Why do people who never would but an X1 spend so much time caring about it? Also it's a rumor with zero proof, what cboat said you guys eat up of course. But why wasnt he talking about cod having issues before this thread, I'm buying both consoles and think these console wars are a joke for kids. I care about the games, which is why I also have a Wii u and will enjoy all 3 consoles. Wish some people grew up already.

I already have a WiiU, preordered a PS4 and am getting a 180 in March. Yes, I love games that's why I buy every platform (PC is hooked to the tv too) but you have to call it how it is. MS dropped the ball and gave the next 8 years to Sony powerwise. Better hope they have some serious exclusives coming down the line to compete because Sony has the price, the power and established 1st party studios. Shit is real, might as well live it.

If this is true then the ps4 will still have a higher resolution then 720 and still be 60fps. That is the point, this thread is showing how bad the Xbone really is.

Oh I know lol. I didn't miss the fact that it's running 1080/60 on PS4. I was just saying that if any devs have to choose between targeting framerate or targeting resolution on the XB1, I would prefer that they target framerate. I'm getting both systems, and I really, REALLY don't want to have to play fast/twitch games at 30fps if I can avoid it. I don't mind slower games like RPGs and puzzlers running at a lower framerate, but not shooters for sure.

As someone else said it's probably partly due to optimization even if it is true. There's no way that even with its inferior hardware to the PS4, that the XB1 shouldn't be able to run this turd of a game at anything less than 1080/60. However, as the generation stretches its legs, I'm quite sure it will become the norm to see either 720p/60fps or 1080p/30fps for the XB1, and that saddens me. I'm working on getting used to the side by side sticks on the dualshock as we speak in preparation of being primarily PS4 moving forward.

Fucked up how? They LITERALLY got away with charging for online-play without a huge ruckus.

Well... yeah, I would file that under fuckup... because goddamn online play should be free. But no one even sees it as a negative.

If microsoft was on point from the start and sony announced they were charging for online play it would be a HUGE downer for sony.

What distance do you sit from your television, what size is it?
*most* people sit far enough that 720 / 1080 isn't going to be much of a muchness.
like I said.

what is the proper distance to watch film screens. its the identical activity. the distance argument is meh and always will be, due to how much the nation enjoys film, and the quality, and the hd/stereo/imax screenings.

people sit close, people sit far. thats people. offering 1080p and letting people be people is what other devs offer. 1080p is better quality, despite creative scribblings.

Where is it going exactly? Will people who enjoyed 360 no longer buy Xbox One because CoD in 720p on the console? Is that what is being insinuated here?

What I'm saying is that you're starting to see a role reversal from last gen and that Sony has the console to play ports on. You're seeing various games clocking in with performance issues. You're seeing the media getting more in the know, and I'm sure we'll have numerous articles tomorrow written in doom speak of the lack of power the XB1 may have. It'll all trickle down now to more people.

Those ultra-casual-dude-bros who don't follow a thing will probably be buying this stuff on 360, not XB1. They'll probably start looking into it probably around the launch of the systems, and seeing the massive amount of bad news that MS made for itself may get turned away.

The only problem here in the big picture isn't just the power comparison, it's that the more powerful console that may end up running games much better is all $100 cheaper, compounding the other issues. And that is the real big problem MS faces.

I haven't done any of my school related things for tomorrow. I'm beyond fucked...and yet it has been completely worth it so far. This thread is just amazing.

I have been reading nothing but this thread for a few hours now. And with CBOAT, Penello and Mortimer all in the same thread, I think my head is gonna explode.

This thread is delivering.

So now the Xbox One doesn't run any games at 1080p? What?

No one knows at this point the extent of how many games will reach 1080p. We know Forza runs at 1080p. We know that Ryse had to cut assets to get to 900p. We know that COD and Titanfall (what will probably be the two biggest selling games this year and next year) run at 720p. And we've heard a lot of talk from insiders saying that a lot of games are struggling to hitting 1080p. I would say that is a cause for alarm when your system is $100 more than the competition, and can't hit the resolutions that it seemingly can, absolutely.

So the actual developer doesn't know what he's talking about?
No I'm say its the same PR bullshit bait and switch nonsense we all slaughtered Gearbox for A:CM. And 3000+ posts in under 6 hours Mortimer what have you done you beautiful bastard.

If microsoft was on point from the start and sony announced they were charging for internet it would be a HUGE downer for sony.

It's still a downer for me but I'm already a PS+ subscriber until 2015 and I don't intend on ever unsubscribing so it's not too big of a deal. I want to see what becomes of PS+ with this online paywall for PS4, though.

Yep, instead they panic'd and rushed it all instead of maybe pushing their console until Spring to get it all right. PS3 came out after the 360 and managed to do fine. I dont know why MS didnt think they could pull that off.

