It wasn't. It took a herculean rig to get a stable 60fps.
Considering a $549.99 Intel CPU technically doesn't meet the "recommended" specs...
Intel Core i7-4930K Ivy Bridge-E 3.4GHz LGA 2011 130W Six-Core Desktop Processor
I have the same CPU but I keep it at stock 3.4ghz. Do you think I should buy an aftermarket cooler (looking at CM Hyper 212 Evo) and OC to 4.0ghz instead of buying an 8-core?
Also, these specs are for running at 1080p, right? So if we have lesser monitors (like 1600x900) we won't need as much power, correct?
I expect VRAM usage to increase vastly too on top of those which is why I am holding off on video cards for now. (doesn't help AMD is hiding their flagship card under NDA until the last second)
No, each Piledriver module has 2 128 bit FPUs. And they are clocked at more than twice the frequency of Jaguar.
What a joke of a requirement. The is no consumer 8 core CPU from Intel and AMD offering is weak.
While Visheria's a power-hungry beast, it is if nothing else easily overclockable too afaik.
None of the intel CPU's listed are 8 cores... unless Hyperthreading counts?
Our i7 2600k's will be fine. Tear for the i5 owners though.
so 1000+ PC needed confirmed to play next gen ports???
lmao im out

This is me running around Boston in Assassin's Creed 3:
3570k @ 4.4Ghz
GTX 690
32GB Gskill@2400Mhz
I'm thinking that 3570k is going to be quite the bottleneck in Watch Dogs. Time to look for a cheap 3770k methinks.
So it was a giant pile of shit on the PC and it should have no relevance to the WD? Good to know.
The specs do not cost 1k.so 1000+ PC needed confirmed to play next gen ports???

If it isn't then I'm jumping the PC ship. Fuck this shit if the top suggestion on Tom's Hardware before diminishing returns kicks in isn't enough.curious if 3570k will be ok.
I'm not so sure about the no relevance part. Going from a horribly optimized AC3 port to recommended spec of 8 cores for WD gives me a bad feeling about the quality of the port. Hope I'm very wrong though!
Yes they can. Just not with max SSAA.780's can't even run Last Light consistently at 60fps average
I suspect the Witcher 3 requirements are going to blow people away.
Or a cheap, otherwise vastly inferior AMD CPU, which incidentally are their recommended choices there. Like noted they'd probably have to do something that really depends on those 8 threads to cancel out how much faster and more effective Intel CPUs have been, and I can't help but wonder if they could've better optimized for 4 cores without sacrificing anything.Funny how they recommend an eight core yet their example with the Intel i7 3930k is "just" a six core. You have to buy a Xeon if you want eight cores.
Wat, the consoles are effectively going to be running these games on what would be the bare minimum visually. The recommended/ultra settings are for anyone who actually expects their games to look the best.
So whats the console spec on this list?
On Xbox One maybe.
People understimate how bad PC code can be. The type of hardware you'd need to run Killzone Shadowfall on PC at 60 probably doesn't even exist right now.
And there are last gen games that can't even lock at 60 with 650 dollar videocards.
I'm starting to get really concerned about PC optimization moving forward this gen.

I wonder if the PS4 version will look as good as the recommended/medium settings.
The problem is, while it may say i7's have 8 cores, it has 4 physical cores with 4 virtual, which run at 50% of each core, so it's closer to 6 cores for power. The 8 cores is more towards AMD true 8-core CPUs (I'd say).

Fixed that for ya.
We have oppportunities to move off this shit but people don't see why and mock both valve or amd for trying. Rather ubisoft is already admitting it they aren't spending much effort and are brute forcing it.

That's a very silly thing to say.People understimate how bad PC code can be. The type of hardware you'd need to run Killzone Shadowfall on PC at 60 probably doesn't even exist right now.
