't remember the solution, but I believe the Depth of Field is not supposed to look like that. I'm not 100% certain but I remember showing screenshots to a friend who had recently completed the game on Wii and he also thought the Depth of Field effect looked really weird in comparison.

Here's an example of the game on Wii.

It looks pretty close to me. It uses a weird crosshatch blur filter to get that smudged pastel look in the distance. I think the main point of difference the sampling resolution. The shot you showed is one of Nintendo's Skyward Sword bullshots, sampling the entire image at crazy resolutions, which should clean up the shader.

I could be wrong though. It's been awhile since I finished the WIi build, and it wouldn't be unusual for an emulated version to have issues.

Those buildings are way too close to be that blurry. Something's iffy with it.

I know its a bullshot yeah but what I was mostly trying to point out is that in Dolphin it looks like a cross hatch while on wii its more pastel water colory.

I believe at some point I did see a post showing a solution for it but I'll be honest in saying that I'm not 100% certain of that specific part and that I remember it being a while ago.

Whatever though, I mean, the game still looks good. Just thought id share the info I knew in case you were curious.

The distance is fine. I'm looking out over the town and Skyward Sword's paint filter tends to kick in at that distance.

Yeah, I Googled it, and it seems others are reporting the issue, but I'm still not sure if it's an actual rendering issue (with a solution) or yeah, just the painterly filter playing badly with increased internal resolution.

Here's the game with Wii native resolution and no SSAA.
sky1kgr8t.jpg

And here's the same scene at 3x native with 4xSSAA.
sky2f4of9.jpg

To me it looks like both are using the same effect, but the lower resolution of native Wii hides a lot of the crosshatching and smooths it out nicer.

If there's a fix that would be very nice. I might see how older builds look.

Backed up and played through half of viewtiful joe as a test for this. My machine eats up GCN games, but I was having a lot of trouble getting Sonic Colors going above 30 fps at 1920x1080. I'll try some more configurations when I have more time.

This is super cool.

About SS above: I do remember there being talk of a bug where sometimes the DOF would go way to heavy. Either that or their were configure that reduced the DOF in general to produce a cleaner image. To each their own.

If you could find a way to make your desktop background a video I could probably work something out for you?

This works on Windows. You need to replace a couple .DLLs or something, but you can use Dreamscene.

How did you manage to edit the "Press Any Button" texture? I couldn't. Every program I saved a texture corrupted it. Tried to find some info online, but couldn't.

I'd kill for a moving Xenogears wallpaper. :(

If you can recommend me a place that I can upload and share an 800mb video I'd be glad to offer it up.

Or you could just tell me how did you edit the texture and didn't corrupt it and I'd do it myself, compression-less! :D

I tried editing it with both Photoshop and Gimp and it corrupts the texture. Even paint can't do it properly. I don't know what else to do.

I just did it with photoshop and it was dandy.

I've uploaded the transparent text textures for ya here.

Also, for anyone interested in getting a video of it, I'm trying to upload two separate videos - one to google drive and the other to my dropbox that hopefully others can download if they'd like.

For an example of what the quality will be like, look below. It's pretty near to the actual raw capture.

Second video

Once you put the videos up, I'll tro to re-host them on my box.net account. I don't use that for anything else.

Thanks for doing this!

This looks really cool. I had always heard of Dolphin but never really payed much attention because I never had a good PC. Until now. Now I'm interested in trying Dolphin out. A couple basic questions:

- How are you playing these Wii/GC games? Are you somehow connecting your Wii to your PC or something? Or is there just a giant elephant in the room where you're all pirating (but not saying so because you'll get banned)?

- What do you use for a controller? Can you use mouse + keyboard or are you somehow connecting GameCube controllers/Wiimotes to your PC?

You can use a bluetooth adaptor to connect wiimotes to your PC, this is probably the best option unless you have that funky razor motion mouse thing. And for Gamecube/Classic controllers, I just a 360 controller with buttons mapped in the GCN layout. Works pretty flawlessly.

As for games, my Wii is modded so I used it to make iso backups of all my discs, then moved those onto my PC. They all work like a charm. There's some PC methods of backing up games, but I found just using the wii was the simpliest and least time consuming.

I'm in the Fluffy Bluff galaxy on Super Mario Galaxy 2 and get this error:-

back patch - failed to disassemble mov instruction.

Any ideas?

Alright so since I'm a shitty little nerd and I was messing around with Xenoblade Chronicles textures anyway I swapped the texture for this...

Shout outs to everyone else who tried Skies of Arcadia first. :D Was happy to see the audio not skip for me anymore. Now if we only could we replace the music with the Dreamcast tracks...

Does someone know if you can go online right now with Dolphin 4? How do I do that?

I forgot how good Chibi Robo was... so charming! It crashes about once every 40 mins though.

Hey guys, I need a TON of help.

I have a pretty decent computer, quad core, 660 GTX card, But I absolutely have ZERO clue how to get xenoblade or the last story to work without awful lag and audio problems.

I have looked up guides and I can't figure it out, so I would absolutely LOVE you guys if you guys can tell me the EXACT settings I need to play both games.

love you

What speed is the quad core?

Does anyone have any suggestions to sort out sound issues on a mac. Majority of the time I can get a game running at a decent frame rate but the music is pretty much out of sync the entire time. Games tried are Luigi's Mansion, Punch-Out!!, No More Heroes 2 and Mario Galaxy 2.

Anyone have any luck getting Monster Hunter Tri working?

It runs, but it has this ridiculous bloom effect. I googled it and found fixes for older versions of Dolphin, but they don't seem to work with 4.

Apparently I can not get Viewtiful Joe running at a decent speed on an Nvidia GeForce 9600 graphics card. I don't trust 4 with anything else then, unless Joe just doesn't work right....but according to the Wiki it should run FINE.
