I'm really curious to see how this would stack up for me...2600k@4.2 and a 1.5gb 580 8 gigs ram vs. the PS4 version. Should be relatively close right? I got really good frame rates in 3 with everything maxed but no AA whatsoever iirc. Seriously doubt I'll double dip. I am weak though and that's a long time between the 29th and the 15th.

Ah, I meant Sony has the spend 50 to get 10 dollars back. Technically it means Premium is 10 bucks off, assuming you play on buying more PSN stuff anyway.

Ah! Ok. The PS Store deal.
I took full advantage of that myself, by buying BF4 digitally on PSN + Premium, and already paid the $10 PS4 upgrade. Should get $20 back!

For the upgrade, I have noticed it says "As low as $9.99". To me that sounds like it could potentially be more, but they don't want to say exactly how much it'll cost lol.

It is $9.99. I just bought it ;)

Yup. Premium carries over for free.
Also, maybe you mis-typed, but it's only $10 to upgrade, not $10 off.

He meant that spending $50 on the store right now gets you a $10 PSN credit. Hmm, maybe I'll buy Battlefield 4 digital along with Premium and get $20 in savings...

Same here. I know I'm set with Killzone and AC4 on the PS4, but not sure if I want to opt for doing BF4 on the PS4 (versus getting Ghosts - or just getting BF4 on both PC and PS4).

Current rig is a 3770k@3.5, 16gb RAM, and a GTX 670 w/ 4gb RAM. I max out BF3 no problem, not sure how 4 will be thp.

Is there any word yet if this is a midnight release on PSN?

I'm hoping they pull a GTAV, and release midnight EST (9pm PST)! It was more like 9:40pm, but still lucked out on the west coast :p

I wish I could get the 360 version and then upgrade to a digital copy on Xbox One. That way I'd have some things unlocked by the time the XB1 comes out.

Looking at my Battlefield 3 battlelog, I put many more hours into assault and support than I remember. I expected my percentages to Engineer > Support > Assault > Recon, but it's more Support > Assault > Engineer > Recon, with about 10% drops between the first three. Support probably comes from me playing the bigger maps like Caspian and Firestorm more than others, and the hilarity of using a bipod LMG against fucking sniping recons. Yes, you stupid shits, I can hit you with pinpoint accuracy from the same distance and with an automatic. Suck it.

My play time for the Battlefield 4 beta was heavily in favour of Engineer. Probably went Engineer > Assault > Recon > Support. In a map like Siege of Shanghai Engineer really shined, urban encounters close enough for SMGs to work their magic and the frequent use of vehicles making rockets invaluable for the team. Assault was just me getting a feel and enjoying the shooting. Recon because I like that they've got C4 now. And Support way down the list because the default LMG sucked balls.

This would be awesome. Cheers.

I also barely touched support in the BF4 beta, only to try out the XM25. Went Recon for the most part, with engineer second. Recon for lasertagging choppers so my buddies could instakill them with RPGs (that was hilariously broken and I'm glad they fixed that).

Never been a big fan of sniping in BF, but I really liked the DMRs for recon, glad that now your choice of weapon as recon isn't only sniper, SMG or shotgun.

I spent most of my time as support. I actually like the default lmg compared to the first unlock one. I never did get the hand of the XM25.

If I buy a physical copy of BF4 can I add it to my Origin games and download it from there?

Not sure but I have the physical version of Crysis 3 and it is now listed on my Origin as well but I have yet to see if it will install from there without the disk in the drive.

Could you check if it works please? I could trade a couple of games at Gamestop and get BF4 for a couple of bucks I think. Problem is I don't have an optical drive in my PC so I can't download the game it would be worthless lol.

Well it started to download and didn't ask for the disk so I can only assume it would install and play.

I'm holding off till this weekend to pre-order BF4. Waiting on GMG for that 25% off; GMG need to stop bullshitting and get with it.

I'm debating if I should pre-order a digital copy from Origin or Amazon. Does Amazon send you the CD key well before the game's release, or is it sent at midnight PST? Knowing that would pretty much decide it for me.

Did they change the gameplay my friend told me its more like cod now thanks

What is he referring to exactly? Some of the guns have lower recoil and you can use a lot more camos and emblems. Other than that everything is a bit slower and more complicated. Vehicles have a new reload mechanic, squads consist of 5 soldiers, you have to build up your sprint speed, squad co-op is needed to get field upgrades, levelution gives more tactical options, commanders directs the way of the battle and so on.

The comparison with COD has always been very, very superficial in my opinion. The two games are miles apart.

it's "more like" COD in the way some guns have less recoil... and that 5 on 5 game mode... but it's like... uhh...

say you and your friend have slices of pepperoni pizza and you spill some crumbs of a chocolate cookie onto your slice... your slice of pizza is now 'more like chocolate' than his.

it's still nothing like COD. player count. scale. vehicles. destruction. movement. and of course, the #1 thing about the feel... projectile calculations on bullets. still no hitscan here.

So you could only communicate to squadmates only? Not the entire team?

I believe the way it is supposed to work, at least for modes that support a Commander, is that players can freely communicate via voice with their squad and each squad leader has a separate channel to the commander. So commander talks to squad leaders, squad leaders and squaddies talk to each other.

Ideally I hope they add another one that allows you to communicate via VOIP with the occupants of whatever vehicle you are in.

yes, proximity chat is sorely needed.

Still over a month before I get to play it. :/ We will have a seperate next gen thread right?

I highly doubt it unless people feel really necessary.

Splitting the BF3 community threads wasn't exactly the most desired decision.

Commander will have to be quick to get them before the mortars do. Most of those rooftops have zero overhead cover, going to be easy meat for mortars.

Assuming mortars actually do enough damage in an adequate amount of time...otherwise the airbust will do much better.

Hmmm, so tempted to do the digital upgrade path for $10 on PSN, but kinda want to experience it next gen right off the bat. Choices, choices, choices....

i'm tempted too but i dont want to have the digital download crowding my HDD, AND to have to hold the PS3 disc in the drive.

well it was easier for game company talks and such. I'm all for having separate threads for Sony, Xbox, PC platforms. Wouldn't split the PS3 and PS4 players though etc.

I still think our BC2 megathread days were fine.

Granted, we had a lot less people then.

My Origin tag is ConsumeProgeny, if anybody wants to add me. I'll be PC, Australia playing BF4 when the day comes.

Yeah XM25 is just the perfect sniper counter weapon once you get the hang of it. Just brutal.

I still don't get it. He is locking on to the front of the barrier, but then it explodes behind it?

edit vvv: yeah I just watched that, that's why I asked again.
@ 1:30 - he would need to lock on at something behind that barrier, no?

The grenade always blows up 3 metres behind your lock on point so you need to lock on to the cover your enemy is using (i.e the edge of a roof top).
