GAF is so pro-Sony.

Remember the DS the first few years.
Remember the PSP the first few years.
Remember the PS3 the first few years.
Remember the 3DS the first year.
Remember the Vita...um, now.
Remember the WiiU...um, now.

We can't even have a Bayonetta 2 thread without port beggars shitting it up.

MS done goofed and the reaction from posters is a reflection of that.
Same shit, different day.

I believe both X1 and PS4 can handle this game no probs on a higher res if devs out the time in. As it stands it is releasing on 5 platforms. That's just nuts, IMO. DICE did say they can get more but aren't shooting for it. Looks like EA's push for a release date and 5 platforms is killing it.
Depends on if they're shooting for a 60fps min framerate or a 60fps average. I have to run BF3 at around 120fps to get a 60fps min (shit gets cray cray).

I wish DICE could have outsourced the current gen ports and concentrated on PC/next-gen.

This was told in August by PSAccess around gamescom.

Technical director at DICE stated that PS4 improved resolution was false:

https://twitter.com/repi/status/370907776156831745?screen_name=repi&

All I read was "PS4 will be 1080p. We are just for now saying final optimization at launch because Xbone can only do 720p, with tanks that have textures of early Xbox games".

No, no its not. Its a $500 dollar system for $400.

Cool When I'm playing on High on 1080p, 60 FPS, and some nice AA come talk to me again. PS4 is capable.

We can take a cheap old PC, throw the graphical settings down and run 1080P @ 60FPS and call it capable too. Almost a PS4!

You misspelled "Wii U" lol

The Wii u couldn't even hope to approach the image quality of a high end PC at SD resolutions. Next time you attempt troll baiting do it more subtly please and thank you.

You miss spelled "PS4 is a 1200 dollar machine costing 400".

Not even remotely true

Not as capable as a high end PC, which is why you have these resolution threads. There is no need for fantasy. Not some wild conspiracy theories. The game is about to go gold. If you want to play bf4 at 1080p/60 with the equivalent of high or ultra level effects, there is only one way to do so. And it will cost you more than 400 dollars (and less than 1200).

I would expect far better performance out of the PS4 if it was valued at $1200. Yes the PS4 is capable I'm not arguing against that, I'm saying a $1200 dollar system would murder the PS4.

Cool But PS4 will stay on High settings

So PS4 is suicidal?

No one said it will do ultra, 4k, 50 AA. All I'm saying is that it'll do 1080p, 60FPS, High settings and some aa.

Like I suggested before, I could definitely imagine that we'll see a lot more Xbone at 720p, PS4 at 1080p multiplatform games going forward. Keep shaders, textures etc. the same between the two, they should maintain a pretty similar framerate. Cheaper than spending the extra time on a worse-looking 1080p Xbone version, and it'll keep the people who are more concerned about framerate happy.

If you think the PS4 is comparable to a $1200 gaming rig, you're delusional. Just stop.

hmmm...

Maybe DICE doesn't want to declare that PS4 version is 1080p 60fps so they don't want to sabotage X1 BF4 sales and piss MS.

They have been saying that PS4 is running higher than 720p for some time.

Or maybe the conspiracy theory isn't necessarily correct?

But it won't. Doing 1080p/60 with high settings even on bf3 multiplayer requires a lot more hardware power than the ps4 has. Even with shitty post aa. And no, the ps4 isn't even close to the level of a 1200 dollar gaming PC. It is a nice console with a low end CPU, mid range GPU, and great memory interface. Not a miracle.

Do you people really believe that the gap between the two is so big, that games that the xbone can only run at 720p, the ps4 will able to run it at 1080p while keeping the same frame rates/graphics quality? Or is there a confirmed source about a secret second gpu inside the ps4 that I might not be aware of yet?

The consoles are a lot closer to one another than they are to a 1200 dollar gaming rig. A fact that seems lost on many due to console wars or something. They're as close to being identical as 2 competing consoles have ever been.

Good to know you spend 1200 when a 400 dollar machine produces the same results.

Funny you should mention Alan Wake. I'm pretty sure I have at least a couple posts in my history calling it the most embarrassing, molasses smeared, low resolution title of the entire generation. I found it to be absolutely disgusting looking and have used it as a benchmark of awful console IQ several times.

Different strokes for different folks and all that. I also have an HTPC connected to the same TV and played Alan Wake at 1080p60 and didn't particularly mind the difference that much. I mean, I appreciated it but I also didn't particularly care.

Alan Wake on 360 is pretty much SD and to me it was basically the difference between DVD and Blu-Ray.

Or maybe the conspiracy theory isn't necessarily correct? .

Well, we have a tweet from PSAccess saying that EA told them that BF4 is running 1080p/60fps on PS4. add this to EA saying that PS4 is running BF4 at higher than 720p. so my previous scenario is highly likely. why would it have to be a conspiracy to run BF4 1080p on PS4? hell even X1 can run it at 1080p given enough time to optimize that pain in the ass eSRAM.

It doesn't even produce remotely the same results. Nor should anyone expect it to. The console will be sold for a small loss. But as you say, "neogaf eats crow regularly".

As to the above - maybe pcaccess was playing the same version from e3. You know, ps4 controller plugged into a 3000 dollar PC. I would lower your expectations

Not to barge in on you two but lol at that second paragraph. My rig with a 7850 2GB easily plays above 60fps at high settings. Have you played bf3 pc? Thats no $1200 pc, the settings he listed should absolutely be attainable on ps4.

I was playing it 15 minutes ago. Multiplayer at 1080p on high or ultra regularly dipped when I only had 1 7850 in my htpc rig. When I added the second to that rig, I maintained 60 and up with the game maxed. This with a high end intel CPU.

Single player is a lot less demanding on both CPU and GPU

There is no way BF4 would be 1080p/60fps on either of the next gen consoles. It is impossible. Now I don't mean ps4/xbone "can't" do it, but for a rushed launch game, it won't happen. Unless there is a significant graphics downgrade. We are talking about 64 players with tons of shit going on in MASSIVE maps. Getting such a game on launch running 1080p with locked 60fps would be a huge achievement for Dice.

I call all people to boycott Battlefield 4! I don't want to play downgraded version on PS4 because Microsoft make weak console. I will not support DICE for some shitty PS4 port. YOU WON'T SEE MY MONEY, DICE!!!
