Valve reveals specs for prototype Steam Machines.

Yes everyone, let's totally ignore the fact that there are lower end models so that we can just laugh at the Titan price point. Great discussion.

There should be more tampons in gaming
I think I may invest in this even though I really have no reason to. I'm not really computer literate enough to understand most of the technological mumbo jumbo being pushed around by PC elitist on these boards and throughout the internet but I really would like to try out the Steam Controller. And I'm in need of a new PC

I wonder if they would subsidize the cost of the hardware to get you into the Steam OS ecosystem.

Seems to me they could easily make back a few $100 on their software cut.

I wonder if Valve is going to sell Steam Machines for a significant loss in exchange for getting people into their ecosystem.

I like to see their cases. That's dimension of the case? that's small considering what's inside.
Do titans works with 450w?

oh man, those specs are SWEET. They won't be cheap, but still... I'd love to have one. It obliterates my current PC :p

So this is only going to be 12 inches long and 12 inches wide and its only 2.9 inches tall? That's insanely small if it's packing a Titan in it.

Not bad.

An I3 with a GTX 660 would only be about 300$ retail for that hardware. Then you have the RAM and such.

I'm expecting 300$ entry level machine, all the way up to the 1000$ range

We'll see what type of deal NVidia is giving Valve, if Valve has anything at all to do with the these machines anyway.

I'd be in the dick
These are gonna cost more than I expected, even for the base model. I can't believe they're actually releasing a Titan model. I wonder how loud that'll be.

450w?

I think my weak 7850 requires a 500w. how the hell does a Titan only need 450

Card itself only requires 250w, but nvidia lists a minimum system power supply at 600w.

Max TDP on a 4770 is 84w.

I imagine it could get by on the 450, though I'm not sure about stability.

Next-gen cooling.

Also those boxes are the only way to get 4k gaming on your 4k tv until 2020 when the next-next-gen consoles are released.

Little OT, but I hope Steam OS is an Icon on Windows I can just click and boot into Steam's OS just to play games.

Although I don't think a really expensive box will get them anywhere in the console market... as a laptop gamer I would buy one in a fucking heartbeat XD
