It seems that there will be some information on the NHK interview broadcast in Monday. If anyone can check to see if there are any other details on the article, it would be cool.

This makes it look like a Nintendogs X Pokemon game, where you train, groom and raise your own pokemon. Maybe the facial capture/imitation thing is an extension of the feature in the original Nintendogs were you could teach your dog to recognise your voice and perform tricks on command. The white, featureless environment also reminds me of Nintendogs' original artsyle.

Nintenpokemon. Not only does it make sense, the sales potential is mind boggling!

Well, it certainly doesn't look like anything we had been expecting, that's for sure. I suppose there's nothing to do but to wait for this episode of Professional to air, to see if we actually get any firm info.

I find it incredible that the thought of a Pokemon version of Nintendogs didn't cross my mind until now.

The image of the game screen looks like it's running on an emulated 3DS frame (camera and 3D slider present). So whatever this game is, it's on 3DS and not Wii U (so certainly not Pokken Fighters)

Maybe it's an AR Pikachu game that's basically like an expanded version of Pokemon Amie, only now Pikachu can express itself facially better (and maybe tell if his "trainer" is happy or sad too?)

Kinda wanna believe that facial recognition model is going to be dusted up a bit though. Surely it's possible to have some level of realism without breaking Pikachu's cute design right?

Looking at the video (Here: http://www.nhk.or.jp/professional/index.html, can't listen as at work), it appears the top image and the bottom image from two different games (as suggested in the article, too), though they may not be. The bottom image (with the magnifying glass) plays separately and only after it disappears do the words 'secret game' come up on the screen.

Imagine Pikachu looking even more creepier from the facial gestures shown from the video.

In a recent producer’s summary on NHK, they summarize the immense popularity of the Pokémon franchise that boasts a total sales figure of 4 trillion yen (roughly $41 billion) from all of the Pokémon goods, anime series, movies, and games.

WHAT!?

Is this correct? And would that make Pokemon the most valuable gaming IP evar?

Disappointment I was hoping it would a WiiU game following the main series but done in a Ni No Kuni esque art style.

That seems like it would be a pretty great extension of the Pokemon-amie concept if executed right/well.

The Poképark games were great and so was the 3DS Mystery Dungeon; on which Pikachu was the more prominent character.

If anything I'd like that this 3DS/Wii U game looks at least like Poképark/Gates of Infinity.

That's whats crazy. Pokemon isn't just big as a game series, it has a huge anime, multiple decently sized mangas, a hell of a lot of merchandise, etc. Rockstar and Nintendo never had to make the GTA or Mario company, did they?

1: Wikipedia is trash.
2: He's talking about "most valuable" - highest sales (or profits, but we can't easily gauge that).
3: Tetris is king. Over 100 million copies were sold. Between 2005 and 2009.
On cell phones alone.

You realize all of the numbers in that article have references, right?

And Tetris is in that article too. Oh, but you didn't even click the link, did you? Nice job.

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
So...today's 28th. When are we going to know what's this about? What's the interview time?

Isn't the show (not just an interview) supposed to be broadcast at 10pm this evening? So that'd mean in 4h26 or something.

Edit : yup, it's really happening at 10PM. The Pokémon Company just tweeted about it. It'll be between 10PM and 10.48PM.