Pushing the ps3 back a year was the only thing Sony did right with the PS3 at that point.

I will never declare anything dead or whatever this early, shit I won't do it two years in (VITA!??!?!) but... I'm with you. If MS stepped back and said "Ok sony is coming at us hard, let's delay until 2014 and get this shit right" they would be in a much better position than they will be about a month from now when people say "I paid $100 more and fucking ugly ass COD looks worse!?!?!"

Even though I think ps4 is more powerful, we have no idea what the final specs are. Also rumors should be just that rumors, I don't understand why when it comes to bad news for the X1 it must be true. Wish some people waited to find out the truth about a rumor before going nuts.

He is right that they should have been honest about it when asked, instead its going to blow up like this and spread like wildfire, because this kind of news/rumors is not official, therefore people are more fascinated by it by sheer nature.

I cannot believe that Ghosts of all games cannot run 1080p on Xbox One, what in the world happened? They must have hit some problem

It's ok, 4 years from now when the Xbox One hardware is mastered, the people will have their 1080P Halo with no jaggies!

I doubt it. Microsoft's developers have nothing on Sony's developers when it comes to pushing out more better graphics for their games (like Naughty Dog, Polyphony Digital, & Santa Monica).

Wow. Just wow. I was getting nervous with my PS4 pre-order about reports about some of the games not running 60 FPS, but how the hell is CoD not running at 60 FPS on Xbox One?

I mean, honestly, to the guys that only play CoD it probably won't matter that much I guess. Anything lower than 900p these days for me is painful. I mean, I have a friend that is rich that could buy both systems at launch but he is a CoD player and that's all he plays and he's got a day one edition Xbox One pre-ordered. I don't fault him for that. Hell, I was there telling him that the launch games probably won't look much different even though I switched camps to PS4 (and I'll be getting an Xbox One later), but now I feel bad for him. He's an older guy. CoD is literally his favorite franchise and is like the only modern game he plays these days outside of retro consoles. He's dropping $500 on CoD and it can't even run it in 1080? What the fuck? I mean, I'm not even considering picking up Ghosts even though I've bought every CoD game since 4 to play with him, but for this guy it's like his favorite franchise. That's just dirty.

And Christ? Titanfall at 720p? That's nearly enough for me to wait for a possible PS4 port or try learning to play with a M and KB on my PC just to avoid that. 720p? Really. Really?

But we know also Halo 5 is hitting 1080p @60.

The world hasn't ended yet.

Edit: At least that's what they said at E3...It could change.

It's 60fps on Xbox One. It's just 720p.

It's funny how GAF didn't react quite in the same manner when the first (few) rounds of PS3 versions of multiplatform turned out to be complete pony when compared to the "Xbox 1.5" versions!

please point out this "GAF" character.

Here is the absolute truth as I know it. I''ve posted this before and I think people took it as my opinion but it's not my opinion, it's the thoughts of people who know.

In february Sony shocked the fuck out Microsoft with both the console and timing of their console. Of course no time was given... but it was obvious that it was this year. MS was looking for a release between this fall and next spring (and any engineer here can tell you that means next spring).

Microsoft never recovered from that.

Here they are with a console sooner than they planned. It's in less countries, it has dick for Kinect support, basic shit like USB harddrives are pushed until next year, the messaging has been a mess.

Kinda sounds like they rushed it. Doesn't it?

That's not to say everything sony has done is perfect... in fact they've fucked up quite a few times... but microsoft has dropped the ball so many times that no one cares about Sony's fuck ups.

So kinda like this.

I look at this the same way I look at compression in music. Some people say they aren't bothered by poor mastering. But if you had access to a version of the album with no compression, and much better mixing..wouldn't you want the best version of that album? Why would you accept a worse version, if the option for a better version is available?

This of course is just an example, as often album's only have one version, and you are stuck with a poorly mastered record. I guess the way I see it, I don't see why people would want a 720p version of a game, that they know can be 1080p and IS 1080p on the other competitors system (and is $100 cheaper).

At this point, if you absolutely love MS first party title/franchises, I totally understand why none of this means anything to you. You are already sold on that system, because you want these specific games, and nothing will change that, okay. But for those that mostly buy third party titles, and are flexible on what first party titles they love (so let's say you also like Sony's first party titles), I get why many would see this as a problem.

People saying 1080p doesn't make a big difference, if you had a choice between a game that ran at 1080p and the same game running at 720p, why would you choose the 720p one?

I don't care about resolutions or specs but how the fuck can MS screw up this badly?

From the drm leaks back in April/May to the shitty reveal, tvtvtvtv, actual drm, 180's, Kinect, rumors about the NSA, rushing this console out, etc etc.

It's pretty crazy.
