Amazon UK's top 10 best-selling games of all time (15 years of data collected)

That list makes me beyond sick.
But in actuality I don't really know what I was expecting.
If anything it's pretty amazing that GTAV is that high already.

I'm sure the US version would look pretty similar with Madden replacing Fifa.

Don't spoil it for USGaf and another one of their shitty memes. The idea US gamers have better taste is a colossal joke, this is the mainstream and they look the same on both sides of the pond.

You've lost me, sorry.
This table doesn't suggest where most people bought the game from. It's possible that most people bought the same deals you did.

Come on guys, none of the games on this list are bad enough to warrant a "bad list" kind of response.
We all know people that only play COD and/or FIFA (GTA is the only exception). It's depressing and these lists reflect that depression.

I'm not sure what everyone was expecting out of a best-selling games list from Amazon, tbqh. We all know that CoD and FIFA are huge sellers and have the selling/staying power throughout the entire year.

This thread reminds me how much I wished we got the used game sale numbers for Gamestop. And then immediately tells me why those numbers would be sad and boring.

Jesus, are you all that fucking Salty over fucking COD?

Curious of what people think should be at the top 5.
Portal 2, Rayman Origins/Legends, Red Dead Redemption, Uncharted 2 and Super Mario Galaxy 1/2.

I've limited it to current gen because it correlates with the growth of Amazon's market share. Plus all of these games have no barrier of entry to the mainstream (like the Souls games or Mass Effect for instance). They're gamers games but aren't too esoteric for the COD/FIFA crowd to get into.

It's a pretty depressing list, to be honest. I have nothing against those games (even though they're definitely not to my taste), but have the entire list made only of them... Yup. Depressing. There's no other word for that.

Oh well, at least there're GTA V and Skyrim in there :p

Considering all the bitching about how bad UK tastes are based on this list, I'd love to see lists from the other major western nations.

And people wonder why so many game companies produce sequels?

The only new game on that list is Zumba fitness (and actually this is even MORE impressive if you think about it...this is a Wii exclusive)...every other game is simply a sequel to an earlier installment...

The only change in America would be to replace Fifa with Madden although I'm not sure if Zumba fitness has the same lock in the US as it does apparently in the UK)

US would be similar, but Madden instead of Fifa, I imagine some EU country's might be more diverse.

It's a bad list because it's a ten game list with five games on it. The quality of those games are irrelevant.

Sometimes I ask myself.. how much of the internet opinion actually correlates into the real world.

So, so fucking little. I'm continuously shocked at how polar opposite the opinion of GAF (or even other gaming places) can be compared to friends I have that are gamers but aren't really online a lot.

But overall, yeah I rarely blame the companies when its usually the consumers that are at fault. We'll keep getting what we get now until consumers say they want otherwise. A business would be crazy try something different.

Zumba is the only entry that surprised me.
Not at all when you consider the Wii's marketshare and the popularity of Zumba amongst women. (big trend at the moment comparable to Yoga in the US, or was it California specifically?).

Hobbyists versus Casuals.

Despite that though whenever I've shown my FIFA friends' games I play there are always positive reactions. That positivity just isn't followed through though.

I find it amusing that people are so quick to be all "lol UK", when the chances of their country's mainstream buying habits being better are slim to none.
