The dudes from Simplepickup motorboat girls for breast cancer awareness.

The thing nobody here seems to realize is that the guys from Simplepickup don't NEED to do some sort of fundraiser in order to motorboat girls in public. They have without a doubt done more without any sort of fundraiser backing at all.

The idea that "they did this just so they could grope some boobies" is silly.

That's reality bro.

Maybe if people would stop being stuck up about sex and get used to the fact that it is the most human thing ever, and it is not only the oldest form of barter and commerce, but also the biggest, then there would be no problem

What few people here seem to realize is that this entire channel is devoted to showing off and drawing attention to themselves. This charity gimmick files in with the rest of their history. They couldn't just donate the money, no. They had to come up with something that would allow them to upload this to their channel for, you guessed it, attention and promoting their channel. Let's not paint this as some sort of selfless act.

You know, you're winning me over from your other posts about mental health. You're a good guy.

That's just in line with anyone who ever donates anything to anyone and makes it public, and is to be expected. It is not anywhere near as terrible, serious, or uncommon as the posters in this thread are making it out to be. Nor is that a good enough reason to have an organization reject the money.

The organisation clearly thought it was.

So your argument is, "Sure it's wrong, but everyone does it!" Way to have some conviction.

You expect everyone to simply donate from the bottom of their heart expecting no benefit to them whatsoever?

Because it's a very small minority of people who are willing to do that in the real world.

I expect people to have some transparency. Their response to the charity rejecting the money was hilarious because they tried to be indignant and self righteous about the entire situation. Anyone with a brain can see why it was rejected. You don't have to educate me on the fact that that altruism doesn't exist: it doesn't and I've had that argument on this forum many times. But deceit is something I have a major problem with. At the end of the day this was a way for them to have more material for their channel because their well is drying up in terms of ideas.

I'm not a fan of anything they do, honestly. This was a new low even for them, however. The fact that anyone finds their antics entertaining is a testament to how bored our society actually is.

What are you basing this on?

They've literally had roughly one video every single week for the past X months. Their "well of ideas" isn't really drying up, and they didn't really need to make this video if they didn't want to.

Before this video they were still getting roughly 300k views per regular/self help video, and they were easily passing the 1 million mark on each one of their "Get her number!" videos.

The fact that anyone finds their antics entertaining is a testament to how bored our society actually is.

"Someone enjoys watching something that I do not, therefore they must have poor taste in entertainment."

They can find a way to donate the money indirectly to the same cause if they really want to. They should still donate, just use a proxy and tell noone about it.

Why is it such a horrible thing that they can both

A. Raise money for a good cause

AND

B. Continue to support themselves and be further successful in their career?

I'm truly at a lost over this sentiment of just "well gee why don't they just give the money away?" How exactly do you guys think they are able to make videos likes this? By continue to make videos, it's really not that hard a concept to grasp. Not to mention you're completely missing the entire subject of the video, TO RAISE AWARENESS.

If folks have an issue with this type of promotion, than surely you feel equally disgusted whenever a company donates money to charity when ever you buy their product? Or when a 5k walk is being sponsored to raise breast cancer awareness. It's virtually no different.

"Raising awareness" is largely empty feel-goodism. After watching the video, it seems the money actually went to the BCRF rather than pointless "awareness" campaigns or the Komen slush fund, so that's good.

Yeah, that's usually the problem with these things.

Also, I'm not about to criticize this if it's consensual. We can make a bunch of speculation about what they would have done or what they wouldn't have done if x or y, but that's us trying to speak for them with no statements on their part.

Sidenote: I did not read every page of this thread (yet).

What?

They only touched the women in these videos with their consent, and they only showed their faces after they again, consented to having their faces shown on camera.

What's being done wrong here?

Don't try to get a logical response from jealous haters. They just attach a label(sexual harassment!) without any kind of critical thought.

This seems like a pretty clear response from the breast cancer community.

Aaaaaand they completely missed the point.

Yeah, that was totally the cue to pocket the money.

What's with all the salt and White Knighting in here?

The ladies agreed to it.

Because they tricked and possibly drugged the poor unsuspecting women into letting them grope them. They'd never agree to this otherwise

Not only did they agree to it, the allegations that they were harassed into it are completely insane. If a woman didn't want to she would have said so and then they would have been on their merry way.

We also dont know how Simple Pickup approached the women... although logic dictates that when you are doing something for charity you come out and say something like

"Hi, we're from simplepickup a popular youtube channel. For breast cancer awareness month we have decided to donate $20 to cancer research for every woman that lets us motorboat them. Would you like to participate?"

Its insane to think that they just walked up and said "can I motorboat you for breast cancer research" repeatedly to people. In addition, just from the camera angles they have in the video the woman would have had to agree to be on camera in the first place.

You must not have any experience with people who were sexually harassed/abused.
No, I don't think thats the issue. And please don't make such conclusions next time. You know absolutely nothing about me.

Based on what I saw, there wasn't a single woman sexually harassed in that video. For reasons repeatedly stated by others in this thread.

That doesn't make it right.
IDK like everything. Read upon sexual harassment.
Because it was simple exploitation.
You must not have any experience with people who were sexually harassed/abused.

I, being active in the mental health community know that all too well.
Then why don't you bloody explain your stance instead of shitting up the discussion with single word or line responses?
If you have experience with sexual harassment that others don't, either share your views so that people know where you're coming from, or stop posting because you're typing shit but not really saying anything.

Which is why sexual assault is way underrepresented. Keep living in that fantasy.

Accusations of 'faux outrage', 'white knighting' and prude arguments all rolled nicely up into one carnival of stupidity. Good job guys

People consent out of fear. It doesn't take a scientist to figure that out.

Get out of your idiotic mindset.

where is the proof these women consented out of fear? who are you to speak for them really? did you talk with them personally? do you not think they can independently make their own decisions? they consented to the act, and then consented to letting their faces be shown on the internet for this video.

i'm just gonna ignore the fact you called me an idiot lol.

You must not know me very much.
You keep replying with snarky one line responses to everything.

If you are actually interested in having a discussion, please state your opinion on this clearly for others to understand. If you are not interested in having a reasonable discussion please leave the thread.
